Penn State junior LB Khairi Fortt has decided to transfer to Cal after visiting the school this past weekend, according to Rivals' Ryan Gorcey.

Fortt's father had previously said that the projected starting inside linebacker had around 12 offers, but Cal appeared to be his first visit. The Golden Bears are attempting to reload on defense talent, specifically at the linebacker position after losing second-round pick Mychal Kendricks to the NFL. Fortt has a great chance to contribute immediately. Fortt's family insists that a decision has yet to be made.

Michigan State coaches are calling senior LB Ed Davis one of the best players at the position in recent program history.

Josh Norris recently vined a play against Nebraska, where Davis met an offensive guard one yard beyond the line of scrimmage, then pushed the lineman four yards back. Needless to say, the Ameer Abdullah run was completely blown up. Davis did not receive a tackle for loss on the play, but as we always say "disruption is production." Davis is very good when moving forward against the run, and we will pay attention to how he is in coverage.

The court case involving Ole Miss junior T Laremy Tunsil and his stepfather has officially been dismissed.

The two reached an agreement over the weekend. Ole Miss has stood behind Tunsil this entire time, so expect Tunsil to not miss any meaningful action when practice gets going. The NCAA is reportedly interviewing (or already has) Tunsil's stepfather based on his claims of agent contact.

Texas HC Charlie Strong suggested senior RB Johnathan Gray could see close to 30 carries per game.

"We have backups, but we'd like to see J. Gray go out and just have a big year," Strong told reporters. The biggest issue will be for Gray to stay healthy. A torn achilles derailed his promising sophomore season, and many athletes say it takes a full year to recover from that kind of surgery. In three seasons, Gray has averaged 4.65 yards per carry with 15 total touchdowns.

Former Clemson graduate ILB Kellen Jones transferred to Wisconsin.

Jones, who received his economics degree from Clemson and is eligible to play immediately, recorded 29 tackles across 13 games last year. He's expected to compete with Leon Jacobs and T.J. Edwards for a starting ILB spot, where the Badgers have no returning starters. Jones began his career at Michigan, transferred to Oklahoma before playing a down, and then followed defensive coordinator Brent Venables to Clemson.

Former Detroit Lions president Matt Millen predicted that Penn State junior QB Christian Hackenberg will apply for early entry into the NFL draft in 2016 and go in the top five.

"This is going to be his last year, too," Millen said. "I don't see him staying four years. He is really talented. ... He's a top-five pick." The 6-foot-4, 236-pound Hackenberg had a horrid 12/15 TD/INT ratio in 2014 and also fumbled nine times. Most experts blame those struggles on other factors, such as a new coaching staff and a terrible offensive line; Hackenberg was sacked an amazing 44 times. As we've said before, Hackenberg is out of excuses this fall. We reserve judgement until then.

Florida redshirt freshman QB Will Grier has gained a significant amount of weight and now stands at 215 lbs.

Grier was listed at 195 lbs during his recruitment and then at 200 lbs last season. The gators open practice on Thursday, and Grier seems to be the frontrunner for the No. 1 job. He fits what new head coach Jim McElwain has previously used at the position, although McElwain also considers mobility a positive. The biggest question for the Gators will be their offensive line.

Ohio State junior RB Ezekiel Elliott forced 41 missed tackles in 2014, according to Pro Football Focus.

On the season, Elliott rushed for 1,878 yards and 18 touchdowns on 273 carries. Elliott really didn't get it going until the fourth game against Cincinnati, so it is absolutely possible he puts up better production this season. Josh Norris recently looked at a large number of Big 10 prospects and was amazed by Elliott's skills. He creates so many yards for himself and maximizes his blocking by reading positioning and strengths.

UCLA head coach Jim Mora was not ready to name a starting quarterback at Pac-12 media days, but he said he doesn't anticipate using multiple quarterbacks.

"I’d rather use one. I think that is the most beneficial way to build your team and consistency is to use one," Mora said. "But we’ll see. My gut instinct is to name a guy and support the hell out of him. That’s what I’ve tried to do." With Brett Hundley off to the NFL and Asiantii Woulard having transferred, the QB race is down to Jerry Neuheisel, Mike Fafaul and freshman phenom Josh Rosen. Most fans want Rosen inserted as starter on Day 1, but Mora is not yet ready to do so. "He hasn’t taken a snap at this level. So I don’t want to put too many expectations," Mora said. "I’ll let others put expectations on them. I think if Josh reaches his potential every day at the end of his time at UCLA we’ll look back and say he was a success."

Michigan State redshirt junior edge player Shilique Calhoun is "overrated" and a certainty to get over-drafted, postulates TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.

Shockingly, the analyst grades Calhoun, who some see as a first-round lock, as a third-rounder. "Many salivate over Calhoun but I just don’t know where he lines up at the next level," Pauline wrote. "He’s small for defensive end and lacks the speed for outside linebacker. Calhoun will be over drafted due to his pass rushing skills." The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Calhoun, a two-time first-team All-Big Ten pick, reportedly received a Round 2 grade from the advisory committee after last season.

Ole Miss junior T Laremy Tunsil and his stepfather have each agreed not to pursue legal action against one another.

The Clarion-Ledger reports that both parties' domestic violence charges will be formally dropped on Monday. Reportedly, Tunsil’s stepfather, Lindsey Miller, got into an altercation with Tunsil's mother, ending when Tunsil punched him. Miller's version of the story is that the argument arose over Tunsil’s connection to sports agents. The NCAA is investigating the situation, but Tunsil will avoid legal problems. Tunsil is a top-10 overall prospect.

Oregon sophomore RB Royce Freeman has dropped 8 lbs and now weighs 222 lbs.

We always hear about skill position players gaining weight, so it is refreshing to hear about running backs losing weight. We don't have numbers to back it up, but it appears to help careers more than adding mass. Freeman was one of the best running backs in the country last season in just his first year, and could be the focus of Oregon's offensive gameplan this year.
