NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah compared Clemson junior WR Sammy Watkins to Torrey Smith based on first impressions.

"The more I watch Sammy Watkins, the more I like him," Jeremiah tweeted. "He's extremely explosive and he has a little more wiggle than I first thought." We expect Watkins to be a more refined receiver than Torrey Smith was coming out of college, displaying the ability to be more than just a vertical threat early in his career.

Rutgers senior QB Gary Nova is available to play against Wisconsin, but the the team will not disclose a starter until kickoff.

Nova was helped off the field against Nebraska last week with what appeared to be a nasty knee injury. Apparently it was not as serious as first guessed. Nova has thrown 14 touchdowns compared to nine interceptions while completing 60 percent of his passes. If not Nova, Chris Laviano would start.

Cincinnati redshirt sophomore QB Gunner Kiel started Friday's game against Tulane, but promptly left the game following a first play interception after re-injuring his ribs.

Kiel has really struggled to return from the rib issue. He attempted to come back last week against USF, but was forced out at halftime. It did not even take a full series in this one, as Kiel was intercepted on a deep pass and could not continue. Munchie Legaux, who has starting experience, stepped in and played very well. Cincinnati ultimately won the game 38-14.

Michigan State junior QB Connor Cook told Dan Patrick he plans on returning to school for the 2015 season.

"I was planning on it the whole time, even before this conversation," Cook said. "Who wants to leave college? College is fun... We are just taking it one week at a time as the season goes. The main goal is to use up all of my eligibility here at Michigan State." Cook did say if he was guaranteed to be a first-round pick , that would be one reason to leave. Cook has a ridiculous arm and is willing to throw into contested situations, but he really needs to improve his pocket movement against pressure.

NFL Media's Mike Mayock compares Nebraska senior RB Ammer Abdullah to Giovani Bernard.

Abdullah "is a space player at 5'9/195 pounds," Mayock begins. "He also has toughness and quickness. What I like is the balance, the quickness and the drive to finish." Mayock adds he does not see Abdullah as a three down player, but it is worth noting Bernard went in the second-round with the same label. Abdullah has not dealt with any significant injuries throughout his four years at Nebraska. We think Abdullah fits in a zone focused scheme, and is already succeeding behind a slant blocking offensive line.

Michigan AD Dave Brandon has resigned.

Former Steelcase CEO Jim Hackett will step in on an interim basis and did not answer questions and the school's press conference. Brandon had a difficult month. First, many felt the school mishandled quarterback Shane Morris' head injury. Then the school lowered season ticket prices for students starting in 2015. Finally, Brandon was found to have sent emails to fans who had complained about the quality of Michigan football, advising them to find a new team.

Alabama junior Amari Cooper remains the top WR prospect on Kevin Weidl and Steve Muench's board.

The duo, along with Todd McShay, make up Scouts Inc. Cooper "is catching the ball with more consistency this fall and has shown the top-end speed to exploit a seam and hit home after the catch," the team writes. Many are projecting Cooper as a possible top 10 selection, and some even prefer him over Sammy Watkins. We do not. In fact, we would not be surprised to see many evaluators rank receiver prospects ahead of Amari Cooper by the time the draft rolls around.

Louisville senior RB Michael Dyer rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries in the school's 42-31 loss to FSU.

Dyer posted a ton of production early in this game, displaying the similar ability to when he played for Auburn. The running back's college career has been a winding road, starting for Auburn as a freshman then transferring to Arkansas State, then finding himself out of FBS football before transferring to Louisville. Head coach Charlie Strong is no longer with the school, but Dyer is still emerging as Louisville's top rushing threat.

The NCAA has upheld Georgia junior RB Todd Gurley's suspension, meaning he can return on November 15 versus Auburn.

Gurley's suspension will last a total of four games. He has been practicing with the team and should be ready to fully contribute on November 15. He will miss the next two games against Kentucky and Missouri, and both schools should expect to see a lot of Nick Chubb.

Florida State redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston completed 25-of-48 passes for 401 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in a comeback win Thursday over Louisville.

Nobody said repeating as National Champions was going to be easy. Florida State trailed for the vast majority of the game and faced a 31-28 deficit with four minutes remaining, but scored two late touchdowns to fend off the Cardinals, who finished 0-for-10 on third downs. Winston played through a bum ankle, throwing a career-high three interceptions, though we don't suspect anybody will remember that. After an ugly first half (10-for-22 with zero touchdowns and two interceptions), Winston lit it up after emerging from the locker room to put the finishing touches on his second career 400-yard game, improving to 21-0 as a starter.

Louisville senior WR DeVante Parker had eight receptions for 214 yards in Thursday's 42-31 loss to Florida State.

Excuse NFL scouts for salivating. Against a talented secondary featuring potential first-round CB P.J. Williams, Parker thrived, averaging 26.8 yards per catch (including a 71-yard reception). He missed the first seven games of the season with a broken foot, but has made up for lost time immediately, hauling in 17 receptions for 346 yards (he had 55 receptions for 885 yards and a UL-record-tying 12 touchdowns last year). Boasting a 4.39 forty, a 10-foot, 10-inch broad jump, an 80-inch wingspan, and a ridiculous catch radius, the 6-foot-3, 208-pound Parker is a future first-rounder. Rotoworld ranks Parker as the No. 2 draft-eligible receiver, behind Oklahoma's Dorial Green-Beckham.

True freshman QB Kyle Allen will start for Texas A&M against Louisiana Monroe on Saturday, according to CBS DFW.

Allen's only attempted 38 passes on the season, but now-former starter Kenny Hill has struggled (six touchdowns, six interceptions over last three games) of late. Texas A&M is looking for anything that might give the team a spark. Allen was a top five-star recruit and is an athletic, pro-style quarterback. That upset win against South Carolina to open the season is looking further and further away as we enter November.
