Missouri junior DT Sheldon Richardson will play Saturday against Texas A&M after missing last weekend's game due to a suspension for a violation of team rules.

It had been speculated that the suspension was for academic reasons, and that would only make Richardson's NFL decision easier. Sources close to the program told ESPN that Richardson was suspended for "missing a class multiple times and refusing to complete the punishment given to him for missing the class." He has easily been the best player on Missouri's defense.

Ole Miss sophomore QB Shea Patterson announced on Twitter that he will transfer to Michigan.

Jim Harbaugh must have pulled out all the stops during Patterson's weekend visit to Ann Arbor, because Patterson has ended his abrupt re-recruitment, well, abruptly. Patterson (6'2/203), a former five-star prospect and the No. 1-ranked QB in the class of 2016, is on the move following sanctions the NCAA recently handed down to Ole Miss due to a series of infractions. Those sanctions came with a 2018 bowl ban, which permitted Rebel seniors to transfer without sitting out a year. Patterson isn't a senior, but he and other Rebel non-seniors figure to argue to the NCAA that they were misled about the severity of potential penalties facing the program by former HC Hugh Freeze during recruitment. If Patterson's eligibility waiver is granted by the NCAA, his move is a potential 2018 sea changer. If the waiver is denied, Patterson will sit out in 2018 (he'd be a redshirt junior in 2019) and redshirt freshman Brandon Peters and true freshman Dylan McCaffrey will vie for the starting job.

Iowa redshirt junior S Brandon Snyder was arrested on drunken driving charges.

Pulled over Kinnick Stadium early Sunday morning, Snyder told police he had been drinking. He failed a breathalyzer test. It's been a rough year for Iowa's 2016 starting free safety. He tore his left ACL in spring practice in April only to make a remarkably-fast return on October 7 against Illinois. Too fast, it turned out, as Snyder re-tore the ACL (but not before he had a pick-six in the game). "While we are currently gathering additional facts, we are very disappointed to learn of Brandon's involvement," HC Kirk Ferentz said in the statement. "Brandon is subject to the rules and regulations of the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, and the rules and regulations of our football program."

Pitt junior S Jordan Whitehead announced his intention to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

Whitehead moved around at the safety spot over the last three seasons, and some might even view him as a corner. Still just 20 years old, Whitehead broke out as a true freshman in 2015 and followed it up in 2016 with another strong season. 2017 included a few hiccups, but Whitehead likely draws a positive evaluation over the next few months. He was suspended for three games this season, and more details on that incident likely will surface.

TCU staffer Sonny Dykes will likely be named SMU's next head coach, according to multiple reports.

Dykes is likely most known for his time with Cal from 2013-2016, ending his career with highly productive seasons with Jared Goff. Offense has never been an issue under Dykes, as he converted a style of the Air Raid into a scheme known as the Bear Raid. Defense, however, is a totally different story, and Dykes would be wise to add an equal to coach that side of the ball.

Kentucky received a verbal commitment from three-star 2018 JUCO QB Terry Wilson.

Wilson (6'3/187) was originally a member of Oregon's 2016 recruiting class but transferred to the JUCO ranks in May. He checks into the 247Sports Composite as the No. 3 dual-threat junior college gunslinger in the 2018 class. He pledged himself to the Wildcats cause after taking an official visit to UK on Friday. This is a much-needed get for HC Mark Stoops, as Kentucky just lost four-star QB Jarren Williams to Miami.

Wisconsin senior TE Troy Fumagalli will play in the Orange Bowl against Miami on Dec. 30.

Fumagalli (6'6/248) was asked if he planned on sitting out the bowl to protect his health for the draft, but he shot that down in no uncertain terms, saying, "I can't imagine myself doing that." Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline grades him as a fourth-round prospect for the draft, but the positional class isn't as deep as last year's monster tight end assortment, which could potentially push him up the board into Day 2 simply due to scarcity.

Washington State dismissed junior WR Tavares Martin.

All we know at this juncture is that Martin is being dismissed due to a violation of team rules. This doesn't comes as a complete shock. Back in mid-October, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior was suspended for a game against Colorado for reasons unknown. He was Wazzu's leading receiver this season, logging a 70-831-11 receiving line. Washington State could well be out both their top wideouts from the season in the coming weeks, as Isaiah Johnson-Mack is currently seeking a transfer. He tweeted last weekend that HC Mike Leach had yet to grant his release, though, so at least on that front, we'll have to wait and see. The Cougars take on Michigan State in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28.
Dec 10 - 2:35 PM

ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Saturday that he "guarantee[s]" that Oklahoma senior QB Baker Mayfield will be a first-round pick in the draft.

"And I will bet you he goes higher than people think," Schefter said on the Worldwide Leader. Mayfield is currently the toast of the town, having just won the Heisman Trophy on the strength of 4,340 passing yards and a 41/5 TD/INT ratio. He's drawn some comps to washed out QB Johnny Manziel for his occasionally improvisational style of play, though an anonymous NFC scout told NFL.com earlier this month that "Baker sees the field" and does not have nearly the same tendencies for ill-advised gonna-try-to-do-it-all throws.

Minnesota received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 G Curtis Dunlap Jr.

Dunlap (6'5/362) had been committed to Florida since July before he reopened his recruitment earlier this month. ESPN's Craig Haubert compares him to Michigan OL Cesar Ruiz, noting similarities between their competitive fires and drives. The Worldwide Leader ranks Dunlap as the No. 123 overall prospect in the 2018 cycle. Gophs HC P.J. Fleck made plenty of recruiting noise this weekend, not only snagging Dunlap, but also fellow four-star OL Daniel Faalele plus preferred walk-on QB Zack Annexstad.

Minnesota received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 T Daniel Faalele.

Faalele (6'9/394) has quite the story to the name. A native of Australia, he hit the national scene after a Hawaii recruiter stumbled upon him in a gym. At the time, he had not played a down of football. Faalele enrolled at football factory IMG Academy in August and has drawn offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and LSU. The big tackle gives Minnesota a quartet of four-star recruits at this juncture. Should they hang on to all of them, it would be the first time they've reeled in that many high-profile recruits since ESPN began their rankings in 2006. The outlet refers to him as "one of the most intriguing prospects in this [cycle]."

Washington received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 G Sam Taimani.

Taimani (6'2/315) made his pledge following an unofficial visit to the Huskies over the weekend. Not only did he take the plunge with Washington, he also told 247Sports that he will now completely shut down his recruitment. That's a bummer for Notre Dame, Utah and Oregon, who were all chasing after the Salt Lake City native. He plans on inking up with Washington on Dec. 20, taking advantage of the new early winter signing period for recruits. While we most often hear the term "athlete" tossed around for receivers who also excel at corner and the like, Taimani would fit that bill well enough -- he has upside as either a guard or a defensive tackle.
