Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare has welcomed speculation suggesting he could be a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year old Ghana international is said to have been recommended to Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas by the club's new technical director Franco Baldini. He can play as an attacking full-back on either the left or right so could be seen as a potential back-up for Kyle Walker or perhaps even a replacement for Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who has been linked to a move away from the club this summer.

Joe Allen has officially moved from Liverpool FC to Stoke City FC for a reported £13 million fee.

The Wales midfielder had an outstanding Euro2016 tournament that reaffirmed (or perhaps created) the value of Allen in the transfer market. Marginalized to varying degrees since his move to Anfield, the feeling is that his ceiling is as a mid-table player. That the slight player arrives at the Potteries, that once boasted one of the roughest and toughest squads in the division, is perhaps the biggest nod yet to the changes that Mark Hughes has instilled at the club. Don't expect a great deal in the way of statistics that show up in the box score but Allen will be a steadying presence linking defense and attack that the Potters have lacked.

Stoke City have signed Egypt international Ramadan Sobhy from Al Ahly for a fee that could reach €6 million based on the winger's performances.

Sobhy's name has been in the press with Arsenal and Roma both credited with interest prior to Mark Hughes' side capturing his signature. The player is only 19-years-old so it remains to be seen how quickly he can make the jump from the Egyptian league to the Premier League. It is likely that Sobhy is "one for the future" at Stoke City rather than there being any expectation that he will star this season. Probably not someone worth considering for fantasy purposes this season but definitely one worth watching as the season plays out. His ceiling is certainly such that he could play towards the end of this season with a view towards next.

The ICC match between local rivals Manchester United and Manchester City in China has been cancelled due to poor pitch conditions after significant rains.

With both clubs featuring new managers and needing pre-season action to solidify their new systems, the cancellation is probably more frustrating than the average pre-season cancellation might be. United are coming off a drubbing at the hands of Borussia Dortmund and would certainly have been eager to put something other than that in short term memory. City lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich last Wednesday and will now face Dortmund next Thursday.

Swansea City continue their search for a much-needed striker to add to their squad and are now approaching Manchester City about the possible acquisition of former Jack, Wilfried Bony.

The Swans are really looking to turn back the clock as they have already expressed publicly the interest in getting Joe Allen back from Liverpool. The Bony-Swansea partnership was nothing short of ideal a few years ago. They brought him in for £12 million fee, he excelled for them and they profited £13 million by selling him to City for £25 million some 18 months ago. Bony's time with the Citizens has not gone well for him. He could only crack the XI under Manuel Pellegrini when Sergio Aguero was injured and, once Kelechi Iheanacho emerged last season, Bony's chances were sliced even thinner. The Swans are hoping to convince City to at least loan Bony back to where he enjoyed so much success, if not, purchase him back outright for a fraction of what they sold him for.

Liverpool's Joe Allen is set to meet with Stoke City manager Mark Hughes about the midfielder's possible transfer to the Potters.

Swansea City were courting Allen in the hopes of getting him to return to his former club but the Jacks were not close enough in matching the money Liverpool were looking for, a valuation that surely rose after Allen's showing in Euro 2016. Stoke, however, are much closer on agreeing terms, willing to bid £13m, just £1m short of the Reds' asking price. Another attractive aspect of this possible move for Allen is to play for Hughes, who himself is a former Welsh international player and manager. Allen also has arguably more talent around him on the pitch with players like Bojan, Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri. This deal looks like it could happen in a few days unless Swansea up their offer.

AFC Bournemouth have reportedly approached Liverpool for the possible transfer of Brad Smith, willing to bid £6 million for the young left back.

The Cherries have already dipped into the talent pool at Anfield this summer with a £15m purchase of winger Jordan Ibe. What is interesting about the possible deal from the Reds perspective is, while they have strengthened many positions around the pitch in the transfer window, they will have a huge question mark at left back should they sell Smith and/or Jon Flanagan leaves on a loan spell to Burnley. It would only leave Alberto Moreno as a senior team option at the position and there were many times Moreno was at fault for his defensive miscues, including in the final of the Europa League this past May. Then again, the way Liverpool have been shopping, they will likely look to buy another left back to challenge Moreno whether Smith leaves or not.

