Nebraska senior RB Rex Burkhead said that there was no swelling around his injured MCL after carrying the football 16 times for 69 yards against Iowa.

This is a great sign for the senior who has missed the majority of his final collegiate season. All signs point to Burkhead finishing the year with a clean bill of health, and that likely means we will see him at a postseason all star game.

One NFC Scouting Director told NFL.com's Lance Zierlein that Texas RB D'Onta Foreman's pass protection skills are "awful."

"Our coaches won't put him out there if they think he'll get the quarterback killed," the NFL personnel man said. There will be some disagreement with this statement, as Pro Football Focus charted Foreman with zero sacks in pass protection at some point this season. The truth is somewhere in the middle, and Texas' offensive style plays a big part. Many pass were off play action and were quick throws, either outside breaking routes versus off coverage or downfield shots. Foreman's pass pro reps do not tranlsate easily to many NFL offensee.

Miami received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 RB Camron Davis.

Davis was committed to Oregon State over the summer, but reopened his recruitment at the end of October. Miami is currently crushing the 2018 cycle. Davis (No. 176 overall on Rivals) isn't even their highest ranking running back commitment to date -- that would be Lorenzo Lingard (No. 16 overall on Rivals). Scout.com's analysis team notes that the 5-foot-9, 187-pound Davis "runs a little upright for a back his size and he shows a little stiffness, but he is a strong runner with a burst and vision."

247Sports' Ryan Bartow reports that 32 teams have contacted transferring Clemson graduate DT Scott Pagano.

Well that didn't take long. News of Pagano's transfer intentions broke on Friday. Almost immediately, a veritable wave of programs contacted him in the hopes to lure him over. Among the teams name-checked by Bartow, LSU, Washington, North Carolina, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Georgia (among many, many others). Bartow passes along that Pagano plans on making a few visits before he decides on his final collegiate home. This past season, the 6-foot-3, 295-pounder registered 31 tackles (4.5 for loss) and two sacks in 12 games played. He started four of those contests.

Chattanooga AD David Blackburn indicated that he is interested in the vacant athletic directorship at Tennessee.

Speaking on radio station WNML FM 99.1, Blackburn said, "It would mean the world to me to be able to lead the institution that led me, by all the people that allowed me the opportunity to do what I do." With the installation of new chancellor Beverly Davenport at Tennessee, their AD search figures to heat up in the very near future. In mid-January, ESPN's Chris Low reported that former Vols HC Phillip Fulmer was a prime candidate for the position. Unlike Blackburn -- who has served as Chattanooga athletic director since April of 2013 -- Fulmer has no prior experience as an athletic director.

Colorado has hired a pair of the lawyers from Pepper Hamilton to investigate the assault allegations against former secondary coach Joe Tumpkin.

Pepper Hamilton crashed into the headlines early last summer, when the law firm was brought in to provide an investigation of Baylor's sexual assault scandal. In this particular case with Colorado, lawyers Leslie Gomez and Gina Maisto Smith are looking into whether HC Mike MacIntyre, AD Rick George and school president Phil DeStefano took the appropriate steps after they were made aware of the assault allegations being made by Tumpkin's ex-girlfriend. MacIntyre and George were made aware of these allegations in December, but Tumpkin was still allowed to coach in bowl action. He stepped down in January. For the time being, the approval of an extension for MacIntyre has been put on hold while this Tumpkin case is investigated. "We are looking at what occurred and when, if our policies were violated, or whether those policies should be modified to better explain the reporting," said Board of Regents Chair Irene Griego.

Michigan State approved a one-year contract extension for HC Mark Dantonio.

This was something of a formality, as the six-year contract Dantonio signed last January had a provision for annual renewal. His new deal will run through January, 2023. After the extension was approved, school president Lou Anna K. Simon addressed the off-field turmoil surrounding the Spartans -- three players and a staffer have been indefinitely suspended pending an investigation into an alleged sexual assault -- saying, "My sense is that, if we had anything to be concerned about, we wouldn’t have moved forward with the action today. We’re still looking at everything, because it’s in his interest, as well."

Notre Dame received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 WR Micah Jones.

"They talked about me being that ‘W’ position, or outside receiver, where Equanimeous [St. Brown] plays right now. They want to use my length over the middle, in the red zone and (catching) fades," said Jones in explaining his football fit with the Irish. At 6-foot-5, 196 pounds, he could, indeed, prove to be a lethal target in the red zone. Rivals ranks him as the No. 158 overall prospect in the 2018 cycle and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Illinois.

Washington redshirt senior LB Psalm Wooching has decided that he will play rugby rather than try for the NFL.

"This has been a dream of mine for quite some time and I will do anything to accomplish it," Wooching wrote on Twitter. His hope is that he will be able to eventually compete in rugby during the Olympics. The 6-foot-4, 231-pounder was part of the U.S. rugby junior national team in high school. Last season, Wooching led Washington with six sacks. He also registered 42 tackles (7.0 for loss) and two forced fumbles. That strong work earned him All-Pac-12 honorable mention.
