Manchester City are on the verge of sealing the £28million signing of Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic.

So 23-year-old Jovetic looks set to be the man to replace Carlos Tevez, with reports suggesting the two clubs have finally agreed an initial fee of £23m that could rise by £5m in bonus payments. The Montenegrin can play either as an out-an-out striker or as a traditional number 10 behind the main forward, and the report also notes that Manuel Pellegrini wants an additional striker to fill the void left by Mario Balotelli. This is unlikely to be target Alvaro Negredo after Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido warned there is now only a ‘one per cent’ chance of a deal going through.

Mark Hughes continues to remake the Stoke City squad with the signing of former Barcelona rising star Bojan Krkic.

Krkic has seen his career stall in recent years after breaking Lionel Messi's record as the youngest Barcelona player ever to feature in a La Liga match. Tipped for great things, he has never lived up to the hype despite loan opportunities at Roma, AC Milan and Ajax in recent seasons. This is a high risk/high reward move for Stoke City on a player who is still only 23 years old and could easily still come good on his early promise with an extended run of matches under a less intense spotlight than his recent stops. He's definitely a new arrival to monitor over the first month of the season.

Looking to fill the Romelu Lukaku-sized hole in their front line, West Brom have broken their transfer record to sign Nigerian international Brown Ideye.

Ideye represents a big gamble for West Brom after a year of failed experiments at forward last season. At 6' tall and 155 lbs., the Nigerian will never be mistaken for Romelu Lukaku but he is capable of holding down the middle and letting West Brom's runners like Stephane Sessegnon and Saido Berahino play off of him. Never a huge goal scorer in either France (17 goals in 52 appearances) or Russia (33 in 74), he is coming into his prime at 25-years-old and could still have some upside for the Baggies in addition to providing the focal point that has been missing since Lukaku's loan spell ended. He would have to improve on his Dynamo Kiev goal-scoring rate while stepping up in competition to be a serious fantasy consideration.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is still hoping to sign Marcos Alonso but admits a deal is 'close, but not close enough'.

Alonso had a successful loan spell from January of last season, making 16 Premier League appearances including some key performances during Sunderland's remarkable run-in to avoid relegation. The defender returned to Fiorentina in May and the Italian club would like to keep him, but Alonso himself is reportedly keen to return to the Premier League. Gus Poyet is working on a permanent deal ahead of the new season, with the Black Cats desperate to add another full-back to their squad.

Newell's Old Boys are confident they can end Ignacio Scocco's Sunderland struggles and take him back to Argentina.

Scocco was signed in January and was expected to provide competition for Steven Fletcher and Jozy Altidore, but the move has been a disaster. The 29-year-old striker failed to start a game or score a goal after his arrival, as Gus Poyet limited him to just six disappointing appearances from the bench, and with Sunderland prepared to cut their losses, Newell's Old Boys expect to complete a deal within the next few days.

QPR have signed Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker for an undisclosed fee.

While the deal is undisclosed the majority of media outlets are reporting a four-year-deal and a fee in the region of £8.5million. The 22-year-old defender leaves relegated Cardiff to join up with his former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, and instantly boosts the chances of Queens Park Rangers avoiding relegation this season. England international (with one cap so far) Caulker will form a new partnership alongside recently signed veteran Rio Ferdinand, and should provide value in the Yahoo fantasy game having been one of the most productive defensive point scorers last season.

Jose Campana has completed his transfer from Crystal Palace to Sampdoria for an undisclosed fee.

A lot was expected of Campana when he joined the Eagles from Sevilla last summer, but the truth is the young man never settled at Selhurst Park and was loaned out to Nuremberg of Germany in the January transfer window. The midfielder returned to the club in late May but was not in Tony Pulis' plans for the season ahead and so he has been allowed to leave for Sampdoria for a nominal fee.

Erik Lamela has insisted that he never considered leaving Tottenham Hotspur and is ready to show his best form this season after recovering from injury

Lamela signed for a club record fee of approximately £30million last summer, but had a desperate first season in the Premier League. The 22-year-old struggled to settle in a new country, failed to grasp the language, hit an extended patch of poor form and suffered numerous injuries, meaning he only featured in six league games. A move back to Serie A had been widely reported, but the Argentinian winger is making all the right noises in the press about the season ahead, with the arrival of new manager and countryman Mauricio Pochettino mentioned as a huge positive in his quotes. Time to prove your doubters wrong, Erik.

Tottenham midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has flown back from the club's pre-season training camp in Seattle ahead of a potential move to Swansea.

So after a week of rumours linking Sigurdsson to Crystal Palace after a fee was agreed, it appears the midfielder is returning to his former club Swansea. The 24-year-old is set to have a medical on Tuesday as part of a straight swap for Swansea's Wales full-back Ben Davies. The move makes sense for both the clubs and the player, and would also be good news for fantasy managers, with Sigurdsson likely to be handed a first team role and set piece duty if the transfer goes through.

This story comes as a bit of a surprise, with Vorm set to join Tottenham to provide back-up to Hugo Lloris. Sky Sports are reporting the 30-year-old Netherlands international has been granted permission to speak to Spurs after the Premier League clubs agreed a fee over the weekend, thought to be in the region of £5million. Vorm was set to have to battle it out with new signing Lukas Fabianski at the Liberty Stadium and appears to have decided he would rather compete with Lloris at White Hart Lane, where he is likely to be handed the jersey for Tottenham's domestic cup and Europa League matches if the deal goes through.