West Ham face an anxious wait to discover the extent of the knee injury sustained by Aaron Cresswell during Saturdays 3-0 friendly win over German second-tier side Karlsruher SC.

Cresswell was left in a heap after a crunching challenge from midfielder Grischa Promel which required lengthy treatment from the West Ham physio. Although the full-back left the pitch under his own steam, there are concerns that Cresswell may have suffered serious knee damage with some reports suggesting up-to six months on the sidelines. Speaking post-match, Slaven Bilic said: "The only downside of this game is that we have to see what is [wrong] with Cresswell. He got injured and it didn't look that good. We will have to assess it." Co-chairman David Gold went as far as saying that claims made by West Ham fan site Claret and Hugh [stating between 4 weeks and six months out] "are accurate" but the precise nature of the injury won’t be known until the player has a scan.

Branislav Ivanovic could miss the start of the new Premier League season after dislocating his shoulder during last week’s 3-0 friendly win over RZ Pellets in Austria.

Ivanovic returned to the Cobham Training Centre on Thursday for further tests and initial reports indicate the that the 32-year-old, who has faced heavy criticism in recent times following a string of lacklustre performances, will be side-lined for around three-weeks making him a doubt for the opener against West Ham. Bertrand Traore could deputise at right-back, although Antonio Conte will continue in his quest to bolster the Chelsea backline with Kalidou Koulibaly [Napoli] and Kostas Manolas [Roma] featuring high of the Italians summer wish list. Meanwhile, the Blues have enquired about Dutch international defender Stefan de Vrij, who could cost around £15 million and are reportedly ready to trigger the release clause in Victor Lindelof's contract at Benfica.

Speaking at a press conference in Australia ahead of Tottenham's preseason tour down under, Mauricio Pochettino let it be know that Nabil Bentaleb, among others, is not in the manager's plans for the upcoming season.

Pochettino also listed Alex Pritchard and Federico Fazio as players "on the outs". Pritchard never had a chance to make an impression, earning only one appearance during the Pochettino regime and Fazio had fallen out of favor and frozen out by the boss for quite some time. Bentaleb, on the other hand, once showed promise as a defensive midfielder but injury, the emergence of Eric Dier and the acquisition of Victor Wanyama has blocked the Algerian international's path. There was talk of sending Bentaleb out on loan but it sounds now that he is on the market. He is only 21-years-old and has the potential to be very helpful to another club this season.

Swansea City are in the market for a winger this summer and, with the announcement that he is not a part of Mauricio Pochettino's plans, Alex Pritchard has emerged on their radar.

Championship clubs Leeds, Newcastle United and Norwich City are also interested in Pritchard, who never had an opportunity to impress under Pochettino in 2015/2016, having been injured for much of the first half of the season and then went on loan to West Brom in January, making only three appearances as a substitute in his time there. He did enjoy a promising loan spell at Brentford the previous season and the 23-year-old attacking player is currently valued at £8m.

Reports indicate that at some point later today, official word will be released that Bafetimbi Gomis will join Ligue 1 side Marseille on a season-long loan.

The striker position was a major Achilles' heel for the Swans last season and with Gomis seemingly departing for the coming year, they are in desperate need to land a new one, or two, in short time. They have already sold away Eder and Alberto Paloschi and Marvin Emnes, who is the only player left that plays striker as his natural position is hardly the answer to their problems. Andre Ayew was used in the role periodically last season, but even his future with the club is currently in limbo. The Swans have expressed interest in getting Wilfried Bony back to South Wales and have also knocked on Leicester's door about Leo Ulloa. Whoever they manage to bring in to play up top could make or break the coming season for them.
