Florida junior QB Jeff Driskel has signed a baseball contract with the Boston Red Sox but remains committed to focusing on football.

Driskel was selected in the 29th round of the MLB Draft and insists he is in no rush to switch sports. In fact, he will only pursue a baseball career once his time with football has come to an end. "Nothing changes," Driskel posted on his Twitter account. "I am still a full time student athlete at UF, fully committed to playing football."

Clemson RB Zac Brooks will miss the 2014 season due to a broken foot.

Brooks will reportedly redshirt the season and have two more years of eligibility. He is one of the team's primary backups at running back and offers more power than other ball carriers on the roster. It is a position of depth for the Tigers. Brooks rushed for and two touchdowns 246 yards on 48 carries last year.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt believes Stanford redshirt junior WR Devon Cajuste could be more special than teammate Ty Montgomery.

Montgomery has earned plenty of buzz thanks to his exceptional straight-line speed, but we think Montgomery does not show that same speed during non-vertical routes and does not consistently win in contested situations. Cajuste is a much bigger frame and has previously been used in the same capacity as receiving tight ends.

Redshirt sophomore Wes Lunt has won Illinois' starting QB job.

Lunt transferred from Oklahoma State prior to last season. The redshirt sophomore was competing with senior Reilly O'Toole and sophomore Aaron Bailey. Back in 2012, Lunt was the first true freshman to starting the Oklahoma State's opening game since 1950. He completed 62 percent of his passes while registering six touchdowns and seven interceptions in six games during his lone season with the Cowboys.

Kent State starting redshirt junior C Jason Bitsko died unexpectedly on Wednesday.

Obviously this is terrible news. Bitsko was found unresponsive in his apartment and the cause of death is not known. He started 12 games at right tackle in 2013. Our condolences go out to Bitsko's family and the Kent State program. The center's last tweet read: "There are 86,400 seconds in a day. Make sure you use one of those to thank god for everything you have."

Oregon redshirt junior Andre Yruretagoyena and senior Jake Fisher are both taking LT snaps during preseason camp.

Projected starter Tyler Johnstone went down with a second major knee injury, and Yruretagoyena's name was one of the first to be mentioned as a replacement. We are fans of Fisher as a second day talent and would not mind seeing him get a chanc eon the left side. "The key there is if you lose someone who is your second tackle then you don't want to put in your tenth offensive lineman, you want to put in your sixth," head coach Mark Helfrich said.

Oregon junior RB Bryan Marshall is being "overshadowed" by the younger ball carriers on the team.

Marshall is "adjusting to a bigger workload slowly," according to beat writer Andrew Greif. Apparently head coach Mark Helfrich has said Oregon wants to expand Marshall's blocking and receiving. Sophomore Thomas Tyner and freshman Royce Freeman have impressed during preseason work.

Ohio State senior QB Braxton Miller says he will return to school for the 2015 season.

"I am on course to graduate in December and I want to attend graduate school, and then return to lead the Buckeyes next season," Miller said in a statement. The quarterback will undergo another surgery to his right shoulder to repair a torn labrum. Depending on redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett's success this season, we are not sure if Miller's word on returning will stand. According to reports, Miller was very close to declaring for the 2014 draft. More evaluators will likely look at Miller as a running back after a second surgery to his throwing arm.

LSU true freshman DT Travonte Valentine is in "the final phases of the admission process," reports the Baton Rouge Advocate.

Valentine‘s high school coach Mike Tunsil confirmed the news to the newspaper. Yesterday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that Valentine had been green-lighted by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Assuming there are no hiccups to the process, Valentine was expected to arrive on campus Tuesday and begin practicing as soon as Wednesday. Valentine won’t be in full pads until his fifth practice day due to the NCAA’s mandated four-day acclimation period. The athletic 6-foot-3, 325-pounder was rated as the No. 34 overall player in his class by 247Sports.com.

Florida true freshman DT Thomas Holley will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip and miss the 2014 season.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Holley, the country's No. 3-rated defensive tackle prospect, needs four months to recover. The Gators will redshirt him this season. "I'm disappointed for Thomas," Florida coach Will Muschamp said. "Certainly a guy that athletically we were very excited about. Originally when he came in for the pre-physical, he'd had the sports hernia repaired and that's where he thought his pain was coming from. And then on the pre-physical we saw this. We wanted to see how far we could take it, but we knew eventually there was probably going to be a surgery involved. He just had a lot of discomfort involved, so we just decided to go ahead and do it."

Ohio State sophomore RB Ezekiel Elliott has been cleared to play following wrist surgery.

Elliott underwent surgery on his left wrist just over a week ago. Elliott had 262 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 8.7 yards per carry as a true freshman last year. Expect the 6-foot, 225-pound four-star recruit in the 2013 class to help pick up a bulk of the rushing attempts left by Carlos Hyde's departure.
