San Diego State junior TE Gavin Escobar has declared for April's NFL Draft.

A favorite of SI's Tony Pauline, Escobar is just another solid tight end prospect from along the west coast, which has proven to be a hotbed this season. He offers good size and solid athleticism for a prospect that can line up inline or detached from the line of scrimmage. Escobar will likely be selected on the Draft's second day.

Louisville junior CB Jaire Alexander is waiting on his draft grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Board.

Alexander's father says a second round pick or better would be an ideal evaluation for Alexander to turn pro, but there is no cut-off. The article below actually adds a new piece of information to the draft process, as the board requests the player and his family to submit which three games they want to be evaluated.

Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Five quarterbacks have accepted an invitation to the all-star game. Six is the standard number, but the event featured eight quarterbacks in 2016 so a few more names could be on the way... namely Baker Mayfield. At times, Rudolph has received plenty of love thanks to his touch and size. However, he and Mayfield have gone in different directions this season. A top two or three round pick might be in his future.

NFL Media's Lance Zierlein believes Oklahoma junior Orland Brown could emerge as the top T prospect in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Zierlein is extremely plugged into the NFL evaluation process, specifically offensive linemen. So, when Zierlein states "I think Orlando b\Brown probably goes 1st based on what I know so far" when asked which prospect at the position will be drafted first, we listen. Brown is a mountain of a man, with a listed size of 6-foot-8 and 342-pounds. Oklahoma's offensive line was one of the best in the country this season.

SI's Albert Breer would be surprised if Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson is selected in the first round.

Breer insinuates the NFL views Jackson as the same player now as he was going into 2016. The questions include anticipation, process a pro offense and the belief Jackson is "more thrower than passer." This topic will be discussed throughout the entire draft process. What we do know is Jackson is one of the top playmakers at his position in years.

Arizona State defensive coordinator Phil Bennett will not return to the Sun Devils for the 2018 season.

Bennett is leaving due to "family matters" that have not been disclosed as this time. The Sun Devils plan was to bring in Herm Edwards at head coach and leave the staff the same. They'll have to replace at least one coach now. Bennett has been the defensive coordinator now for Arizona State, Pitt, Kansas State, Iowa State, Purdue, LSU and TCU.

According to K-State Online, HC Bill Snyder plans to return for the 2018 season.

Snyder is the oldest coach in the FBS at 78-years-old, but will return for at least one more year with the Wildcats, who went 7-5 in 2017. There were rumors that Snyder vetoed a deal with current Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt to become the head coach in waiting, with the report being that Snyder wants his son, Sean Snyder, to take over when he retires. He currently has a career record of 209-110-1 in his time at Kansas State. They'll take on UCLA in the Cactus Bowl on December 26.

UCF senior LB Shaqueem Griffin was named one of three finalists for the inaugural Jason Witten Collegiate Man Of The Year award.

The other nominees were Alabama's Minkah Fitzpatrick and Oklahoma State's Mason Rudolph. Griffin is the brother of current Seattle Seahawk DB Shaquill Griffin, and has overcome having his hand amputated as a four-year-old due to a congenital disorder. It hasn't kept him from being one of the best defensive players in the AAC, and he has a real chance to be draft this spring.
Dec 12 - 4:43 PM

Nebraska HC Scott Frost will coach UCF against Auburn in the Peach Bowl.

Frost promised that he would coach the Knights if he could, and he'll fulfill that promise. All of his assistants were in Orlando to help the team prepare for their game against the Tigers on New Year's Day, and will remain there until Thursday. Troy Walters is serving as interim coach until Josh Huepel takes over for the 2018 season, but it will be Frost and not Walters on the sideline in Atlanta.
Dec 12 - 1:59 PM

Sonny Dykes will be on the sideline coaching for SMU in the Frisco Bowl against Louisiana Tech.

Generally, new coaches don't come in and coach bowl games; it's usually left to the remaining staff to prepare the players for the game. Not this time. Dykes will coach the Mustangs in the Frisco Bowl, and bring in some staff in order to help with the game operations. Adding to the intrigue of this news is that Dykes will be coaching against Louisiana Tech, a school he coached at from 2010 to 2012. This could be a fun Frisco Bowl.
Dec 12 - 1:09 PM

Wisconsin senior LB Jack Cichy will not apply for a medical redshirt and will instead enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

Cichy missed the entire 2017 season after tearing his ACL in August and was one of many major injuries Wisconsin has to overcome. Cichy was viewed as a potential top 100 prospect prior to the injury and could still land in that area depending on his participation in the pre-draft process. Cichy also missed extended time in 2016 due to a torn pec, but was outstanding when on the field.

Four-star G Trey Hill announced his verbal commitment to play at Georgia Monday.

Hill (6'4/346) chose to attend Georgia over Auburn, Florida and Florida State. He's ranked the top guard prospect in the country by ESPN, and second by 247 Sports. He clearly has the size to be a powerful run blocker, but scouting reports also dictate that he's a capable pass blocker and offers a "strong punch." He's another impressive commit for one of the top classes in the country.
