Wilfried Bony's debut goal was minor consolation for Swansea in an ugly season-opening loss to Manchester United.

Swansea came off of the summer on a high fueled by strong signings and early Europa Cup success only to get crushed in their opener by Manchester United. In a surprise move, Bony was held out at the beginning of the match. He came on at halftime and immediately made the Swans more dangerous but United was just too much for the defending League Cup champions.

Manuel Lanzini is in jeopardy of missing Tuesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final trip to Arsenal after being changed by the FA for simulation in the win over Stoke City.

The Argentine playmaker has been in fine form during West Ham's three-match unbeaten run, assisting on Marko Arnautovic's winner against Chelsea and all three goals in the over Stoke City. However, Lanzini was charged for deceiving a match official by 'going to the ground and winning a penalty' at the weekend and must decide whether to accept a two-match ban or contest the charge by 6 pm on Tuesday. West Ham are already dealing with a number of injuries, so the absence of Lanzini would force David Moyes to make a few changes for midweek cup clash as well as the visit of Newcastle on Saturday. Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew could be recalled to the starting XI, with Cheikhou Kouyate (hamstring), Mark Noble (hamstring) and Arnautovic (calf) all in doubt.

West Ham manager David Moyes has revealed that Joe Hart will start in goal for Tuesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Moyes confirmed that Hart "will definitely start" when the Hammers travel to the Emirates tomorrow night. The start will be the first for the England international since the 4-0 defeat at Everton, though it’s unlikely one outing will be enough to displace the in-form Adrian. The Spaniard impressed against Manchester City with Hart ineligible due to his loan agreement and has retained his place since, keeping three successive clean sheets after impressing at the Etihad. Moyes told the club's website: "I’ve said all along that we have two really good goalkeepers and the two of them have been excellent. Joe been very good around the place and he’s ready to play." Meanwhile, Winston Reid is available after a one-match ban and Andy Carroll (back) could be fit after missing the trip to Stoke City at the weekend.

Elias Kachunga is set for an extended period on the sidelines after scan results confirm the 25-year-old suffered an "isolated knee ligament" injury during the win over Watford.

Kachunga set the Terriers on their way to a resounding 4-1 victory thanks to his opening goal on 6 minutes, although his afternoon was cut short soon following a challenge by Heurelho Gomes. While no blame can be attributed to the Watford goalkeeper, who dived bravely at the feet of Kachunga, the striker went over awkwardly and was stretchered from the pitch. On Monday, Huddersfield confirmed that Kachunga had damaged his MCL [Medial collateral ligament] and, ahead of a specialist visit, estimated that he would be out for between 8-12 weeks. However, there was better news concerning Chris Löwe who was also replaced during the first half at Vicarage Road. The left-back sustained a foot injury in a heavy challenge with Daryl Janmaat although a scan confirms there is no break and he could yet feature on Saturday.

Sergio Aguero cut a lonely figure after he was replaced before the hour mark during Saturday’s demolition of Tottenham at the Etihad.

The Argentine threw his gloves to floor and walked off without so much as a cursory glance towards Pep as Gabriel Jesus entered the fray. But, while there no obvious sign of an injury, Spanish correspondent - Jose Alvarez Haya – suggests Aguero has been managing a persistent heel problem since the 1-1 draw with Everton back in August. A build-up of fluid means the striker is being carefully monitored by club doctors which could go some way to explaining why he has only completed 90 minutes on six occasions this season. Although the problem is not thought to be serious, it does mean that Aguero is at risk of losing game time, particularly with Jesus waiting in the wings. Haya also went onto suggest via his personal Twitter account that the striker could be on his way out of Manchester "very soon" as he doesn’t feel valued by Pep Guardiola.

Antonio Valencia is at risk of missing the entire festive programme after limping off at the Hawthorns due to a hamstring problem.

The Ecuadorian was replaced midway the second half, and if tests confirm Valencia has suffered a muscular strain, then it’s likely to mean at least 2-3 weeks on the sidelines. When asked for an update post-match, Mourinho mused. "This is what I call a December injury. It is an injury of accumulation of fatigue. It is a muscular one. Hamstring. Big, small, medium, I don't know." On how long he could be out, the United boss replied. "Let’s wait," although the player himself posted an update via Instagram which read. "Thanks for your support and concern. I am fine." However, I’d read very little into this. Options include shifting Ashley Young onto the opposite flank with Luke Shaw coming in at left-back or Daley Blind / Marcos Rojo playing on the right. Mourinho may also consider a 3-5-2 now that Paul Pogba is available following his three-match ban.

