Kansas QB Dayne Crist was named MVP of the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl after completing 7-of-10 passes for 61 yards and a touchdown and rushing for a second score.

The National team crushed the American team 34-0, with Crist staking his side to a 17-0 first-half lead. Ex-Rams coach Dick Vermeil coached the National team while Herm Edwards guided the Americans. Crist, a former Notre Dame transfer, completed just 47.7 percent of 216 passes for Charlie Weis' Jayhawks in 2012, compiling a 4:9 TD-to-INT ratio. Crist has a big arm, but his accuracy was always a major issue in college. He's unlikely to be drafted.

Florida HC Jim McElwain indicated that redshirt junior QB Luke Del Rio (knee) is "highly unlikely" to play in Saturday's showdown with Vanderbilt.

McElwain didn't rule Del Rio out completely, but he would need a strong showing during the practice week health-wise. The 6-foot-1, 213-pounder sat out Saturday's meltdown against Tennessee, with Austin Appleby starting in his place. Appleby played well in the first half before the Volunteers put the clamps to the Gators' jaws after halftime.

Arizona freshman RB J.J. Taylor broke his left ankle in Saturday's overtime loss to Washington.

With lead back Nick Wilson sitting out Saturday's contest due to a leg injury, Taylor earned the start. The 5-foot-6, 170-pound freshman gashed Washington to the tune of 97 yards and a score on 19 carries prior to breaking his ankle. HC Rich Rodriguez called it "extremely frustrating." If Wilson can't suit up against UCLA this weekend, the burden of toting the rock figures to fall to Zach Green and Tyrell Johnson.

Florida International fired HC Ron Turner.

Turner held a 10-30 record since taking over as Golden Panthers' head coach before the start of the 2012 campaign. This season, FIU had slogged out to an 0-4 start in September, most recently falling by a 53-14 final against UCF. DC Ron Cooper will take over as interim head coach moving forward. First up on the docket for Cooper, next weekend's showdown with FAU.

Former LSU head coach Les Miles told Dan Patrick he would "have a difficult time not coaching football."

Basically Miles said he will be coaching somewhere else soon, and we would expect his name to come up quickly after the season. "I don’t golf. I play no tennis. I enjoy shooting the gun, I don’t necessarily like pointing it an animals. I play cards," Miles told Patrick. Miles coaches at Oklahoma State prior to joining LSU in 2005 and also coached offensive lineman at Colorado and Michigan before that.

Duke redshirt senior S/CB DeVone Edwards will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL and MCL.

The two ligament tears were to his left knee. This ends Edwards' collegiate career. Along with his defensive accomplishments, Edwards tied the NCAA record with six kickoff returns for a touchdown. Duke faces Virginia next. Edwards will receive NFL looks.

LSU fired HC Les Miles.

Miles managed to survive rampant unemployment rumors last November, but he couldn't avoid the boot this time around. The Tigers have been almost completely listless on offense this season, having surpassed 25 points scored in just one of four games. "Decisions like this are never easy ones to make. Coach Miles has done a tremendous job here and he’s been a great ambassador for our University," said AD Joe Avella in a statement, "which makes this even more difficult." In addition to Miles' termination, OC Cam Cameron has also been shown the door. DL coach Ed Orgeron will take over as interim head coach moving forward, while TE coach Steve Ensminger is expected to step in for Cameron.

Notre Dame fired DC Brian VanGorder.

After last weekend's loss to Michigan State, HC Brian Kelly said that the notion of firing VanGorder was "not even part of the conversation." How things change in the course of seven days. Duke defeated Notre Dame 38-35 on Saturday, winning as a three-touchdown underdog. That was the final straw. Through four games with VanGorder vaguely guiding the ship, Notre Dame had surrendered 134 points. "I have the utmost respect for Brian as both a person and football coach," said Kelly, "but our defense simply isn't where it should be and I believe this change is necessary for the best interest of our program and our student-athletes." Defensive analyst Greg Hudson will take over as defensive coordinator moving forward.

An NFC scout believes Alabama senior ILB Reuben Foster will get drafted earlier than expected.

"I think Reuben Foster is going to get drafted way earlier than people expect," the scout said. "(Luke) Kuechly got drafted early and I think Foster has the same (expletive) to him." Kuechly, the best middle linebacker in the NFL, was drafted ninth overall in the 2012 draft. "What this scout means is that Foster plays with the same nastiness as Kuechly, which is a high compliment to pay the Alabama linebacker," Lance Zierlein wrote. "Foster is known as an angry hitter with bad intentions. What doesn't get enough attention is his speed to go sideline to sideline in order to chase down plays." The analyst believes Foster's game fits any scheme.

Baylor junior WR K.D. Cannon exited Saturday's victory over Oklahoma State in the third quarter with a groin injury.

Per Baylor coach Jim Grobe, Cannon suffered the injury in practice during the week and then aggravated it against the Cowboys. He was in street clothes and seen limping at the end of the game. We'll update you on his status when more is known.

Baylor sophomore WR Ishmael Zamora caught eight passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 35-24 win over Oklahoma State.

Zamora missed the first three games of the season while serving out a suspension. You wouldn't know it from watching Saturday's game. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder caught both of his touchdowns in the second quarter, finishing out the game with a stellar 21.8 yards per reception. Playing in a fantasy-friendly offensive system, Zamora is a prime waiver-wire option.

Baylor redshirt senior QB Seth Russell completed 18-of-28 passes for 387 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 35-24 win over Oklahoma State.

Baylor has played a typically cushy early schedule, but things will start ramping up for the Bears now that they have hit conference play. As has been the case several times this season, their offense was sluggish early. The game was knotted at 7-all after one quarter, at which point, Russell and friends started to do their thing. He threw a pair of touchdown passes to Ishmael Zamora in the second quarter and hit Chris Platt for a pair after the halftime break. Through four games, Russell has racked up 1,148 passing yards with a 13/4 TD/INT ratio. He should be able to shred Iowa State next weekend.
