Loic Remy has become Newcastle United's first signing of the transfer window, joining from Queens Park Rangers on a one-year loan deal.

Remy is a very good striker, who showed his qualities last season in a doomed bid to save Rangers from relegation. He can play up-front on his own, or off a main striker like Papiss Cisse. There is still a rape charge hanging over the player, so this move is not without risk for the Magpies.

Nik Argiropoulos is tipping defender Nathan Ake to perform well this weekend as Bournemouth host Watford.

A regular in Nik's column during his Bournemouth loan spell last season, Ake contributes a variety of fantasy points for defensive contributions while offering a threat at set pieces (three goals in eight PL starts last term). We saw a glimpse of these qualities against West Brom last weekend with the young centre-back winning four tackles, four aerial duels, making three clearances, an interception and producing a shot on target, returning 10 points in Togga's Perfect XI format despite a disappointing defeat for the Cherries. He can surpass that score in victory at home to Watford.

Nik expects Henrikh Mkhitaryan to shine again as improving Manchester United visit struggling Swansea.

Points chasing? Perhaps. Nik has never been Mkhitaryan's biggest fan but those 90 minutes against West Ham were enough to convince that he deserves a spot in his fantasy team for Week 2. With the opposition so concerned about trying to match the power and pace of Pogba, Matic, Lukaku, Rashford etc. it looks as though it will leave the necessary time and space for the Armenian to weave his magic from the No. 10 position. Don't let us down Henrikh.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has forced his way in to Nik's fantasy team for Week 2.

Liverpool may be a shambles at the back but there has been a positive in their first two games, and it's the form of local boy Alexander-Arnold, deputising for Nathaniel Clyne. The youngster still has a lot to learn defensively but he's doing ok, is taking corners and curled in a beautiful free-kick again Hoffenheim last night. He'll continue on set piece duty against Palace which should bring plenty of point scoring opportunities. Just don't expect a clean sheet, even with Wilf Zaha missing for the Eagles.

Dusan Tadic tipped to be the key man for Southampton as they look to hammer West Ham in gameweek 2.

Tadic is something of enigma, with Saints fans split down the middle in their opinions. Misunderstood genius or wasteful luxury? We're not here to judge; all we know is that the Serbian can be an extremely effective fantasy performer in his attacking midfield role behind the central striker. He took four shots, created two chances and sent in eight crosses against Swansea, with little reward, and yet this still yielded 15 points. He can top that total against the Hammers.

Tottenham submitted a bid for Ajax center back Davinson Sanchez for a fee worth up to a club-record £40m, and the Eredivisie club has accepted the offer.

Having yet to spend a penny in the summer window, Spurs are poised to take the bulk of the 50m they pocketed from the sale of Kyle Walker and re-invest it in the promising 21-year-old Colombian international. When interest first leaked of interest in the player, Ajax took a stance that Sanchez was not on the market, but Sanchez himself gave every indication he would be happier with the move and now the deal looks like it will get done. At minimum, Spurs are in need of cover at the position and Kevin Wimmer may still depart before the window closes. But Sanchez could work his way into the XI rather quickly if he can get acclimated and join Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in a three center back formation that Mauricio Pochettino has come to prefer. Assuming he signs,he is likely worth a stash in most draft leagues if you can afford to preserve him on your bench until he carves out his role.

Brighton and Republic or Ireland defender Shane Duffy has signed a new contract with the club.

Duffy has signed a four year deal which will keep him at the AMEX until 2021. Duffy signed for Brighton for a club record £4 million fee from Blackburn Rovers, going on to partner club stalwart Lewis Dunk in the heart of the promotion winning defence.

Brighton and Hove Albion centre-back Lewis Dunk has signed a new long-term contract which signs him to the club until 2022.

Dunk made his first-team debut in 2011 for the club, and bar a short loan spell he has spent his whole professional career there. He has contributed to Brighton's rise up the top three tiers of English football. He will be hoping he can bounce back from scoring an own-goal in Brighton's first ever Premier League game against Man City last weekend by helping his team survive this season.

Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert has signed a new five year contract with the club.

The new deal will keep the former Leicester man at the AMEX until 2022. Knockaert signed for Brighton in January 2016 and has been clinical for the Seagulls, scoring 20 times in just 65 league games as well as creating many chances for his teammates. He is currently the Championship Player of the Season after driving his side to promotion last term. Knockaert may get his first PL start for Brighton this weekend at the grounds of his former club Leicester after spending another week recovering from an ankle injury suffered in pre-season. The Frenchman played for just 13 minutes against Man City last weekend after coming on as a sub.

Brighton are one step closer to having new signing Jose Izquierdo playing for the club.

Brighton agreed a club record fee, believed to be £13.5m with Belgian side Club Brugge to sign Izquierdo. The club have now announced that they have to get international clearance for the move. When the deal was first announced by Hughton, he said: "Jose is someone we have been aware of for sometime and has been one of the stand-out players in the Belgian league over the past three year. He's been an exciting player for Club Brugge and in the season he helped the club win the title in 2015-16 he was also Belgium's Player of the Year." The left-winger could yet be in Brighton's squad to face Leicester on Saturday.

Southampton winger Nathan Redmond has said that he "didn't believe how attacking" the team could be.

Last season, the Saints broadly disappointed mostly due to their inability to score, a fact underlined by the side scoring just 17 goals in 19 home games last season - a tally bettered by all but Sunderland. Redmond admitted that the team were "hesitant" at times last season, explaining that he knows he was. "There was a period at the start of the season when I was a bit more free flowing and had a stint towards Christmas when I was a bit hesitant." He went on to point out the EFL Cup Final defeat as a point where the side lost confidence. Redmond himself stated that he aims to reach double-figures for goals scored in the league this year after notching up seven last term. He said that new manager Mauricio Pellegrino has built "belief and confidence" within the squad and he expects the Saints' goal hoodoo to end soon.

Brighton midfielder Izzy Brown, on loan from Chelsea, will not be available for selection by Chris Hughton this weekend.

The Seagulls' second ever Premier League game and first on the road takes them to Leicester but Brown will not be there owing to a hamstring injury. The youngster spent the last week at his parent club being assessed but will now return to Brighton to continue his recovery. Defensive midfielder Beram Kayal and forward Sam Baldock are also sidelined this weekend. However, the good news for the club is that Anthony Knockaert may be fit to start against his former club after coming off the bench for 13 minutes last weekend.