Eddie Howe admitted that injuries to Josh King and Charlie Daniels are a "huge worry" after the pair limped off against Liverpool.

The Cherries were on the receiving end of a 4-0 hammering at the Vitality and matters were compounded further by the loss of two key players. "We don't know the situation with either," said the Bournemouth boss. "It's a huge worry though regarding Charlie Daniels and Joshua King. It was a hamstring injury with King and a groin injury for Daniels so we're not sure at the moment." Given the close proximity of games during this period, even a slight strain could rule the pair of the next 2-3 matches, which would be a major blow considering Bournemouth sit just one-point above the relegation zone. However, there was some good news concerning Callum Wilson who was a notable absentee from the matchday squad on Sunday. The striker had an injection in his knee to treat a "minute problem" which is nothing serious.

Liverpool's attack was too much for Bournemouth to handle as they won 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The Reds needed just 20 minutes to open the scoring through Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian, who hit the post earlier with a free kick, capped off a stellar solo run by evading a challenge and slotting the ball past Asmir Begovic. Dejan Lovren scored the second six minutes later with a diving header, before Mohamed Salah made it 3-0 just on 44 minutes. The in-form Egyptian scored his 11th goal in 11 matches with a brilliant individual effort, becoming the first Premier League player to have scored 20 in all competitions this season. Roberto Firmino provided the fourth goal with a header as the victory extends Liverpool's unbeaten streak to 12 matches in all competitions. Meanwhile, Bournemouth are now winless in six games.

Manchester United held on in the end to take all three points with a 2-1 win over West Brom at The Hawthorns.

United started the game well and rushed into an early 2-0 lead. First, Lukaku got his second goal in as many games by leaping to direct a cross from the left by Marcus Rashford beyond the reach of Ben Foster. United extended their lead soon after with Jesse Lingard's shot deflected off Ahmed Hegazi into the Baggies' net. Gareth Barry pulled one back in the second half as United became complacent and failed press their possession advantage into more goals. United could even have blown their lead as West Brom pushed them for an equaliser and only for De Gea's ability they would have conceded in a late goalmouth scramble. United cut City's lead at the top to 11 points, West Brom stay stuck in the relegation zone in 19th.

The David Moyes revolution continues at West Ham as they won 3-0 at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

The match started an hour late due to a power outage at the stadium. It was the visitors who provided all the power once the match started with goals from Mark Noble, Marko Arnautovic, and Diafra Sakho. The Hammers have climbed up to 15th pending Sunday and Monday's results.

Once again, there was no stopping league-leading Manchester City in a dominant 4-1 win against Tottenham.

Manchester City extended its lead to 14 points atop the Premier League table and its league win streak to 16, but got a star performance from the least expected source. With David Silva missing out due to personal reasons, Ilkay Gundogan started in place of the Spanish maestro, recording a goal and assist. His headed goal in the 14th minute go things going, and then the German international set up Kevin De Bruyne for the second in the 70th minute as De Bruyne slammed one past Hugo Lloris from a tight angle. Then it was Raheem Sterling's chance to get on the board after a hat-trick's worth of missed opportunities, scoring a double with a goal in the 80th and 90th minutes before Christian Eriksen's consolation goal ruined the clean sheet.

Brighton and Hove Albion tried their best, but were the latest to fall prey to the resolute Burnley defense, as the two sides played to a 0-0 final.

Charlie Taylor got his first start at left back and Phil Bardsley kept his place over a fit Matt Lowton as Burnley once again played their brand of football with success. Brighton were the only side threatening to score as the first half wore on and a big moment came in the 35th minute, when James Tarkowski fouled Glenn Murray in the box. Lucky for the Clarets, Murray skied his spot kick. The best chance for Burnley going forward came in the 74th minute when Chris Wood attempted a chip on the keeper but it took a fine save to keep it out. Fantasy investment in Sean Dyche's defense continues to deliver.
