USC junior WR Robert Woods is expected to announce his NFL decision on Monday after the school's bowl game.

The Orange County Register cited sources stating that Woods "would probably turn pro, barring a last-minute change of heart." We don't think he possesses the number one receiver upside like his teammate Marqise Lee does, but Woods will likely be a top-50 selection in April. The LA Times wrote that Woods received a draft evaluation form the NFL that topped out in the second-round.

Texas received a verbal commitment from five-star 2019 T Tyler Johnson.

Johnson is a consensus five-star player, and he ranks 33rd overall -- seventh among tackles -- in 247 Sports composite rankings. He picks the Longhorns over schools like Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida and Georgia; to name a select few. At 6-foot-5, 308-pounds, Johnson already has the size to compete, and reports indicate he might be able to do just that when he enrolls. The Longhorns just might have picked up their left tackle of the future.

South Carolina received a verbal commitment from five-star 2019 DL Zacch Pickens.

Pickens ranks as the top strong-side defensive end in the country in 247 Sports composite rankings, and 14th overall among all players regardless of position. He had offers from your usual list of big-name school, and was seriously considering Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and LSU; just to name a select few. Reports call Pickens (6'5/268) a force on the defensive line who can impact the game as a run-stuffer and also get to the quarterback. A tremendous get for the Gamecocks already impressive class.

CBS Sports draft writer Aaron Donald compares Houston junior DT Ed Oliver to St. Louis Rams DT Aaron Donald.

Donald is one of -- if not the -- best players in football, not just defensive lineman. So, when you get compared to a player like this, it's a good thing. Obvious point is obvious. Trepasso notes that Oliver "Possesses the athleticism and speed of an off-ball linebacker but is 6-3 and 280-ish pounds, Incredible suddenness off the snap and into the backfield, and his twitchiness is elite." Like many, he does note that he needs to improve his pass-rushing skills, but he's far from bereft from pass-rushing moves. Oliver should be considered among the favorites to be the first pick of the 2019 draft.

Oregon dismissed senior LB Fotu Leiato following his late April arrest on charges of second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree theft.

Leiato (6'0/200) was actually dismissed immediately after his arrest, but the news of that dismissal is just breaking now. He's being cut loose in relation to an odd incident in April in which he was arrested after he removed a parking boot from his vehicle. That's a no-no. He also skipped out on an early April court appearance -- relating to an unpaid bus fare in November -- which led to an arrest warrant being issued on April 9. Leiato had turned in a strong spring prior to his running afoul of the law. He ends his Oregon career having appeared in 38 games (just one start), with 37 tackles recorded in that space.

Tennessee redshirt junior LB Darrin Kirkland will transfer as a graduate.

Kirkland (6'1/230) began his career in Knoxville with much promise, posting 66 tackles (6.5 for loss), three sacks and an interception as a true freshman during the 2015 season. It's been a slog for him on the health front since that productive entrance into the collegiate game, though. He missed six games in 2016 due to a high ankle sprain and was forced to sit out the entirety of the 2017 campaign due to a torn meniscus sustained in preseason camp. He subsequently underwent surgery on that knee. While his career has taken a few disappointing turns thus far, Kirkland still has two years of eligibility remaining to play around with once he settles on his transfer home.

Transferring Clemson freshman DT Josh Belk said that his unofficial visit to South Carolina on Wednesday "went great."

"I had a good conversation with [C]oach Muschamp about how much I can help the team. The coaches are still the fans towards me. They still want me. Showed that feelings never changed," Belk said. Several times in the above quote, the 6-foot-3, 325-pounder alluded to the fact that he and South Carolina were involved in an advanced courtship over the winter before the four-star defensive tackle signed on with Clemson in February. Georgia is playing host to the defensive tackle on Thursday. Regardless of whether he opts for the Gamecocks or Bulldogs (or Chanticleers -- Coastal Carolina should be viewed as a dark horse contender, here), he'll have to sit out the 2018 season to satisfy NCAA regulations.

Owen Brennan, the father of LSU sophomore QB Myles Brennan, said that his son remains "in a very, very good position to compete for the starting job" even after the team's addition of Ohio State QB Joe Burrow.

"He's going to compete and feels very comfortable with where his position is right now," said the elder Brennan of his son's place with the Tigers. Burrow transferred over to LSU earlier this month. While it's not uncommon for parents to hang the threat of transfer over a given program's head when playing time is potentially in jeopardy, Mr. Brennan did not even vaguely allude to his son considering a move. Brennan, Burrow, Lowell Narcisse and Justin McMillan will all be battling it out for starting honors in August camp.

Kentucky redshirt junior S Marcus Walker was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of trafficking marijuana and cocaine.

Walker (6'1/208) was arrested in the early-morning hours on Thursday. He's being accused of trafficking five pounds of marijuana and four grams of cocaine. A drug paraphernalia charge is also on the docket, here. Connecting the dots further, per the authorities, a search warrant for Walker's home resulted in the finding of a large amount of cash. Kentucky is aware of the arrest and in the process of gathering information. As of yet, they have not moved to suspend the redshirt junior. The former four-star recruit worked mostly as a special teams cog last season.

In their updated post-spring depth chart released on Wednesday, Clemson listed senior QB Kelly Bryant as the starter.

No "OR" about it with this one, as Bryant was definitively listed as starter with much-heralded true freshman Trevor Lawrence backing him up. We wouldn't read too much into this. Bryant took the opening snaps with the first-team in the spring and it would have required a monumental effort to leapfrog the incumbent starter in just a few weeks of practice time. The real test, here, will come in preseason camp. While Bryant is a serviceable starter who brings plus attributes to the table -- particularly as a runner -- Lawrence is considered a generational talent and has (by all accounts) acclimated well this offseason. Stay tuned for August.

Indefinitely suspended USC sophomore WR Joseph Lewis has reached a plea deal in which he's plead no contest to a pair of domestic battery charges.

Lewis looked like he was heading to trial in his ongoing domestic violence case -- the charges against him stemmed from two alleged incidents of domestic violence that precipitated his arrest in February -- but has now accepted the plea deal which he had initially ejected late last week. The fallout: Lewis will be on summary probation for 36 months, has been banned from possessing, using or owning a firearm for the next 10 years and will be required to take part in weekly domestic violence treatment program. He'll also be serving 60 days in the county jail (starting on June 15), though good behavior and such could get that knocked down to 30 days. In addition to all this, a protective order remains in place preventing the sophomore from approaching within 100 yards of the victim in this case. With his legal matters at an end, the wideout is hopeful he'll be reinstated to the team by the start of August camp. USC suspended him indefinitely following his initial arrest.

USC and Alabama have officially agreed to a season-opening contest for Sept. 5, 2020, in Arlington, Texas.

Reports of this match-up have been floating about this spring. It's official, now. The last time the two teams met -- opening the 2016 season -- it proved to be one of the more impactful games in recent memory for reasons far beyond the 52-6 final margin for Alabama. Midway through the contest, Jalen Hurts took over for Blake Barnett at quarterback for the Tide, while on the Trojans' sideline, we saw an inept Max Browne-led offense which would be helmed by Sam Darnold just weeks later.
