After being linked with a move away for two seasons now, Asmir Begovic has pledged his long-term future to the club.

Liverpool opted for Sunderland's Simon Mignolet, and a rumored move to Arsenal never materialized. Begovic will have a key part to play under Mark Hughes as Stoke need to rediscover their defensive resiliency.

Argentinian international Ricardo Alvarez has completed a season-long loan move to the Stadium of Light.

This is quite a coup for Sunderland, with 26-year-old Alvarez joining the club from Italian giants Inter Milan, where he scored 14 goals in 90 appearances. The skillful midfielder has been capped seven times by Argentina and was part of his country's 2014 World Cup squad. He will add some attacking quality to to the Black Cats' midfield, competing with the likes of Emanuele Giaccherini and Jordi Gomez for a place in the starting XI, and could prove an interesting fantasy asset in the Yahoo game.

Sunderland defender Valentin Roberge has joined French Ligue One side Stade de Reims on a season-long loan.

Roberge is yet another of the signings made by Paolo Di Canio last summer who failed to make the grade in the Premier League. The defender made 13 appearances for the Black Cats but he doesn't feature in Gus Poyet's plans for the new campaign and has been allowed to returned to his homeland on loan for the rest of the season.

Sunderland have signed Liverpool center-back Sebastian Coates on a season-long loan.

The defender is far back in the pecking order at Liverpool as Dejan Lovren's arrival has pushed everyone back a place at the position. The defender missed most of last season with a torn ACL and despite being Uruguay's World Cup squad, he hasn't been in a single match-day squad for Liverpool this season. It's unknown how much playing time Coates will get at Sunderland so approach with caution.

Tottenham have signed midfielder Benjamin Stambouli from Montpellier.

Stambouli is a very solid defensive midfielder and comes after Tottenham were trashed by Liverpool over the weekend. He should help a struggling defense this season and is a great signing by Spurs. Fantasy wise, Stambouli is not one for the credible fantasy manager. He only has three goals in 112 matches with Montpellier and doesn't produce enough attacking stats to make himself fantasy relevant.

Lewis Holtby has officially been loaned out by Tottenham Hotspur to Bundesliga side Hamburg SV on a year long deal.

The move comes as little surprise as rumors of this very deal surfaced last week and Holtby is too young and promising a player to bee spending the majority of his season on Mauricio Pochettino's bench. Holtby was loaned out to Fulham last January in an effort to help the Cottagers avoid relegation but had little impact as Felix Magath chose several times not to select the talented midfielder for a squad begging for talent. He should fair better in his home country this time around.

Swansea City have agree to send midfielder Jose Canas to La Liga side Espanyol on a free transfer.

The Spanish defensive midfielder heads back to La Liga after just a year spent in the Premier League. Current boss Garry Monk did not have plans for him and with former manager Michael Laudrup having signed him originally on a free transfer, the experiment didn't hurt the club financially, but moving him does take some wages off the ledger. The heavy Spanish influence that permeated through South Wales when the Swans were promoted a few years back has essentially dwindled down to just Angel Rangel and Jordi Amat.

Hull City continue their deadline day dealings by signing striker Abel Hernandez from Serie A side Palermo for a £10m transfer fee.

A nice bit of maneuvering by the Tigers as they dealt Shane Long to Southampton for £12m. They bank £2m in the exchange and have a younger striker with arguably more potential who is fresh off of some priceless World Cup experience. He was also instrumental in helping Palermo's promotion to Serie A last season, scoring 14 goals in 28 appearances. Steve Bruce should have his two striker formation in place as Hernandez and Jelavic look to be regular partners up top.

Manchester United have agreed to sign Colombia striker Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco.

This is a massive move by Manchester United, with Falcao regarded as one of the top strikers in world football, having cost Monaco £50million in 2013. The Colombian's arrival is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms, but the majority of media outlets are reporting these issues as mere formalities. The completion of a deal for Falcao (for a £6million loan fee) is likely to see Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck leave Old Trafford before the end of the day. A striker had not seemed to be a priority position for United to fill, and there will be questions raised regarding Louis van Gaal's ability to fit Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Falcao, Juan Mata and £60million record signing Angel Di Maria in to a balanced starting XI.

Burnley have acquired the services of midfielder/defender Nathaniel Chalobah from Chelsea on a loan deal that will expire in January.

Chalobah continues to be farmed out as the 19 year old develops. This follows loan spells with Watford, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough but now Chalobah will get a chance to experience life in the top flight. It should be a positive addition to Burnley's survival hopes. With the pedigree of being Chelsea property, Chalobah should have a chance to see plenty of pitch time at Turf Moor.

Sunderland AFC has confirmed that defender Modibo Diakite has left the club by mutual consent.

Diakite was one of the many signings from Paolo Di Canio's ill-fated reign in 2013, but the defender never got close to securing a spot in the Sunderland first team. He was sent on loan to Serie A side Fiorentina for much of last season and was never in Gus Poyet's plans for the current campaign, so the player has been released from his contract.

Despite the striker’s worrying departure on a stretcher at The Etihad on Saturday Mark Hughes confirmed post-match that the injury suffered by Peter Odemwingie was "nothing sinister." However after a weekend of further testing fears are beginning to mount that the Nigerian striker could be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with suspected cruciate ligament damage.

Peter Odemwingie had just returned to the Stoke first team squad following his late arrival post-World Cup and was introduced as a second half substitute in Manchester but collapsed to the turf after 20 minutes as he stood away from the play. If confirmed, the injury could sideline the Stoke player for around 9 months with Mark Hughes potentially making a late move in the transfer market on deadline day as the Potters look for additional attacking cover.
