Syracuse senior QB Ryan Nassib completed 12-of-24 attempts for 127 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception against WVU.

The Orange did the majority of their damage on the ground, but Nassib made a few solid throws to go along with a handful of very poor ones. The senior is starting to generate plenty of buzz, but he lacks touch and steadiness in the pocket. Nassib moves when things are closing in around him, stepping up to buy time, but sometimes that movement is not necessary.

Florida received a verbal commitment from five-star 2018 QB Matt Corral.

Should Florida be able to hang onto Corral through National Signing Day this winter, he would be the biggest shark that HC Jim McElwain has hooked in recruiting since taking over at the helm two seasons ago. Corral (6'2/185) backed off a pledge to USC in mid-June, after which he began to sniff around the SEC. A visit to the Gators this weekend sealed the deal. On the field, he's as good as they get, with Scout.com comparing him to Brett Favre for his maverick playing style. There could be one more big reverberation from his Florida pledge, as Corral and fellow five-star QB Justin Fields were both eyeing some of the same programs. Don't be surprised if Fields ends up committing to Georgia now that Corral has moved his chess piece.

Indiana redshirt senior ILB T.J. Simmons (knee) received a medical hardship waiver for the 2017 season.

"He did everything that he could to get himself back from his knee injury," said HC Tom Allen, "but he was unable to reach a place where he could consistently play. T.J. is excited about his new role as a student assistant coach in the weight room and on the field." Prior to being way laid by the aforementioned knee injury which prevented him from playing last season, the 6-foot-1, 233-pound Simmons had turned in back-to-back 75-tackle seasons in 2014 and 2015.

Former LSU head coach Les Miles is "extremely interested" in the Ole Miss opening and has let the program boosters know it, according to Dan Wolken of USA Today.

Back in January, Miles said he was keeping his Power 5 options open, but he could not have seen a program like Ole Miss creating an opening in late July. Miles would certainly know the area and is a strong name. It appears as if Ole Miss will keep everything in place the season and work extensively on identifying a new coach down the line.

FAU Owl Access' Chuck King projects FAU junior WR DeAndre McNeal to be the team's No. 1 receiver.

King sees McNeal replacing the suspended Kalib Woods as the go-to perimeter target in Kendal Briles’ first FAU offense. King believes Woods will be dismissed and slot WR Kamrin Solomon will be suspended for their alleged roles in a fight that has Woods facing two felony battery charges. McNeal (6'3/215) began his career as a 236-pound tight end at Texas. He played under OC Sterlin Gilbert, a former grad assistant under Kendal’s father Art Briles at Houston. In other words, McNeal has a big head-start in learning his new offense. McNeal, the No. 75 JUCO player in the class of 2017, hauled in 42 passes for 640 yards and six touchdowns last season at Fullerton College. On Fantrax, he has dual WR/TE eligibility, adding to his fantasy appeal.

BetOnline lists SMU HC Chad Morris (+300) as the favorite to become the next head coach at Ole Miss.

Strangely enough, former Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley is No. 2 at +500. Rounding out the top-five is Blake Anderson (+700), Les Miles (+800) and Mike Norvell (+1000). Personally, our favorite candidate may be Troy's Neal Brown, who's No. 10 at +1600. The Rebels are searching for a new coach after Thursday night's resignation of Hugh Freeze. Matt Luke is serving as the interim HC.

Former New Mexico redshirt junior QB JaJuan Lawson transferred to Rhode Island as a graduate.

Lawson could have skipped to an FBS program and played immediately due to his graduate status, but he'll instead drop to the FCS level in hopes of winning a starting gig immediately. Stuck behind Lamar Jordan on the depth chart, he barely played last year, going 3-of-5 for 54 yards.

SI's Bruce Feldman ranked Penn State junior RB Saquon Barkley No. 1 on his annual "Freaks" list.

Deservedly so. The 5-foot-11, 228-pound Barkley has somehow managed to add 15 pounds while dropping his 40 time from 4.48 to 4.33 whilst on campus. "My freshman year I was explosive, but I didn’t have true speed," Barkley said. "My 20- and 30-yard burst was really good, but when I got to go 60 or 100 I didn’t really have another gear. My being a freshman playing with seniors, I really wanted to increase my 40." Barkley also broke Anthony Zettel’s school record with a 405 power clean. Oh, and he can do five reps squatting 525 pounds. Productive, explosive and a high-character person, some consider Barkley the best running back prospect of the last decade.

OwlAccess.com's Chuck King reports that FAU is considering taking disciplinary action against senior WR Kamrin Solomon for his alleged role in the fight that led to felony battery charges levied against fellow WR Kalib Woods.

King's sources identified Solomon as the second shirtless fighter in the surveillance video during the altercation. Solomon (6'2/205), the offensive MVP over the spring, is the projected starting slot receiver. Henry Bussey and D’Anfernee McGriff would fight for that designation if he's suspended or dismissed.

Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork said former HC Hugh Freeze would have been fired for cause had he not resigned.

Freeze resigned as the head coach at Ole Miss on Thursday after it became known that least one call from his university-issued cell phone was placed to an escort service. Freeze told Yahoo! Sports that the call was a misdial. Bjork responded by writing that "further vetting of Freeze’s phone records disclosed a ‘pattern of conduct’ that led the school administration to confront Freeze this week" and that the "moral turpitude" clause in Freeze’s contract would have been invoked in a firing had Freeze not stepped down first. According to Bjork, Freeze received no buyout and no settlement. OL coach Matt Luke was named interim head coach.

OwlAccess.com's Chuck King reports that FAU redshirt senior WR Kalib Woods "has likely played his last down at FAU."

Woods faces two felony charges for his alleged role in a bloody brawl at an off-campus banquet hall. Indefinitely suspended by FAU HC Lane Kiffin and barred from campus at present moment, King doesn't expect Woods to be reinstated. In fact, King already lists Woods as a "key loss" for the team. Woods projects Texas transfer DeAndre McNeal to take over at WR1.
