ESPN's College Gameday announced that Ohio State senior DE John Simon will miss Saturday's game with a bursa sac injury in his knee.

Simon wouldn't be sidelined with something small, as he is one of the hardest workers on and off the field in the country. This would end the senior's collegiate career, and we hope he is healthy enough to participate in the pre-draft process.

Washington State suspended junior WR Tavares Martin for Saturday's game against Colorado due to a violation of team rules.

This straight from HC Mike Leach to The Spokesman-Review's Theo Lawson. Just what Martin did to find himself in Leach's doghouse is not currently known. Martin is working to a 37-502-7 receiving line in seven games this season. He's been held under 40 yards receiving in each of the past two contests, but remains a big part of Wazzu's attack. CJ Dimry could see additional work against the Buffs on Saturday with Martin in the timeout corner.

Kansas State HC Bill Snyder said that he is hopeful that redshirt junior QB Jesse Ertz (knee) will be able to play against Oklahoma on Saturday.

Ertz was initially reported as likely to miss 4-6 weeks due to a knee injury suffered against Texas earlier this month. He sat versus TCU on Saturday, with Alex Delton drawing the start in his place, but it's looking like the knee injury might not have been quite as serious as initially believed. Snyder indicated that he will probably be a game-time decision for Saturday. We'll continue to update Ertz's health as information becomes available. If he can't play against the Sooners this coming weekend, Delton would start once more.

Irish Illustrated is reporting that Notre Dame senior LB Greer Martini suffered a meniscus injury during practice last week and could miss a month.

A starter and a senior captain, Martini reportedly suffered a rare bye week injury. It couldn't have come at a worse time, as Sam Darnold, Ronald Jones and USC is coming to town on Saturday. Martini ranks third on the team with 39 tackles and leads the Irish with two forced fumbles. If Martini is indeed shelved, junior Te’von Coney is expected to take his place in the starting lineup.

Iowa senior LB Josey Jewell (shoulder) says he'll be ready for Saturday's game against Northwestern.

Asked about the shoulder injury on Tuesday, Jewell said: "It’s good. Everything’s good. Playing on Saturday is going to be awesome." The middle linebacker was injured 10 days ago against Illinois. The Hawkeyes were on bye last week. Jewell is one of the best defensive players in the nation. He's vital to everything Iowa does on defense.

Auburn dismissed sophomore WR Kyle Davis for an unspecified rules violation.

Davis didn’t practice last week and he also didn't travel with the team to Saturday's loss at LSU. He was previously suspended for the season opener against Georgia Southern. In between those two games, Davis posted seven receptions for 210 yards. Last year, as a true freshman, he had 12 catches for 248 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 224-pounder was a top-100 overall recruit and a top-10 receiver recruit in the 2016 cycle. He came to Auburn with considerable hype, but Davis spent much of his truncated Tigers' career in Gus Malzahn's doghouse.

Hawaii redshirt sophomore WR John Ursua will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.

Ursua suffered the injury in Saturday's game against San Jose State. His loss is a devastating blow to the Rainbow Warriors. The 5-foot-10, 165-pounder, a mid-season Biletnikoff award watch lister, had 667 receiving yards and ranked No. 6 nationally with 111.2 receiving yards per game. According to Athlon's Mike Bainbridge, Dylan Collie, Ammon Barker and Keelan Ewaliko will see increased targets in Ursua's absence. Hawaii is on bye this week. They get San Diego State next weekend.

Utah sophomore QB Tyler Huntley (shoulder) is listed as the starter for this week's game against Arizona State.

It's a strong early-week indication that Huntley will return from injury. He's been out since suffering a shoulder injury in a win over Arizona on September 22. Troy Williams will return to backup duties if Huntley is indeed back.

Notre Dame HC Brian Kelly deemed redshirt sophomore QB Brandon Wimbush (foot) 100-percent for this weekend's game against USC.

Wimbush (6'1/228) injured his foot in last month's victory over Miami (OH). "There are no questions about his health," Kelly said, "he's 100-percent." Wimbush missed the UNC game two weeks ago with his foot injury. Luckily, the Irish were on bye last week, giving him an extra week to heal in advance of the marquee tilt with the Trojans.

Kansas State HC Bill Snyder told reporters that redshirt junior QB Jesse Ertz (knee) will be able to return this season.

Snyder said he just doesn't know when. When the news of Ertz's knee injury broke last week, he was given a 4-6 week timeline. That would set his tentative return between the Nov. 4 game against Texas Tech and the Nov. 18 game against Oklahoma State. The good news is that KSU should have Ertz back for at least the last two games of the regular season, barring a setback.

USC QB Sam Darnold was voted as the top QB prospect by eight NFL evaluators polled by SI's Albert Breer.

Breer makes an interesting note that teams are seemingly giving Darnold a pass on his interceptions due to offensive line play and "trying to do too much," like Jameis Winston during his final season. The issue here is that Winston continues to show that same erratic style and a lack of accuracy. Darnold received four place votes, with Josh Rosen receiving three first place votes and Josh Allen one. Be sure to click the link for Breer's full report.

Arizona sophomore QB Kahlil Tate is now the school's unquestioned starter ahead of Saturday's game against Cal.

It is fair to wonder why Tate was not the starter since day one, but it took until October for him to see the field. In the last two games alone Tate has rushed for 557 yards and six touchdowns, adding passing stats on top of that. Arizona's offense is one of the scariest in the country with Tate in charge.
