Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway claims he will not attempt to re-sign Wilfried Zaha on loan.

It has been suggested across the media that Palace might ask Manchester United for a loan deal for Zaha to assist them in their first season back in the Premier League, but Holloway denies the rumours. "I don't think it's fair to the boy. He's got to have a go at United" said the ex-Blackpool manager, so it appears Palace will be looking elsewhere to fill the creative void left by Zaha.

Aitor Karanka could be left without a full-back as Middlesbrough lose a Friend at Fulham in the League Cup.

Boro boss Karanka was left fuming at his sides exit from the EFL Cup on Wednesday admitting: "It’s been the kind of day where it would have been better staying at home. I told the players at half-time that they were lucky that I had only two substitutions allowed, as I would have liked to change six or seven." The loss capped a truly miserable night which saw Middlesbrough plunged into a left-back crisis after debutant Fabio was forced off just 10 minutes into his first game and his replacement – George Friend – pulled up with a muscular problem: "Fabio has hurt his knee, I don’t know how long but he won’t play at the weekend," Karanka said. "I’m waiting to hear from the doctor [to see] how George is." With James Husband [dislocated shoulder] still side-lined, Boro may be forced into using Adam Reach who is primarily a winger but can be deployed at left-back.

Pep Guardiola made a raft of changes for the Champions League home tie against Steaua Bucharest following their 5-0 first leg victory in Romania.

Joe Hart and Yaya Toure started in what was seen by many as their final game for the club. Claudio Bravo is on the verge of agreeing a £17m switch from Barcelona with Hart expected to go out on loan. While, Guardiola said Toure must "increase his intensity without the ball" before he will be considered for the Premier League. Sergio Aguero was rested with attacking responsibilities being handed to youngster Kelechi Iheanacho, and it was the 19-year-old who put a dampener on the evening after he was stretchered off with 20 minutes remaining. Iheanacho has since posted an update via Instagram regarding his injury: ‘I’m pleased to inform you all that am okay #mcfc'. However, despite the optimism, he is unlikely to shake off a hamstring problem before the visit of West Ham on Sunday.

Hull City have approached Tottenham about the possible transfer of midfielder Ryan Mason.

There are a few clubs interested in Mason, who Spurs would seem willing to let go, seeing as he is behind the likes of Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and now Victor Wanyama in the pecking order. The Tigers have a recent history of purchasing central midfielders from Tottenham, as they brought in Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone in their last top flight appearance. Mason, who has one cap for England, is still only 25 and could be a valuable addition to a club desperate to add depth to their squad. Should he sign with Hull, there could be some fantasy value there in just about any format.

Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have approached Tottenham about the potential signing of South Korean international Heung-Min Son.

Spurs haven't exactly advertised Son as being on the market, but if another club is willing to offer an agreeable amount of money, then he could be on his way out of White Hart Lane after only one season. The possibility would seem to rely somewhat on the sealed signing of Georges-Kevin N'Koudou from Marseille, who Tottenham looked to have been set to bring in a month ago, but the two sides had a stall in negotiations because of front office issues with the Ligue 1 club. Son never quite settled in with Spurs in his first season. He had occasional moments of positive influence but also looked to be lacking chemistry at times with his teammates when on the pitch. Son is just now returning from Rio where he played for South Korea in this summer's Olympics.

The League Cup was supposed to provide Emre Can with some much-needed game time as he steadily returns to full fitness following his European Championship exertions.

Can has found himself playing second fiddle to Jordan Henderson and summer signing Gini Wijnaldum for Liverpool’s two opening Premier League matches, but Tuesday was the ideal platform to prove himself ahead of Saturdays’ early kick-off [especially following last weekends’ poor result at Burnley]. However, it now looks like the German midfielder will be side-lined following an ankle injury which forced Can off after 71 minutes, although Klopp is optimistic the problem is "nothing too serious." Speaking after the 5-0 win at Burton Albion: "It's not that big [of a] pain anymore," he said. "But it's the ankle he had problems with at the end of last season, so he's a little bit worried." On a more positive note, Klopp confirmed Divock Origi was not injured, the Belgium striker was suffering with cramp during the latter stages of the match.

