Former Notre Dame junior QB Everett Golson's departure from the school is reportedly academically related.

It was initially reported that Golson left due to a resident life violation, but a departure that is academically related is worse in regards to his future. Per John Infante, who specializes in NCAA bylaws, "if Golson is out due to an academic violation (as opposed to Res-Life violation), he can’t get a scholarship anywhere next year."

Auburn beat writer Brandon Marcello cites a source close to junior Duke Williams who says the receiver is "ready" to play.

As we blurbed yesterday, Auburn coaches have yet to declare Williams healthy to the media, but remain hopeful he will play. Williams sprained his MCL earlier this month. He is Auburn's top slot target, and the Tigers face Alabama this weekend.

Clemson freshman QB Deshaun Watson will practice on Monday after spraining his MCL nine days ago.

The injury occurred just a few weeks after spraining his LCL. Watson will wear a non-contact jersey, but that is common for all quarterbacks during practice. ""He can't be a sitting duck back there; he's got to be able to move and scramble and run. So we'll evaluate that and see where he is," head coach Dabo Swinney said. Senior Cole Stoudt would start in Watson's place if the freshman can't go.

Texas A&M true freshman DE Myles Garrett is expected to play against LSU on Thanksgiving despite sitting out the game against Missouri with an unspecified injury.

Garrett is the school's bets defensive player in just his first season, breaking the SEC record in sacks for a freshman and producing plenty of disruption. He will face off against La'El Collins, one of the top tackle prospects in this class.

Oklahoma freshman RB Samaje Perine was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s Offensive Player of the Week.

Wonder how long that voting took. Perine rushed for 427 yards and five touchdowns on 34 carries against Kansas, snapping Melvin Gordon III's FBS record, set one week before. Unbelievably, Perine came off the bench to begin his record-setting day. The Jayhawks wish he hadn't.

Arizona State junior RB D.J. Foster demonstrated the "versatile skill set that has led scouts to compare him to current New England Patriots back Shane Vereen" against Washington State, according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

The Sun Devils relied on Foster to provide the offensive fireworks against Washington State with projected first-round wide receiver Jaelen Strong out due to a concussion. The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Foster spent large portions of the game unable to find room to run, but Wazzu wasn't able to deny him completely. Foster finished with 96 rushing yards and three touchdowns, as well as 59 yards receiving.

Colorado State senior RB Dee Hart matched a school record with six touchdowns in Saturday's win over New Mexico.

Five came on the ground, and one came through the air. Hart finished with a career-high 230 rushing yards on 20 carries, adding 42 yards as a receiver. Hart, a former Alabama player and a one-time former No. 1 all-purpose back by Rivals.com, has 1,139 rushing yards and 16 rushing scores (18 total) on the season.

Auburn junior WR Duke Williams (sprained MCL) is expected to return to action for Saturday's Iron Bowl matchup against Alabama.

"We are hoping he will be back this week," head coach Gus Malzahn said. "I am not ready to make that call yet, but we are hopeful." Williams suffered the sprained MCL in his right knee against Texas A&M several weeks ago. Duke leads the team with 36 catches for 609 yards and five touchdowns. The offense has cratered in his absence.

FSU redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston said there was nothing malicious about his contact with an official in the third quarter of Saturday's win against Boston College.

Midway through that period, with the score tied 17-17, an official stood between Winston and C Cam Erving to prevent the Seminoles from snapping because the defense hadn't been given ample time to make substitutions. Winston tried to move the official out of the way. "He was just holding me because he said we had a substitution," Winston said of the official. "It was actually a fast-tempo play, so I was trying to get up under there and let it ride." Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher echoed the sentiment, indicating that the Seminoles had sent in an RB, unbeknownst to his signal-caller.

UCLA redshirt junior QB Brett Hundley completed 22 of 31 attempts for 326 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the school's 38-20 win over USC.

He added another rushing touchdown. The box score looks outstanding, but anyone who watched the game could see it was fabricated from a passing standpoint thanks to broken coverages. We saw Hundley make one or two positive plays, in terms of sticking to the pocket and looking downfield. However, a respectable touchdown throw was made to a wide open receiver in the middle of the field with zero pressure up front and a large portion of the passing yards were created after the catch by receivers. All in all, this game showed us nothing we do not already know.

ECU senior WR Justin Hardy broke Ryan Broyles' FBS record of 349 career receptions in Saturday's 34-6 win over Tulane.

Hardy came into the game needing just four catches to surpass Broyles. He ended up with nine receptions for 104 yards to put him at 355 career catches. The senior has a few more games to pad his shiny new record. Fittingly, Hardy didn't bust anything longer than 21 yards in the game. The senior's a consummate possession receiver who uses his excellent body control and sure hands to move the chains. He's viewed as a mid-round draft selection, where he could find a career in the NFL working out of the slot, something he's already shown a great ability to do at the college level.
Nov 22 - 8:51 PM

Oregon redshirt junior QB Marcus Mariota completed 24-of-32 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 44-10 win over Colorado.

Mariota just keeps on truckin' along toward a Heisman and possible Top-3 draft selection. On Saturday, he broke the Pac-12 single-season record for total TDs with 42. It had previously been set by USC's Matt Barkley in 2011. In addition to his 323 yards through the air, Mariota also added 73 on the ground. He showed off his effortless speed on a 46-yard touchdown run off read-option at the end of the first quarter. Mariota simply took the ball, tucked it and ran past the secondary without being touched. Games like this remind why NFL.com's Charles Davis has compared Mariota to Robert Griffin III.
