Members of the Vanderbilt defense said they expect NC State QB Mike Glennon to play similarly to Tennessee junior QB Tyler Bray.

"Glennon has a real nice arm on him," Vanderbilt cornerback Trey Wilson said. "I would put him a very close second, in terms of arm strength, behind Bray. They take some chances... I want to see how many chances they are going to take with us." When looking at Bray's totals against Vanderbilt, 103 yards on 11-of-29 passing and two interceptions, this isn't much of a compliment. Neither are very mobile, but Glennon works much better in a quicker tempo offense.

Miami sophomore S Cedrick Wright will transfer.

Wright, a native of Dade County, appeared in nine games as a true freshman last season, mostly on special teams. Rated as a four-star safety prospect by ESPN in the class of 2016, Wright picked the Hurricanes Miami over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Ohio State and Tennessee, among others. Wright will sit the 2017 season if he transfers to another FBS school. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Alabama hired Philadelphia Eagles director of personnel operations Joe Pannunzio as tight ends and special teams coach.

The 57-year old Pannunzio was the Tide's director of football operations from 2011 to 2014. Pannunzio previously coached tight ends and special teams as a combination at TCU (1990-91), Minnesota (1992-94), Ole Miss (1995-98), Auburn (1999) and Miami (2006-10). He was the head coach at Murray State from 2000 to 2005. Pannunzio replaces Mario Cristobal as TE coach.

An AFC college scouting director says Michigan S Jabrill Peppers "is a better offensive player than defensive prospect."

"I'm concerned about the lack of interceptions and his lack of physicality," he said. "He is more of a run-and-chase defender to me. He might have a chance as a 4-3 (weakside) linebacker but I believe he might be better with the ball in his hands." A different AFC college scouting director also had concerns about Peppers' NFL positional fit. "He is a box safety or nickel linebacker. He doesn't play well in the back end and is just OK in man coverage. He does have a knack for blitzing and finding the ball in the box. I think you need to have a plan for him because he is good in the return game and he loves playing football. ... I just struggle with him as a defensive player." NFL Media's Bucky Brooks compares Peppers to Eric Weddle, writing: "I believe Peppers' positional flexibility has hurt his value on some draft boards, but astute evaluators and creative defensive minds will appreciate his multi-faceted game as an intriguing chess piece."

Utah RB Joe Williams explained that he retired from football briefly last year in part due to years of guilt and grief over the death of his sister in 2007.

His 7-year-old sister, Kylee, died of acute myocarditis -- a heart muscle inflammation -- after getting misdiagnosed with a a viral syndrome and discharged from the hospital. "People make it a big deal that I quit on the team. To me, it was necessary," Williams said. "I was learning to come to grips with the fact that it wasn't my fault. I'm 23 years old now, and I can't blame myself for something that occurred 10 years ago, no matter how painful or traumatic it was. It would be bigger to honor her in a much more meaningful way." Williams rushed for 1,017 yards in only five games after rejoining the team following his four-game retirement in 2016.

In a Walter Football poll asking six NFL teams whether Alabama T Cam Robinson will slide into the late first-round, three said yes and three said no.

The three that answered in the affirmative are concerned that Robinson's "inconsistencies from his junior season could cause him to slide." They were also concerned that Robinson could slide due to off-the-field concerns, namely a gun arrest roughly a year ago (the charges were eventually dropped). On the other side of the debate, one team picking in the early teens didn't believe Robinson would be available when they got on the clock. A personnel director of a playoff team said: "For selfish reasons, I would love it if he did slide and was an option for us, but I just don't think it will happen." A director of college scouting for an AFC team picking in the top-20 said his team has a top-15 grade on Robinson as a Russell Okung- or Ryan Clady-type left tackle. "He is top 15 easily. Who else will go before? Bolles? Ramczyk? Not even close."

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline maintains that Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon "won’t be selected at any point in the draft for obvious reasons."

The obvious reason being that Mixon was caught on tape punching a woman at a restaurant in 2014. That incident got Mixon suspended for a season and deprived him an invite to the NFL Combine. We'd currently predict that Mixon is taken early on Day 3, but his range of potential outcomes varies wider than any other prospect in the Draft. "The tape on Mixon is astounding at times," Pauline wrote. "He dominates as both a ball carrier and pass catcher for entire drives at a time. Looking at it solely from a football perspective, I would stamp a late first-round grade on Mixon."

One NFC Scouting Director told NFL.com's Lance Zierlein that Texas RB D'Onta Foreman's pass protection skills are "awful."

"Our coaches won't put him out there if they think he'll get the quarterback killed," the NFL personnel man said. There will be some disagreement with this statement, as Pro Football Focus charted Foreman with zero sacks in pass protection at some point this season. The truth is somewhere in the middle, and Texas' offensive style plays a big part. Many pass were off play action and were quick throws, either outside breaking routes versus off coverage or downfield shots. Foreman's pass pro reps do not tranlsate easily to many NFL offensee.

Miami received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 RB Camron Davis.

Davis was committed to Oregon State over the summer, but reopened his recruitment at the end of October. Miami is currently crushing the 2018 cycle. Davis (No. 176 overall on Rivals) isn't even their highest ranking running back commitment to date -- that would be Lorenzo Lingard (No. 16 overall on Rivals). Scout.com's analysis team notes that the 5-foot-9, 187-pound Davis "runs a little upright for a back his size and he shows a little stiffness, but he is a strong runner with a burst and vision."
