Georgia beat writer Seth Emerson believes senior S Bacarri Rambo has returned to last year's form.

Rambo missed the first four games of the season due to a suspension and struggled upon his return. Last year, Rambo earned plenty of national honors after finishing with eight interceptions, but we felt those statistics and titles outshone his actual skills. Still, we would feel comfortable with a team using a third- or fourth-round selection on Rambo.

CBS Sports' Jeremy Fowler talked to multiple NCAA coaches who fully expect former Houston senior RB Charles Sims to enter the Supplemental Draft.

Fowler likely spoke to coaches who have interest in Sims' services, since the running back would be eligible to play immediately in 2013. His departure from Houston was surprising, since he could have elected to enter April's NFL Draft. The Supplemental Draft will take place on July 11, if there are eligible players entering.

Scouts Inc.'s Kevin Weidl says evaluators should familiarize themselves with Southern Miss senior DT Khyri Thornton.

Weidl tweeted Thornton has "impressive tape," specifically highlighting the defensive tackle's quickness, range, and explosive upper body. Thornton accounted for 36 tackles in 2012, 9.5 for loss including one sack.

Sophomore QB Wes Lunt revealed that Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy lifted transfer restrictions prior to Lunt choosing Illinois.

Gundy made news when he restricted Lunt from transferring to Big 12 and SEC schools, along with Southern Miss, the Pac-12 and Central Michigan. Apparently Gundy lifted those limitations, which included 37 schools and three of Lunt's initial top five, but the sophomore quarterback had already lost contact with the coaches of those schools.

South Carolina junior Jadeveon Clowney has been tagged with the highest grade ever given to a DL from NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah.

Jeremiah previously stated he would choose UCLA senior Anthony Barr over any edge rusher selected in the 2013 draft, but admitted Clowney "is on another planet." We are guessing Clowney earned a "rare" grade, and many other evaluators will give the same designation. Calvin Johnson, Ndamukong Suh, and Andrew Luck are three recent prospects to earn the same designation by some scouts.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah tweeted he would rather have UCLA senior OLB Anthony Barr over any edge rusher selected in the 2013 class.

This includes No. 3 pick Dion Jordan, No. 5 pick Ziggy Ansah, and No. 6 pick Barkevious Mingo. Barr is an outstanding athlete with excellent closing speed, which makes him very effective when looping inside. He is still learning some technical aspects of the pass rushing game, like hand use and length, but Barr's ceiling is incredibly high.

Kansas head coach Charlie Weis has dismissed JUCO transfer DE Chris Martin after he was arrested in connection to an armed robbery.

This means Martin has enrolled and left three FBS programs in the last three years. First, he signed with Cal out of high school but departed to Florida only five months later. That stint ended after an arrest for marijuana, so Martin spent two seasons at the JUCO level. He never played a snap for Kansas.

One NFL GM told CBS Sports' Mike Freeman that Texas A&M redshirt sophomore QB Johnny Manziel will be just as good, or better, than Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck, and Russell Wilson.

Another GM added, "He could end up being a more accurate passer than any of those three." The opinions and evaluations on Manziel will vary considerably, and it showed when Freeman interviewed an anonymous NFL scout who stated Manziel "has Canada written all over him." We can all agree, however, that it is nice to have another year to evaluate the Heisman Trophy winner.

Former Oklahoma State sophomore QB Wes Lunt has decided to transfer to Illinois.

Illinois has been the favorite all along, since Lunt is from the state and former Illini transfer quarterback Jeff George spoke with the sophomore sometime in the last few weeks. The school won two of their first three games in 2012 but posted losses for the remainder of the season. Senior Nathan Scheelhaase will likely keep the starting job this year, which works for Lunt since he will have to take a redshirt. Expect to hear the former Cowboy's name leading up to the 2014 season. Lunt chose Illinois over Louisville.

College Football insider Phil Steele believes Georgia has the top backfield in the country.

The ranking makes a lot of sense after Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall combined for 2,144 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns as true freshmen last season. "Neither player was even around for spring last year," Steele notes. "Both backs are big, at 215-plus pounds, and both possess power and speed. Gurley made my preseason All-American second team."

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler considers Florida State junior James Wilder the top RB prospect heading into the 2013 season.

Brugler previously noted his appreciation for Wilder, saying he wins with power, speed, and "tremendous balance and body control to break tackles." We have already seen comparisons to Chris Ivory, and Wilder will likely be relied upon more often in 2013 thanks to the departure of E.J. Manuel.

Florida sophomore LB Antonio Morrison was arrested early Sunday morning on a simple battery charge.

The charge is only a misdemeanor, but it is the first off-field incident involving a Florida player in quite some time. Morrison reportedly became angry after being asked to leave a club and said, "Don't you know who I am? I'm a football player. I'm Antonio." He allegedly followed that question up by punching the bouncer in the head. Morrison is expected to secure a starting spot this season.
