CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman tweeted that the "work ethic knock" on West Virginia QB Geno Smith is "total BS."

"He spent more hours in WVU (football building) after midnight than the custodial crew," Feldman added. This comes a day after Geno's work habits and leadership abilities were severely questioned by Pro Football Weekly's Nolan Nawrocki. We've only read positive things about Geno's off-field study habits.

Miami (FL) remained second in the latest version of the Coaches Poll released on Sunday.

Once again, Alabama ranked first, and they received all 64 first-place votes. Miami ranked second after their comeback victory over Virginia, and Clemson, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma rounding out the top five. The top 12 remained the same, with the biggest dropper being Oklahoma State, who fell from 13 to 21st after their loss to Kansas State.

Clemson freshman WR Tee Higgins caught six passes for 178 yards with two touchdowns in a 61-3 crushing of The Citadel.

Higgins (6'3/175) caught two touchdowns from two different backup quarterbacks. His 32-yarder in the second quarter came from Zerrick Cooper, and a 78-yard scoring pass came out of the hand of Hunter Johnson. Yes it came against an FBS school in garbage time, but it was still impressive to see what the freshman wideout did when given a chance. He should be a bigger part of the offense next year.
Nov 19 - 12:47 PM

San Diego State senior RB Rashaad Penny carried the ball 24 times for 222 yards with two scores in Saturday's 42-23 victory over Nevada.

It's the third straight game that Penny (5'11/200) has gone over 200 yards for the Aztecs, and also the third time in a row he's scored at least two touchdowns. Not only did he score twice in the run game, he also added a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown. If not for two games where he ran for a combined for 134 yards, Penny would probably be in the Heisman race. He'll look to get to 2,000 yards next week when the Aztecs play New Mexico on Friday.
Nov 19 - 10:30 AM

UCLA junior QB Josh Rosen completed 32-of-52 passes for 421 yards with three touchdowns and a pick in a 28-23 loss to USC on Saturday.

Rosen (6'4/218) clearly outplayed fellow QB/rival Sam Darnold, but it was Darnold who got the victory on Saturday. Rosen's inaccuracy is a bit misrepresented, as many of those passes were throwaways while under pressure. For the most part, he was accurate, showed off his arm strength, and found playmaker Jordan Lasley three times in the end zone. With the loss, Rosen and the Bruins will need to beat Cal next week in order to reach a bowl game.
Nov 19 - 12:08 AM

UCLA redshirt junior WR Jordan Lasley caught 10 passes for 204 yards and scored three times in a 28-23 loss to USC on Saturday.

Lasley (6'1/210) has been outstanding since returning from suspension, and gave the USC defense everything they can handle and more. His first score came on a beautiful back-shoulder throw from Josh Rosen in the end zone, and he scored again on a nine-yarder in the third quarter to make it 21-14 USC. His final score was a 27-yarder from Rosen that was the final score of the game to make it 28-23 Trojans. Lasley is clearly a playmaker that is coming on strong at the right time. UCLA plays Cal next week, with the winner headed to a bowl game.

West Virginia redshirt junior QB Will Grier (finger) will miss several weeks after undergoing surgery.

Grier broke his middle finger while trying to score for a touchdown against the Longhorns on Saturday. If the injury truly will keep him out several weeks, he's out for next week's season finale against Oklahoma, and unless the Mountaineers make a bowl game that's played in late December, he's probably out for the rest of the year. In his place, Chris Chugunov will likely start at quarterback for the Mountaineers.

Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson completed 14-of-26 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 56-10 win over Syracuse.

Per usual, Jackson performed brilliantly. Three of the four total touchdowns on his ledger came in the first half as Louisville raced out to an insurmountable 35-3 advantage before the two teams hit their respective locker rooms. The reigning Heisman winner has played every bit like a potential repeat performer this year, having now accounted for 40 scores in 11 contests. He'll try to leave award voters with one last beaut of a game when the Cardinals take on Kentucky next Saturday.
Nov 18 - 7:50 PM

Oklahoma senior QB Baker Mayfield went 20-for-30 and threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 41-3 victory over Kansas.

During the coin toss before the game, Mayfield tried to shake hands with Kansas captains Daniel Wise, Dorance Armstrong Jr. and Joe Dineen Jr. They stared back and didn't offer their hands. Thusly disrespected, Mayfield went out and shredded the Jayhawks. He was demonstrative throughout, not forgetting the snub, grabbing his crotch while cursing the Kansas bench. At one point, he turned to Kansas fans behind OU's bench and screamed: "You have one win! Go cheer on basketball!" This was Mayfield's lowest passing yardage total of the season. That's likely no consolation for Kansas' humbled defense.
Nov 18 - 7:47 PM

Oklahoma redshirt sophomore RB Rodney Anderson rushed for 77 yards on 16 carries in Saturday's 41-3 victory over Kansas.

Anderson (6'2/223) also caught two passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. This was the fifth consecutive game that Anderson has topped 100 yards from scrimmage. In the second half of the season, he's been one of the nation's best offensive weapons.
Nov 18 - 7:38 PM

Duke sophomore RB Shaun Wilson rushed for 73 yards on 11 carries, caught three balls for 36 yards and two touchdowns and threw for a four-yard touchdown in Saturday's 43-20 win over Georgia Tech.

Wilson was everywhere today. We want to talk about the passing touchdown, because it was a slick bit of play-calling by offensive coordinator Zac Roper. On Georgia Tech's 4-yard line, QB Daniel Jones handed the ball to Wilson, who took a few steps towards the line of scrimmage before floating a jump pass to a wide-open TE Daniel Helm. That gave Duke a 36-20 lead early in the fourth quarter and essentially put the game out of hand. Duke closes out the regular season at Wake Forest next week.
Nov 18 - 7:29 PM

Kansas State junior WR Byron Pringle caught four passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 45-40 win over Oklahoma State.

Pringle (6'2/205) posted his best game of the season in this one while helping Kansas State (6-5) to achieve bowl eligibility. All three of his touchdown grabs on the evening were of the long variety -- they went for 47, 46 and 60. In addition, the junior also went off for an 89-yard kickoff return for a score midway through the second quarter. Prior to this monster showing, Pringle had not topped 100 yards receiving since he put in 121 yards against Central Arkansas in the first game of the season.
