Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage said that "the biggest question on [Alabama redshirt junior QB] Cooper Bateman, above everything else, is does the Alabama coaching staff have a belief that he can hit passes beyond 20 yards?"

Speaking on Jox Radio's The Roundtable, Savage said, "The short to intermediate stuff he seems to be pretty good at. Anything beyond 25 yards though, the ball seems to come apart on him for whatever reason." The former Browns GM indicated that he hasn't worked with Bateman enough to be able to pinpoint the technical issue. While HC Nick Saban gave the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder a tiny edge in the competition with David Cornwell, Jalen Hurts and Blake Barnett out of the spring, any legitimate issues with throwing the deep ball could prove a hurdle to winning the starting job, particularly given that Alabama will field a loaded receiving corp entering the 2016 season.

Alabama freshman ILB Mack Wilson tweeted that he will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

On Monday, Wilson tweeted, "Torn meniscus. Pray I have a speedy recovery." He later deleted that tweet, writing more generally, "I’ll be back don’t sleep on me #SpeedyRecovery." It is not yet clear when Wilson might be ready to return to football activities. Not the best of starts for the 6-foot-2, 236-pounder's collegiate career. He also underwent shoulder surgery in May to repair a torn labrum that had been sustained as a sophomore in high school. He ranked as the No. 34 overall prospect on the ESPN 300 for the 2016 cycle.

Hawaii dismissed junior DT Kennedy Tulimasealii for a violation of the athletic department's code of conduct.

Hawaii's code of conduct states that "any student-athlete convicted of or pleading guilty or no contest to a felony charge shall be permanently dismissed from the team." Last month, Tulimasealii pleaded no contest to six criminal charges stemming from an April arrest, with one felony accusation for property damage included in that lot. In a statement, AD David Matlin said, "He will always be a part of the Rainbow Warrior ʻohana and we hope that his recent troubles do not define his life." This is a legitimate blow to Hawaii's defense. Last season, the 6-foot-1, 285-pounder recorded 63 tackles (18.5 for loss), three sacks and eight quarterback hurries.

Four-star 2017 QB Kellen Mond committed to Texas A&M.

Mond stood as a Baylor commit just a month ago, but following the move to terminate HC Art Briles at the end of May, he stepped back from his pledge to survey his options. The 6-foot-3, 199-pound gunslinger subsequently forged a fresh top-three of Ohio State, Auburn and Texas A&M. While the Buckeyes and Tigers held the early lead in the race, Mond's unofficial visit to Texas A&M on June 11 provided the Aggies the necessary rocket boost to land the dual-threat prospect. Assuming this sticks through National Signing Day, it will mark the fourth consecutive year that Texas A&M has signed a four-star quarterback. Two of those are no longer with the team. Kyle Allen (2014 class) and Kyler Murray (2015 class) both transferred in December. Mond ranks as Rivals' No. 101 prospect for the 2017 cycle.

Former Baylor WR Robbie Rhodes has been dismissed from Bowling Green.

The dreaded "violation of team rules" strikes again. Rhodes played in seven games last season and caught three passes for 130 yards, including one touchdown. He was dismissed from Baylor for "undisclosed reasons" in 2014 following an arrest for marijuana possession. It was reported he failed a second drug test. Some speculated Rhodes could fill in as a vertical threat with Roger Lewis off to the NFL.

Notre Dame freshman OL Parker Boudreaux was admitted to the hospital with an unknown condition on Sunday.

Football spokesman Michael Bertsch told The Elkhart Truth that Boudreaux was in stable condition and resting on Sunday night. Because of student-privacy laws, no further information is available at this time as to the exact nature of his ailment. The 6-foot-4, 265-pounder tweeted out from his hospital room, writing, "Thank y'all so much for all of the prayers. I really do appreciate it. Gotta stay in the hospital for at least 2-3 more days. Not feeling that well."

Four-star 2017 Tyshon Fogg committed to Rutgers.

"It was very important to play at home in New Jersey," Fogg said. "My family can come to all my games. They live 40 minutes away. That was really important to me. That’s my home team." The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder originally hails from Asbury Park and currently lives in Towson, Maryland. He already feels a connection with DC Jay Niemann, who gave him an idea of how he might fit in on the Scarlet Knight defense. "They might be looking me at the MIKE [middle linebacker] or they could put me outside. Coach Niemann said it depends on how my body develops when I get there," he relayed. Rivals ranks Fogg as their No. 20 outside linebacking prospect for the 2017 cycle.

Four-star 2017 WR Jhamon Ausbon committed to LSU.

In what turned out to be a nice weekend for the Tigers on the recruiting front, four-star WR Mannie Netherly committed to the LSU cause on Friday, with Ausbon following suit on Saturday. For his part, the 6-foot-4, 214-pound Ausbon ranks as Rivals' No. 116 prospect for the 2017 cycle. On the ESPN 300, he ranks similarly, checking into their master list at No. 139. The Worldwide Leader's scouting department noted that he is "blessed with a skill-set that is coveted by competitive Power 5 programs." Ausbon initially committed to Baylor in July of 2015, but decommitted from the Bears this March, getting a head-start on that trend two months before Art Briles' firing.

Former FSU QB Everett Golson signed with the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

After going undrafted, Golson will commence his professional career up north. He took several shots at the NFL as a UDFA, participating in post-draft rookie mini-camps with the Colts and Eagles. Both teams passed on him. Now onward to Canada and the Ticats. The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder finished his college career having thrown for 7,628 yards (61.2% completions) with a 52/23 TD/INT ratio between Notre Dame and (after a transfer) FSU.

In a column he penned for Sports Illustrated's Campus Rush, South Carolina HC Will Muschamp admitted that his offense at Florida failed to meet expectations.

"We did a lot of good things at Florida, had good kids in the locker room," Muschamp noted. "We played strong defense and special teams. We simply had an issue on offense and that comes back on me." He went on to write that one of the secret side benefits of taking the Auburn defensive coordinator gig for 2015 was that it allowed him to watch HC Gus Malzahn's offensive mind at work. Muschamp called him a "heck of an offensive coach" and wrote that "to see the tempo of his scheme was an important experience." Since joining the Gamecocks, he has "[tried] to spend as much time with the offense as [he] can." South Carolina is looking to rebound from a lost 3-9 season.

Auburn and Penn State are scheduled for a home-and-home series in 2021 and 2022.

Penn State will host the Tigers on September 18, 2021, with Auburn returning the favor on September 17, 2022. This will be the first time that Auburn has ever played a Big Ten opponent during the regular season. Tigers AD Jay Jacobs said, "This is another great opportunity for our players and fans to be part of something special. Bringing together elite programs rich in tradition is what college football is all about."

Penn State head coach James Franklin believes "all the things are in place for us to make a significant jump offensively" this season.

This statement is delivered on the heels of Christian Hackenberg departing for the NFL. Offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead is in his first year with the team, so there is likely optimism he can work with a young star in running back Saquon Barkley, and elevate the other talents at other positions. Trace McSorley is the odds on favorite to be the school's starting quarterback, but is in a competition with Tommy Stevens.