Following a specialist consultation, West Ham have confirmed that Andre Ayew does not require surgery to repair a thigh muscle tear.

Ayew was said to have suffered a "rare" and "very serious" thigh injury at Chelsea on his debut and initial reports indicated that the record buy from Swansea would be out for the remainder of the calendar year. But it now looks like Ayew could be back sooner after Stijn Vandenbroucke [Head of Medical and Sports Science] confirmed: "Andre will not have surgery and we have started the rehab straight away, working two times a day. Andre is a highly professional athlete with a positive attitude that no doubt will affect the return to play date. It is early to put a time-line on the rehab, but we are positive to reintroduce him in December." With Andy Carroll [knee] expected to miss 4-6 weeks and Diafra Sakho still recovering from a back problem, Slaven Bilic may consider reinforcements and has admitted that Wilfried Bony [on-loan] remains an "option."

Antonio Conte is sweating on the fitness of Ola Aina even though the young defender is yet to play a single Premier League minute.

Aina was named in the League Cup side which faced Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night, but the 19-year-old was forced off with 20 minutes remaining, leaving Chelsea short of options in defence with Kurt Zouma still side-lined: "I hope the injury to Aina is not serious," said Conte. "If it is we will only have four defenders for Burnley. I'm a bit worried." The club has been linked with a number of potential reinforcements to help bolster the squad, but none to this point have been forthcoming. Kalidou Koulibaly [Napoli] and Alessio Romagnoli [AC Milan] are rumoured to be high on the Chelsea wish list.

Jordan Pickford could line up against Southampton this weekend after Vito Mannone was rushed to hospital for further tests following a training ground injury.

Concerns at present, are that Mannone may have suffered a fractured elbow, although there has been no official update since David Moyes spoke to the written press ahead of tonights' League Cup tie against Burnley. "Unfortunately, this morning, we’ve taken another injury with Vito on his elbow," he said. "We’re just about to take him to hospital to get it checked. It could be serious and we’re a little bit worried about it, but I couldn’t tell you how good or bad it is yet." With only two Premier League starts, which includes a 4-1 loss at White Hart Lane, Moyes is not worried about Pickford being thrown in at the deep end: "I saw Jordan play for Preston last season quite a bit and I was impressed by how he was."

The 27-year-old defender has joined Championship side Aston Villa on a three-year contract.

De Laet was part of Leicester City’s Premier League and Championship-winning squads and memorably collected a medal for winning promotion while on loan with Middlesbrough on the same day that Leicester City lifted the top-flight trophy. The full-back will bring needed experience to Roberto Di Matteo's Villa considering he had been a regular for the Foxes during their journey from the Championship to the Premier League. The full-back, who joined Leicester City in 2012 from Manchester United, made a total of 129 appearances for the Foxes.

Manchester United centre-back Tyler Blackett has joined Championship side Reading on a permanent basis.

Blackett, who spent 6 months on loan at Celtic last year, is not part of Jose Mourinho's plans. The 22 year old made 12 first team appearances for United during the 2014-15 season for Louis Van Gaal however the young former England U-21 international only made 8 appearances for Celtic last term. He now links up with former Manchester United player Jaap Stam who manages Reading, where he has signed a 3 year contract. He will hope to continue his development and make a return to Premier League football sooner rather than later.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has joined Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan for the season.

Manchester United have sent the young left back on loan in order to get valuable first-team experience in order to aid his development. The 19 year old made 14 appearances for United's first 11 last term however the return of Luke Shaw from injury meant that he would have been unlikely to play often this season. This loan move does not appear to be the beginning of the end of the young Englishman's Old Trafford tenure as he was just rewarded with a new contract at the beginning of the summer.
