Cardiff have signed England international defender Steven Caulker from Tottenham for a club record fee, understood to be in excess of £8m.

Having begun last season as first choice after Younes Kaboul's long-term injury, Caulker had fallen behind Jan Vertonghen and Michael Dawson, so with Kaboul back in training he was understandably concerned about his first team opportunities. However, it seems very surprising that Spurs have allowed him to leave on a permanent transfer when a loan deal was a viable option. One thing is for sure - Cardiff have got themselves a fantastic defender, and Andre Villas-Boas will need to sign a replacement.

Chelsea legend and captain John Terry scored the opening and eventual game-winning goal for the second straight match as the Blues continue to pace the league at the top of the table with a tidy 2-0 win over West Ham United.

Chelsea were in complete control in this one but they did not get their first payoff until a half hour in, when a Cesc Fabregas corner was headed by Diego Costa to the foot of Terry who tapped it in. Costa would have yet another big day himself, scoring the second goal in the second half. West Ham turned the ball over, Eden Hazard threaded a pass to Costa, and the Spaniard shook off three defenders to fire a patented missile past the Hammer keeper. Hazard was a doubt to make this match and went to ground just two minutes in, but he shook off the knock and played the full 90 minutes.

Adrian made the most of a match in which he was constantly under fire by Chelsea's attack, making several saves, but the volume was too much to handle as the Blues would beat him twice and the Hammers would leave Stamford Bridge empty-handed in a 2-0 loss.

Adrian made seven official saves and most of them were of the acrobatic variety. A couple of them came in the game's opening half hour and it allowed West Ham to keep things level until Chelsea finally broke through. The Hammers meanwhile offered very little threat, with their best two chances being supplied by substitute Morgan Amalfitano late on when Chelsea were already sporting a two goal cushion. Though Adrian is bound to have an unappealing fantasy score from this match, he should be a solid buy in kinder fixtures ahead.

Eden Hazard had been deemed doubtful to play on Boxing Day due to a knock he picked up last week but was able to get fit in time and start against West Ham United.

Hazard not only started but shined in the Blues' 2-0 victory. He assisted the second goal of the match to Diego Costa and played the entire 90 minutes. He is still at risk to be rested and Sunday's match against Southampton could be the one. Make sure to have a backup available if you are playing him during this holiday season.

Fantasy managers should keep the expectations for Andy Carroll rather low for the time being.

Carroll has played well in the past few matches but has to face Chelsea and Arsenal in his next two matches. That is no easy task even for an in form striker and Carroll is still regaining his form after being out for so long. The Hammers' schedule eases up after that and Carroll could be a great buy early in the New Year.

Leicester midfielder Andrew King believes Tottenham are beatable despite being a top squad.

King had a lot of praises for Tottenham but ended on a high note, saying he believes Spurs are beatable and it's up to the Foxes to find a weekend on Boxing Day. Despite his confidence, King is averaging only four fantasy points per match is not worth owning in any league.

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has agreed to personal terms with Inter Milan.

The forward has been an outcast this season and has played only 106 minutes in the Premier League. He wasn't even able to get playing time when Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud suffered an injury. Despite him agreeing to personal terms with Inter, there hasn't been any news of the two teams agreeing on a fee for Podolski. Stay tuned as the story develops.

Dusan Tadic trained with the main group starting on Monday and is expected to be fine for gameweek 18.

The midfielder has been in a huge scoring slump and missed the match against Everton through a minor knock. Although he should be fine to play on Friday, we don't recommend using him in daily leagues or season-long formats where you have other options. Only keep Tadic if you have him at a big discount, as he's bound to regain some of his old form back at some point in time.

Gabby Agbonlahor has won his red card appeal and will not have to serve a three-match ban.

The forward was sent off during Aston Villa's last match but he has won his appeal and that has been overturned. Gabby has never been sent off in his Premier League career and that remains true. He has not been a great fantasy option this season and despite playing tomorrow, it's hard to consider him in anything other than the deepest of formats.

Alexis Sanchez is expected to be rested at some point in time during the congested holiday period.

Sanchez has been deemed fatigued in recent weeks and that likely won't see him playing all three games over the next week. The Arsenal forward has been in hot form in the past few months and will be missed when he rests but the return Olivier Giroud will make everything a bit easier for the Gunners. We would recommend checking the starting lineups here on Rotoworld before firing up Sanchez in leagues where you can make changes up until kickoff.

Sam Vokes is on track to return to the first team squad any day now, with tomorrow's match against Liverpool a possible top flight debut for the Burnley striker.

Vokes was instrumental in Burnley's rise out of the Championship a season ago, and with the Clarets usually struggling to find that extra oomph in their attack, his return has been highly anticipated. By not having played a minute this season, his price is low in any format of the game but there is no need to run out and get him yet. Burnley are still a one man team when it comes to fantasy, and his name is Kieran Trippier. Regardless, we should see some improvement when Vokes eventually partners Danny Ings up top.

Making his first start since Week 6 last weekend and Brendan Rodgers apparently pleased with what he saw with a shakeup in formation, Lazar Markovic could be poised for a run in the side which puts him on the fantasy radar.

Rodgers liked what he saw when deploying three center backs and using wingers with Markovic having played on the right last weekend. He didn't score or assist but still managed a respectable 8 points in the Yahoo game, having been subbed off on 73 minutes. Still under 21, there is plenty of room for the prospect to grow and make his mark in the Premier League. At 5.66m in the Yahoo game, it is a situation worth monitoring closely.
