Manuel Pellegrini hopes to bring "two or three" more new players to Manchester City - but he wants Edin Dzeko to stay.

The 27-year-old was City's top scorer in the Premier League last season, hitting 14 goals in 32 appearances, but he often found himself benched by Roberto Mancini and reports had suggest he would leave the club this summer. Having let Carlos Tevez join Juventus, it now appears Dzeko is in Pellegrini's plans but he could still struggle for first team football with Sergio Aguero a certain starter, and with Alvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic and even Zlatan Ibrahimovic all linked to a move to the Etihad this summer.

Chelsea edged Crystal Palace 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, clinching the Premier League title.

Champions of England for the fifth time, Chelsea went wire to wire at the top of the table, clinching their fate with three matches to spare. The only goal of the game came at the end of the first half, when James McArthur fouled Eden Hazard in the area. Hazard, the best player in the league this season, stepped up to take it. It was a poor effort, stopped by Julian Speroni, but Hazard followed up the rebound to head home his 14th league goal of the season. Stamford Bridge is rocking right now, and there is nothing boring about it.

Sergio Aguero continued to give Tottenham nightmares as he scored the only goal of the match to snap Manchester City's road losing streak in a 0-1 final.

The now-former champions of the Premier League did not let Chelsea's title clinch earlier in the day and their poor road form stop them. Above all of that is Sergio Aguero's goal rate against Spurs, whom he has had more success against than any other opponent. A swift counter-attack in the 22nd minute provided the only goal of the match. David Silva had loads of space as he entered the final third of Spurs and timed a perfect pass to Aguero sprinting into the box. At a tight angle, he smashed it inside the near post for his 23rd goal of the season. In addition, their defending was as effective as it has been in recent memory, shutting down some decent chances by Tottenham. Now two goals ahead of Kane for the Golden Boot, Kun will be licking his chops with a home match against QPR next.

Tottenham Hotspur squandered a chance to gain ground on Manchester United for one last push toward a Champions League place after losing at home to Manchester City, 0-1.

It was a battle between the two top goal scorers this season, Kane and Aguero, but it would be Aguero to find paydirt and White Hart Lane. Tottenham created some chances and had some nice moments from Erik Lamela and Eric Dier, but once they conceded the opener, it was City's defending that told the story. Kane is now two goals behind Aguero for the Golden Boot but should he fall short of that accomplishment, it has still been an amazing season well beyond anyone's expectations.

A hand injury forced Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker off at Anfield in GW35 as a late Steven Gerrard winner all but sealed the fate of Rangers’ who are now 7–points from safety with an inferior goal difference.

Caulker suffered a suspected fractured hand and his injury provided Suk-Young Yun with a chance of a return having missed the previous month after suffering from concussion against West Brom. The Korean international is the player most likely to be tasked with keeping Sergio Aguero quiet in GW36 if Caulker is ruled out although he may be able wear a protective cast. The availability of Rio Ferdinand is not currently known – the defender has battled his way back to full fitness but is now on compassionate leave after the player announced his wife – Rebecca - had lost her short battle with breast cancer.

John O’Shea ended his record of being the only Premier League player to have participated in every single minute of every game this season after failing to recover from a couple of early knocks against Southampton.

O’Shea required treatment following a collision with Shane Long before a rib injury ended his afternoon on the half hour mark as Santiago Vergini partnered Sebastian Coates in the heart of defence. Having won 3-points at the Stadium of Light Sunderland have given themselves a real chance of survival with a game in hand and Dick Advocaat will be sweating on the availability of his skipper. Wes Brown [knee] is expected to join the main group early next week but after almost 2-months out the defender may not be ready for a start.

Crystal Palace became the latest club to suffer at the hands of Chelsea, as the Eagles could not punch their way through a tough defense and lose 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Considering a win for Chelsea would crown them champions while Palace had little motivation to achieve a positive result, they still carried themselves well and played tight with the title winners. On the half hour mark, Jason Puncheon took a shot that John Terry was able to block, though questions will remain as to whether he knowingly committed handball. Regardless, Terry played like a true captain today, throwing himself in front of many a ball and protecting his keeper. Palace remain 12th in the table with a finish no higher than 11th looking likely.

Garry Monk has confirmed Nelson Oliveira will be assessed after the striker was forced off having failed to recover from a "heavy" Ryan Shawcross challenge during the win over Stoke on Saturday.

Oliveira has been struggling with a niggling problem for the past few weeks but the ferocity of the tackle rolled his ankle and the striker was unable to continue. Swansea [and the player] are hopeful the injury is not too serious although a thorough assessment won’t be carried out until Tuesday when hopefully the swelling subsides. Oliveira has 3-games to prove his worth and secure a permanent deal at the Liberty while Garry Monk is currently lacking an out-and-out striker with Bafetimbi Gomis [hamstring] out. Marvin Emnes or Modou Barrow are options to lead the line although neither are ideally suited.

Mike Williamson has issued a public apology to his Newcastle teammates and the club’s supporters but notably there was no mention of John Carver following the defenders sending-off at Leicester City.

Williamson took the unusual step of going public in response to the managers post-match comments at the King Power on Saturday after another demoralising – their seventh consecutive – defeat in the Premier League. Carver confirmed that the pair had exchanged words during the half-time interval and the interim boss insinuated that Williamson had gotten himself sent-off deliberately as his rash challenge on Jamie Vardy happened while both the ball and player were off the pitch. Williamson has refuted those claims but regardless the defender will serve a 2-game ban and may not be seen again in a black and white shirt. Daryl Janmaat is another definite absentee for the West Brom match [suspension]; skipper Fabricio Coloccini will be assessed after picking up a minor problem late in the game.

Christian Beneteke kept up his sizzling form with a pair of goals to help stave off Everton in an entertaining 3-2 win for Aston Villa.

He won't have enough time to win the Golden Boot but Benteke is in Beast Mode these days, making it look easy at times. Surely, he will want to see Tim Sherwood continue to manage the club next season considering the results. Villa went up in the 10th minute when he leaped high into the air to head home a Fabian Delph cross. He got his brace just before the half, heading again from a Jack Grealish corner, somehow unmarked. Villa would need it's third goal from Tom Cleverly as Everton would score two second half goals to make a game of it. Benteke has achieved "fixture-proof" status at this point.

West Brom defeated Manchester United 0-1 at Old Trafford through a Jonal Olsson goal.

The return of van Persie wasn't enough for Manchester as they couldn't find the back of the net against West Brom. Jonas Olsson's second half goal secured three very important points for the Baggies as they looked solid throughout the entire match and were able to hold off United late. The Red Devils had a 26-6 shot advantage including a 9-3 shot on target advantage, but they failed to make West Brom pay with some poor finishing and a great performance from goalkeeper Boaz Myhill. The Baggies are now seven points in front of the relegation zone and can relax a bit for the remainder of the season.

Steven Gerrard missed a penalty but recovered to score a late winner as Liverpool overcame QPR at Anfield 2-1.

It was an up and down match for Gerrard but it ended in a storybook way for the Liverpool legend as he scored the Reds' winner at the Kop End. It didn't come on his last appearance at the hallowed ground but the winner may serve as a final special memory on the pitch as the captain once again led his club to victory when it looked like they might have to settle for a draw. Gerrard's score came in the 88th minute after Philippe Coutinho and Leroy Fer scored on either side of halftime. Nedum Onuoha was sent off after he collected his second yellow card.
