Tennessee junior WR Cordarrelle Patterson caught nine passes for 219 yards and a touchdown Saturday against Troy.

Patterson added two carries for 13 yards. The junior's touchdown catch came on an inside route where Patterson used his size to out physical the defensive back at the catch point. He is still learning how to be multiple types of coverage, but Patterson has big time ability.

One NFL GM told CBS Sports' Mike Freeman that Texas A&M redshirt sophomore QB Johnny Manziel will be just as good, or better, than Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck, and Russell Wilson.

Another GM added, "He could end up being a more accurate passer than any of those three." The opinions and evaluations on Manziel will vary considerably, and it showed when Freeman interviewed an anonymous NFL scout who stated Manziel "has Canada written all over him." We can all agree, however, that it is nice to have another year to evaluate the Heisman Trophy winner.

Former Oklahoma State sophomore QB Wes Lunt has decided to transfer to Illinois.

Illinois has been the favorite all along, since Lunt is from the state and former Illini transfer quarterback Jeff George spoke with the sophomore sometime in the last few weeks. The school won two of their first three games in 2012 but posted losses for the remainder of the season. Senior Nathan Scheelhaase will likely keep the starting job this year, which works for Lunt since he will have to take a redshirt. Expect to hear the former Cowboy's name leading up to the 2014 season. Lunt chose Illinois over Louisville.

College Football insider Phil Steele believes Georgia has the top backfield in the country.

The ranking makes a lot of sense after Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall combined for 2,144 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns as true freshmen last season. "Neither player was even around for spring last year," Steele notes. "Both backs are big, at 215-plus pounds, and both possess power and speed. Gurley made my preseason All-American second team."

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler considers Florida State junior James Wilder the top RB prospect heading into the 2013 season.

Brugler previously noted his appreciation for Wilder, saying he wins with power, speed, and "tremendous balance and body control to break tackles." We have already seen comparisons to Chris Ivory, and Wilder will likely be relied upon more often in 2013 thanks to the departure of E.J. Manuel.

Florida sophomore LB Antonio Morrison was arrested early Sunday morning on a simple battery charge.

The charge is only a misdemeanor, but it is the first off-field incident involving a Florida player in quite some time. Morrison reportedly became angry after being asked to leave a club and said, "Don't you know who I am? I'm a football player. I'm Antonio." He allegedly followed that question up by punching the bouncer in the head. Morrison is expected to secure a starting spot this season.

Texas A&M redshirt sophomore QB Johnny Manziel hinted on Twitter early Sunday that he plans to leave College Station after this season.

The 2012 Heisman winner has three seasons of NCAA eligibility remaining, but can enter the draft as soon as 2014. "I can't want to leave College Station," tweeted Manziel, before deleting the tweet. Manziel later expressed his "love" for Texas A&M, but told his Twitter followers to "walk a day in my shoes." Opinions about Manziel's NFL projection are already all over the map. NFL Network draft analyst and former veteran NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah recently likened Johnny Football's game to Jeff Garcia's.

UNC senior Bryn Renner ranks as NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah's No. 5 draft-eligible QB.

Renner is the second ranked senior on the list behind Clemson's Tajh Boyd, who checks in at No. 2. "Renner has been impressive on tape," Jeremiah tweeted. "He's very quick through his progressions and he has "plus" timing, touch and ball placement." Despite playing in an up-tempo offense, Renner frequently works through his progressions, which can be a unique quality in college passers.

After stating their intentions to add a veteran presence at the position, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke acknowledged the school is unlikely to bring in a graduate QB prior to the 2013 season.

"I think we’re pretty set with what we have," Hoke said Friday. "I believe in the guys we have in the program." Obviously junior Devin Gardner will be the starter, but backup Russell Bellomy suffered a likely season ending injury a few weeks ago. The only other scholarship quarterback on the roster is true freshman Shane Morris.

All charges against Arizona junior RB Ka'Deem Carey, which stemmed from a domestic violence incident, have been dropped.

The nation's leading rusher was charged with misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct in December after an incident with his pregnant girlfriend. He likely wouldn't have missed game time this season anyways, since Carey fully participated in spring practice.

Former LSU redshirt sophomore CB David Jenkins has been dismissed from TCU after two warrants were issued for his arrest on suspicion of burglary of a habitation.

Jenkins transferred from LSU after sitting out his lone season at the school, and was forced to redshirt at TCU in 2012 due to NCAA rules. After multiple members of the football program contributed to offseason issues in the last few years, TCU head coach Gary Patterson seems to be leaning towards a zero tolerance policy.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt ranks Michigan State's Darqueze Dennard as the No. 2 senior CB heading into the 2013 season.

Brandt predictably ranks TCU's Jason Verrett as the top senior corner, and we would agree. Dennard is followed by Oklahoma State's Justin Gilbert, Oklahoma's Aaron Colvin, and Notre Dame's Bennett Jackson.
