Roberto Soldado converted a penalty kick in the 50th minute to account for the lone goal in a 1-0 Tottenham win over Crystal Palace.

Earned on a handball committed by Palace's Dean Moxey, the newly acquired striker opened his account for Spurs with a confident strike from the penalty spot. At a salivating price of just 7.24, he looks a top option at forward in the coming weeks as Tottenham have a kind opening run of fixtures that continues at home next week against a recently battered Swansea side. You won't find much more of a bargain at the moment in the game, his price is destined to rise.

Alexandre Lacazette scored on either half of the break as Arsenal beat West Brom and perpetual nemesis Tony Pulis 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium to close out Week 6 in the Premier League.

Arsenal's first goal had a hint of luck about it as Alexis Sanchez's free kick from outside the box rebounded off the bar and right to Alexandre Lacazette to power home with his head. The second goal of the match, also from the France international, came after Aaron Ramsey won a penalty in the second half. Lacazette's take was assured and gave the Gunners some breathing room as they closed out the match.

Mesut Ozil was again absent from Arsene Wenger's starting eleven despite the manager affirming his availability in his pre-match press conference.

Arsenal found success drawing at Stamford Bridge with Mesut Ozil out of the line-up and followed that up with a win against West Brom today with the World Cup winner again left watching. Ozil did come on late but it is worth noting that with Danny Welbeck out injured Arsene Wenger had the perfect opportunity to reinsert the German into the line-up if he was still part of Wenger's preferred eleven. With a Europa Cup match coming on Thursday before what should be a relatively easy match against Bournemouth at the weekend it will be interesting to see what part Ozil plays going forward.

Jay Rodriguez will have wanted a first half penalty called against Shkodran Mustafi but it wasn't to be as Arsenal moved past it and beat West Brom 2-0 at the Emirates.

Rodriguez played a good match and it was one that could have been much better had he stayed down and forced the hand of the referee when he was tackled hard in the box by Arsenal's Shkodran Mustafi. Rather than staying down, Rodriguez recovered and kept on with his attacking move. It was the right move to make from a sporting point of view but probably not the most pragmatic thing to do. Let off the hook for a difficult call, the official let play continue and Arsenal came through unscathed. The Gunners went on to score two Alexandre Lacazette goals while all Albion could do was reply with a couple of Rodriguez shots on target.

Tomer Hemed scored in the 51st minute to lift Brighton over Newcastle United on Saturday as they earned their second straight home win.

Newcastle edged out Brighton to last season's Championship title on the final day, but the Seagulls took their revenge on their first Premier League clash. The hosts took the lead when Pascal Gross's free-kick was headed back across goal by defender Dale Stephens to Hemed, who blast a hooked volley in from six yards out. Solly March nearly doubled the advantage on 56 minutes but Newcastle goalkeeper was on hand to clear the midfielder's attempt off the goal-line. Chris Hughton's side would hold on to take all three points thanks to a handful of stops by goalkeeper Mat Ryan, including a first-half denial on Mikel Merino's volley. The result lifted the Seagull to 13th in the table, while Newcastle dropped to ninth.

Everton were forced into a defensive reshuffle and a slight change in formation after Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane were ruled out of the clash with Swansea City.

There was no report from Ronald Koeman prior to Saturdays game but news quickly spread that Keane would miss out in game week six after he was spotted arriving at Goodison Park on crutches. Fortunately, his injury is not thought to be too serious although the centre-back will miss the Europa League tie versus Apollon Limassol: "Maybe you remember the tackle of last Wednesday? His foot was a little bit open," revealed Koeman. "The doctor said he will maybe reach next Sunday but he will be doubtful for Thursday. I think he cannot start [in Europe] but maybe yes [against Burnley]." Jagielka on the other hand will not be risked ahead of the international break: "He has a slight hamstring problem and will be one week to 10 days out."

If at all possible, things just got a whole lot worse for Crystal Palace with the news that Christian Benteke could be set for an extended period on the sidelines.

The Eagles currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League boasting a record of six defeats from their opening 6 matches with zero goals in their FOR column and 13 against. And while Benteke may not have been pulling up trees this term, the Palace attacker represents their one and only experienced striker. With no return date insight for Connor Wickham [ACL knee injury], news that Benteke will require a scan after limping off at Manchester City will come as a hammer blow to Roy Hodgson who has been tasked with trying to save the top-flight status of his hometown club. Although the full extent of his knee injury is not yet known, Benteke has already been ruled out of next weekend’s trip to Old Trafford and Hodgson may be forced into handing Bakary Sako his first league start since April 2016.

Philippe Coutinho returned to the Liverpool starting line-up for a Premier League match for the first time this season and headlined a thrilling 3-2 win over Leicester City.

Coming off a mid-week loss to the same Foxes, Liverpool were looking for their summer want-away man to rebound with a big match. The Brazilian delivered with an assist on Mohamed Salah's opener and then a beautiful free kick from distance to make it 2-0. The Reds struggled to keep the lead conceding a goal to Shinji Okazaki before Jordan Henderson netted a 3rd for Jurgen Klopp's men. It was a nervous close as Jamie Vardy replied almost immediately and then had a penalty attempt to tie the score only to see Simon Mignolet save it to preserve the win. Breathless stuff at the King Power Stadium.

Jamie Vardy scored in the 69th minute but then failed to convert a penalty as Leicester City's bid to take points from Liverpool twice in a week fell just short on Saturday.

Jamie Vardy continued his impressive rebound season with another goal. Things looked like they'd get even better for the former non-league forward when he earned a penalty that could have tied the game. Vardy's penalty was far from his best effort and Simon Mignolet saved it to ensure that Liverpool would pick up all three points on the road. The Foxes had to come back from 2-0 down after Philippe Coutinho picked up a goal and an assist in the first half.

Huddersfield Town and Burnley played out a goalless draw at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Terriers were solid defensively in a match that saw both sides struggle in the final third. David Wagner's men limited the Clarets to just five shots (three on target) and goalkeeper Jonas Lossl earned his fourth clean sheet of the campaign. Considering Town were without top scorer Steve Mounie, who missed out with a heel injury, a share of the points was a decent yield. Huddersfield remain eighth in the table even on points with Burnley (9) but ahead on goal difference (+2).

Richarlison scored in the 90th minute as Watford earned a dramatic 2-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

The Hornets took the fight to the home side early and grabbed the lead after just 13 minutes when Andre Gray scored his first goal for the club. Marco Silva's side were unable to double the lead before the break, which proved costly, as Swansea half-time substitute Tammy Abraham scored the equalizer on 56 minutes after Wilfred Bony's initial shot was saved by Heurelho Gomes. But the visitors would save face thanks to Richarlison, who stole the ball from Roque Mesa and shimmed past Alfie Mawson to race clear and fire into the roof of the net. The dramatic win moves Watford up to 6th in the table, on 11 points, while Swansea, who remain 14th, have lost their first three home games of the season.

Sources from within Manchester United say the club will decide next week on whether Paul Pogba requires surgery to repair his damaged left hamstring.

Officially there has no definitive timeline announced and in response to growing media speculation of an extended period on the sidelines for the France international, Jose Mourinho had this to say: "Any comment, view or rumour is totally wrong, because we do not know if it is 12 weeks or 12 days." The United boss then went on to add [before the trip to Southampton]: "I have no idea [when he will be back]. So, I’m not going to cry or be counting the days, not at all." However, reports suggest that the club have been in touch with Finnish muscle repair specialist Sakari Orava with a decision set to be made about whether or not surgery is required. If the midfielder was to go under the knife, then Pogba could potentially be out of action for around three months.
