Texas A&M junior T Luke Joeckel drew a comparison to Jake Long from former NFL executive Jake Long.

Long, obviously, was selected with the first pick in his respective draft class. We think Joeckel and Long's styles are somewhat different, in that Joeckel likes to extend and control like a technician, while Long prefers to get aggressive and attack with active hands. Regardless, expect Joeckel to be one of the first prospects selected in April.

FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman reports that former Miami DL coach Craig Kuligowski will join Alabama's staff.

Kuligowski is expected to become Nick Saban's new DL coach. Kuligowski played for Saban at Toledo. Since then, he's turned into one of the game's best DL coaches, getting rave reviews for his work with Missouri and Miami. He developed five first-round defensive linemen at Mizzou, and his Hurricane unit was incredibly active over the past two seasons.

Miami announced in a press release that DL coach Craig Kuligowski "is leaving the program to pursue other opportunities."

This is disappointing -- Kuligowski is considered one of the top DL coaches in the game -- but not shocking. Kuligowski recently interviewed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their DL coach opening. He didn't get that job, but perhaps he has his eye on a different position.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline believes that Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield will be "significantly overdrafted."

Pauline offers the preface that he loves to watch Mayfield play; citing his improvisational skills, and he disagrees with those who cite off-the-field concerns and his cocky attitude. But despite this, he does believe he'll be overdraft. "When I watched him on film, I saw many of the same red flags I witnessed during Senior Bowl practice -- he’s a tough, heady signal caller but has mediocre arm talent," Pauline writes. "Time and time again, receivers who were open in the deep field purposely slowed down their routes awaiting for the ball to arrive. When Mayfield tried to put zip on passes, he was often high of the mark." While these may seem like strong criticisms, there's at least some validity to them, because otherwise he'd be the obvious first-overall selection. It just takes one team to fall in love with his skills, but there's at least a chance that Mayfield could fall down draft boards.

While listing the top candidates to break John Ross's 40-yard dash combine record, Daniel Jeremiah says it's possible that Penn State RB Saquon Barkley will run a time in the 4.3 range.

That obviously wouldn't really challenge Ross for his record (4.22), but it would still be an extremely impressive time considering his frame. "You might think it's crazy to mention Barkley with these other legitimate track stars," Jeremiah writes. "However, Barkley's play speed jumps off the tape and he's reportedly run in the 4.3s at Penn State, despite weighing 230-plus pounds." If Barkley does post a time in that range, it will just solidify the expectations that he'll be off the board in the first five picks.

Jim McElwain has told ESPN's Chris Low that he has joined the Michigan coaching staff.

"I'm excited to get back into it and am looking forward to going there and learning and helping Michigan get better," McElwain told Low. He replaces Dan Enos, who left the Wolverines to join the Alabama coaching staff. Bruce Feldman reported on Friday that McElwain could have offensive coordinator duties as part of his new role. He's been a head coach for both Colorado State and Florida, and he has a career win-loss record of 44-28.

Benjamin Allbright reports that the Bills are trying to trade up into the top ten of this year's draft, presumably to acquire a quarterback.

The Bills have both the 21st and 22nd pick in this year's draft, as they acquired Kansas City's first-round pick last spring in the Patrick Mahomes deal. What quarterback they'd be targeting remains to be seen, but there has been recent speculation tying them to UCLA's Josh Rosen. His arm strength should play fine in the cold wind of Buffalo, and many consider him the most "NFL ready" signal-caller in the class. Stay tuned; we often see trade movement around the combine, and that's just around the corner.

Washington State HC Mike Leach went on SiriusXM radio and stated that he believed both USC QB Sam Darnold and UCLA QB Josh Rosen should have stayed in school.

"I thought they both should have stayed," Leach said on SiriusXM NFL radio. "I think that Rosen measures out better in some areas, the ball he throws is real pretty, but to me it seems like Darnold elevates his team and I think those guys play around him a little better." According to most draft analysts, Darnold and Rosen are the top two quarterback prospects in the class, with Darnold having a chance to be the first-overall pick. The Pirate seems to feel they could have used another year of seasoning.

Transferring Cal redshirt senior RB Tre Watson posted to social media earlier this month that he would be visiting BYU.

Watson (5'10/190) tweeted this out about 10 days ago. It's unclear whether he's taken that trip to BYU or if that'll come at a later date. The Cougars were among the teams that initially recruited Watson when he was a four-star recruit coming out of high school in 2014. While he had his moments with the Golden Bears -- including a 2016 season in which he posted 709 yards rushing -- he was sidelined for the bulk of the 2017 campaign after sustaining a lower-body injury this past September. If there's a team that needs a modestly productive Power 5 back, BYU would fit that bill. They trotted out one of the worst offenses in the country last season.

Georgia DC Mel Tucker has been awarded a $900,000 raise.

Tucker made $600,000 for the 2017 season. He'll be buying a few extra Christmas presents next winter, as he's now set to make $1.5 million in 2018. For reference's sake, only four assistants made at least $1.5 million for the past year -- LSU DC Dave Aranda, LSU then-OC Matt Canada (who moved on to Maryland earlier this winter), Texas A&M then-DC John Chavis (now with Arkansas) and Clemson DC Brent Venables.

Kansas State DC Tom Hayes has retired.

Hayes' impending retirement was reported as in the works by many an outlet near the end of January, with K-State now officially confirming that the longtime coach would be stepping off into the sunset. It's been a long ride for Hayes, who's been working sidelines -- both collegiate and NFL -- since 1977. He's served as Kansas State's defensive coordinator since 2012. With Hayes stepping down, LB coach Blake Seiler will receive a bump up to DC.

Fresno State signed uncommitted four-star 2018 C Tyrone Sampson.

Better late than never? Believe it or not, Sampson actually planned on signing with Syracuse in December and enrolling early with the Orange. He had been committed to the program for eight months before having a last-minute change of heart. Ole Miss and Nebraska then emerged as fresh options for the 6-foot-3, 304-pounder, but scheduled official visits to those programs in the lead-up to National Signing Day were ultimately canceled, leaving Sampson up in the air when the remainder of the 2018 class signed with their respective programs on Feb. 7. Fresno State entered the fray late and hey, what do you know, they gain a four-star center, now. Not too shabby for HC Jeff Tedford and company. He's got a nasty temperament on the field to pair with rock-solid fundamentals and technique.
