Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out for up to six months with a serious knee injury.

Another tough pill for Arsenal to swallow after an opening day nightmare at the Emirates. The young, talented English winger earned a start for Wenger's side and was a silver lining to an otherwise dismal outcome, providing the assist to their only goal. He looked to have been a nice budget out-of-position midfield option at just 6.6, but fantasy managers will need look elsewhere for now it would appear.

Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim has told Turkish sports magazine AMK Spor that a deal for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is "almost done".

The 31-year-old struggled with form and fitness throughout the 2015/16 campaign and has agreed in principle to leave Anfield after almost a decade for a deal rumoured to be worth around £5million. Skrtel will be joined by Paris Saint-Germain defender Gregory van der Wiel but former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie looks set to leave the club following a disappointing season in Süper Lig. Jürgen Klopp will now look to bolster his options in defence with Kolo Toure also leaving Anfield. Liverpool have emerged as the bookies favourites to land want-away Borussia Dortmund centre-back Neven Subotic. And the transfer business could continue, despite the arrival of Sadio Mane, with Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuaín reportedly rejecting a contract extension to put the Reds on high alert.

Marc Wilmots has confirmed that he expects Eden Hazard to be ready to face Wales on Friday despite picking up a thigh injury during the rout over Hungary.

Hazard deservedly took all the accolades for a scintillating performance in Toulouse last Sunday as Belgium swept the unfancied Hungarians aside with consummate ease. A dazzling solo effort on 79 minutes capped an excellent night for Hazard although there were concerns following his withdrawal just moments later. "Hazard felt a kind of thigh contraction at half-time against Hungary, that's why I replaced him in the second half," Wilmots said. However, the bad news for Wales is that the Chelsea star will be ready for the quarter-final clash this week: "I think he will be back in training on Thursday. He is in the care of the physios and is working with them. He is recovering well enough that he should be 100 per cent the day before the match."

Tim Krul’s time on Tyneside could be up after Newcastle confirmed the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Matz Sels from Gent.

Krul has been side-lined since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament while on international duty in October 2015, although he is said to be closing in on a return to full fitness. However, the arrival of Sels might signal the end for Krul after the 24-year-old was given assurances by Rafa Benitez that he would get a fair crack at claiming the No.1 jersey. The news will alert the likes of Everton and newly promoted Middlesbrough plus former manager Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace – linked heavily previously - and with only one-year remaining on his current deal, Newcastle look set to cash in on the Dutch international.

Southampton are set to join the race for Saido Berahino after selling Sadio Mane to Liverpool.

Berahino is reportedly on the market and Stoke City have been discussed as the top destination for the 22-year-old English player. Southampton will now join the sweepstakes and try to pry the youngster away. He would be a great addition to already signed Nathan Redmond and could play alongside Graziano Pelle.

Ronald Koeman has already started exploring the option of bringing Maarten Stekelenburg or Fraser Forster to Everton.

Koeman only has Joel Robles between the posts right now and it's his one of his top priorities to land a goalkeeper this summer. Fraser Forster would be an automatic starter at Everton, while Stekelenburg will likely be deployed as a backup. Koeman has the money to make both of them a reality, it's just going to come down to a matter of importance as to which position to wants to spend up at.

West Ham have made a €35m bid for Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.

Batshuayi is one of the more sought after strikers this summer and West Ham have the money now that they've moved to their new stadium. The new home comes with big expectations, and Batshuayi would be a perfect fit striker-hungry West Ham. Andy Carroll would likely be a second stringer if the move went through, while Diafra Sakho would likely leave.

The latest reports suggest Crystal Palace have triggered a release clause for Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend with the 24-year-old reportedly considering a move to Selhurst Park.

Townsend arrived at St. James’ Park in January for a fee believed to be in the region of £12million from Tottenham and was one of the few bright spots for a United side which dropped down to the second tier of English football. Scoring four times from 12 starts, Townsend created 26 chances and provided two assists – performances which almost earned him a place at Euro 2016. Earlier this month Townsend was said to have met with Rafa Benitez to discuss a new and improved deal, in return for the removal of his trigger clause, but his time Tyneside could now be coming to an end. The Guardian claim Palace are targeting up-to three players including Belgium and Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi after Marouane Chamakh and Emmanuel Adebayor were released.

Liverpool are expected to announce the signing of Senegalese star Sadio Mane today after agreeing a £30million move from managerless Southampton.

Following extended negotiations and the signing of Nathan Redmond from Norwich, Mane has been granted a move to Anfield in a deal which could ultimately be worth up-to £36million. Mane was pictured having his medical on Monday and becomes the third high profile departure from St Marys joining Victor Wanyama [Tottenham] and Ronald Koeman [Everton] as the south coast side once again proves itself to be a hive of summer transfer activity. Mane arrives off the back of another solid season [11-goals and six assists], if not, frustratingly inconsistent on occasions to become the fourth addition to the Liverpool squad. Mane is the fifth Southampton player to arrive on Merseyside within the past two-seasons following in the footsteps of Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert.

Ashley Williams is expected to be available to face Belgium in one of the biggest games in Wales national team history.

The Swansea City captain went down with a shoulder injury after colliding with Jonny Williams against Northern Ireland, but manager Chris Coleman said he expects the defender to be fit for the quarterfinals: "We think it was when he fell and landed on his hand with a straight arm which had an impact on his shoulder," Coleman said. "But he is okay. Ashley will be fine. It sounds better actually, that he would play with a dislocated shoulder - and he would if we let him. But it was not...'I would not say he was a worry or a doubt, but we know we have to look after him. I would be surprised if he does not make the game.''

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Iceland have continued their dream tournament with a 2-1 knockout stage win over England on Monday and will face France in the quarterfinals.

England won a 4th minute penalty through Raheem Sterling that Wayne Rooney put into the bottom right corner of the Iceland goalkeeper's net and it looked like the giants would slay the minnows without much trouble. From there the script flipped almost immediately as Iceland immediately came down the pitch after the restart and won a throw. From a long throw, they got a header into the box that was rocketed past Joe Hart by Ragnar Sigurdsson. A mere 12 minutes later Iceland took the lead on a shot from the top of the box by Kolbeinn Sigthorsson that Joe Hart got his left hand on but couldn't keep out of the net. From there it was a dire attempt by the Three Lions to come back that never looked likely to succeed. Another in a long line of failed international competitions for the English.

Italy may have entered Euro 2016 without much fanfare or backing from the pundits, but they are turning heads with each passing match, today completely outclassing two-time defending European champions Spain, 2-0.

Antonio Conte, who will be taking over at Chelsea this season, will have plenty of hype when he begins his career at Stamford Bridge, as he and the Italian side were tactically brilliant, frustrating a Spain side that normally excels at possession and passing. Emanuele Giaccherini, who has been fantastic in the Euro fantasy game, put up another fine score by grabbing a clean sheet and assisting the first goal, scored by Giorgio Cheillini after David de Gea spilled the initial free kick attempt. The second goal didn't come until added time, when Graziano Pelle struck one on the volley when Italy were on the counter-attack. Thought to be one of the weaker sides Italy have brought to a major tournament in quite some time, they prove again that they are masterful at tournament play.
