Edin Dzeko's first-half header saw Manchester City beat South China 1-0 in their Asia Trophy semi-final in Hong Kong.

So Dzeko - the man who could leave City after the arrivals of Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic - scored the only goal of the game. The report notes that James Milner was named man of the match and Negredo got some minutes in the second half.

Southampton pulled together in remarkable fashion to pull out a 1-0 win against West Ham while playing the final 36 minutes of the match a man down.

Victor Wanyama was sent off with a straight red card in the 54th minute for a mindless challenge from behind on Dimtri Payet after losing possession in midfield. The Kenyan was given his marching orders for the third time this season, but Southampton tightened up at the back in its 3-5-2 formation to hold on for the win, which brings the club into seventh in the table. Maya Yoshida contributed the winner in the ninth minute after Wanyama poked a pass toward the center of the box in the ninth minute. Meanwhile, Southampton has now recorded five straight Premier League clean sheets since Fraser Forster's return

Everton dominated from beginning to end as they heaped more misery on slumping Stoke City.

Lukaku scored his goal from the penalty spot and had another attempt deflected onto the crossbar and out by Jack Butland. Despite Butland's attempted heroics the Toffees also got goals from Seamus Coleman and Aaron Lennon as they marched to a 3-0 win.

Gianelli Imbula may be a promising talent but he wasn't nearly enough to reverse Stoke City's recent fortunes.

With a raft of central defenders injured it was always going to be a big ask for the Potters to hold high-flying Everton. That defensive weakness was apparent early as Mark Hughes' side conceded three first half goals. The worrying aspect to Stoke Vity's slump I'd that their previously strong attack has been neutered at the same time the defense has fallen prey to injuries.

Leicester City made the biggest statement for their case to be title-winners this season, defeating Manchester City at The Etihad, 0-3, with two goals from Robert Huth.

Every week, people wonder if the Foxes can maintain their Cinderella story season, and every week they only seem to get stronger. They went ahead quickly, when Huth turned in from close range, coming from a Riyad Mahrez free kick in the 3rd minute. It was three minutes into the second half when Mahrez broke down a shoddy defensive effort by the Citizens to work his way into the area and fire home his 14th league goal. Huth then put the game to bed on the hour mark, heading in from a Christian Fuchs corner. The Foxes got a bit too comfortable late on and would concede, but overall, they look as sharp as they have all season. They are now six points clear of Manchester City for the top spot.

Manchester City had a chance to jump above Leicester City for top spot in the table with a home win today, but they were beaten handily by the Foxes, 1-3

There is no stopping Leicester it seems as City witnessed on a wet afternoon in Manchester. Statistically, City looked to be the better side. They had plenty of possession in the final third and had nine corners and a few free kicks from dangerous areas. The Foxes just had a solid defensive performance led by Kasper Schmeichel in goal and Robert Huth, who would score two of Leicester's three goals. The City defense certainly didn't perform like title contenders. As a consolation for fantasy managers and City alike, Sergio Aguero managed to score in the final minutes as the Foxes saw the game out. City's gap with Leicester doubles from three to six points now and may slip behind Tottenham if Spurs win later today.

Tottenham pressured the Watford defense in the final third all afternoon and finally broke through with a Kieran Trippier goal to edge the Hornets, 1-0, raising them to second place in the table.

Spurs dominated the stat sheet when it came to possession, completed passes, corners taken, and just about any other category you can apply, but they were frustrated by not finding an end product for the first hour. Dele Alli, who began the match on the bench, made an immediate impact as a substitute, sending a low cross across the mouth of goal to find Trippier who poked in hist first goal of the season. Trippier was quite the hero on the day - three times he was met with challenges that brought him to ground, but he played through the pain and scored the match winner. The three points move Spurs above Manchester City, the very opponent they will take on next weekend.

Joleon Lescott and Gabby Agbonlahor helped Aston Villa earn their third win of the season.

This was a huge win for Villa, who needed the points in an already uphill battle to avoid relegation. Norwich were especially bad in this one, and Declan Rudd looked completely lost on the second goal. Norwich are now in the relegation zone, and they will have to fight off Sunderland and Aston Villa. The relegation race has a number of contenders, but this win was huge to give Aston Villa at least a small chance of survival.

Wahbi Khazri is proving to be just the player this Sunderland attack needed to make a survival push after the Black Cats came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw.

Down 2-0 with just eight minutes remaining, Sunderland stormed back for two quick goals in the final 10 minutes. First came Adam Johnson's curling free-kick in the 82nd minute after Khazri drew a foul just outside the box. Anticipating Khazri's free-kick, the Liverpool wall shifted too far to the right, allowing Johnson to curl his shot around the wall and into the bottom corner past Simon Mignolet. Minutes later, Khazri drew two defenders before threading a pass to Jermain Defoe for the equalizer to steal a point at Anfield. Sunderland now sit four points back of leaving the relegation zone after Newcastle's win. In team news, Duncan Watmore got the start over Fabio Borini while Khazri came in for an injured Jeremain Lens.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a beautiful goal to help Swansea earn a point in their home match against Crystal Palace.

Swansea haven't been able to get much done lately but Gylfi Sigurdsson has been fantastic and scored a beautiful free-kick in the today's draw. New signing Alberton Paloschi started the match but wasn't very effective and will need to improve if Swansea want to stay out of the relegation zone. For now, fantasy managers can enjoy Gylfi Sigurdsson go wild.

Liverpool let a forgettable final 10 minutes put a damper on what should have been a gutsy win after conceding two late goals to allow Sunderland to steal a point in a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

As often the case this season, Liverpool outshot its opponents by more than double but struggled to find the back of the net. But Roberto Firmino gave the Reds a lead just before the hour mark with a precise header back across goal after a looping cross to the back post from James Milner on the left wing. Firmino was at it again just 11 minutes later after intercepting a pass on the wing and beating Billy Jones into the penalty area, before cutting a pass back across the box to Adam Lallana for a wide-open goal. But Jurgen Klopp won't be happy with the defense upon his return from appendicitis, which caused him to miss the match, in addition to another injury to a member of the back-line with Dejan Lovren leaving in the 12th minute. However, Daniel Sturridge was deemed fit to make the squad for the first time in 2016.

When Jonny Evans went down with a hamstring strain against Swansea in Week 24, Tony Pulis chose to use Craig Gardner rather than James Chester despite Chester being the only recognized center back on the bench.

Things have gone horribly wrong for James Chester since his arrival at the Hawthorns over the summer. Acquiring Chester wasn't cheap but given Tony Pulis' penchant for starting three or even four center backs across the back line, it was easy to see a path to Chester getting significant playing time even after Jonny Evans was also acquired. Since then though, Chester has apparently fallen further and further down the pecking order at the Hawthorns to the point where he isn't even getting the call when he's the only center back available. Expect a summer move away.
