Oklahoma senior RB Roy Finch "is expected to receive at least 10-12 touches per game," according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

We have long been fans of Finch's talent, but he wound up in the doghouse last season and only received nine offensive touches for the entire year. Nine. The Sooner running back is extremely quick thanks to his short and choppy steps, and Oklahoma would be wise to get him involved. However, many said the same prior to 2012, so we'll believe when we see it.

UCLA redshirt junior QB Brett Hundley has returned to practice, but HC Jim Mora has thus far refused to address his availability for Thursday's huge game against Arizona State.

Hundley suffered a "slight" hyper extension last Saturday against Texas and was forced out of the second half. "All of our players who are out, what we try to do is make the best decisions for them based upon the knowledge we have," Mora said. "We depend on our doctors to get us good information, and we got the best doctors in the nation in my opinion. If they clear him, and they say he can play, just like everyone else, then we’ll play him." Hundley is 57-of-81 for 686 yards with three touchdowns and one interception this year. If he can't go, the Bruins will turn to backup Jerry Neuheisel, who completed 23-of-30 passes for 178 yards with two touchdowns against the Longhorns.

Rutgers redshirt junior RB Paul James will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL against Navy over the weekend.

James, who came into the matchup No. 5 on the Big Ten’s rushing list, ends his 2014 campaign with 63 carries for 363 yards and five touchdowns. Before the helmet of a Navy defender struck James' knee and ended his season, the star running back had carried seven times for 96 yards and a touchdown. This is a devastating blow for both the school and player; Rutgers' loses its premier playmaker, while James' NFL dreams are now delayed for at least a year. James reminds CBS Sports' Dane Brugler of "a not-as-cut version of Chargers back Ryan Mathews." James led Rutgers with 881 yards a year ago, missing four games with a broken fibula.

Alabama redshirt senior QB Blake Sims said his shoulder is fine.

The 6-foot, 208-pounder left Saturday's game against Florida late in the third quarter after landing awkwardly on his right (throwing) shoulder. He returned at the beginning of the fourth quarter. "It’s very fine," Sims said. "Just a little bruised. I’m going to get with the training staff and try to get better and let the team know I’m good. I’m going to come out against Ole Miss (Oct. 4) and try to win the game. I’ll be all right. I’m going to get with the training staff and ice it, ice it, ice it." The Crimson Tide has a bye this week. "It will probably be something that’s sore for him for a while," said HC Nick Saban. "Hopefully that second week he’ll be able to get back to normal in practice."

Arizona redshirt senior WR Austin Hill hauled in a 47-yard hard Hail Mary from Anu Solomon as time expired to push Arizona to a 49-45 victory over Cal on Saturday night.

Arizona got whipped for most of the game. The Wildcats trailed 28-6 at halftime, and they were down 45-30 with four minutes left. That's when the school improbably scored three consecutive touchdowns, capped by Solomon's desperation heave into the right corner of the end zone that reached Hill's hands untouched. Hill, who suffered a torn ACL in the spring of 2013, finished with eight catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns.

Clemson true freshman QB Deshaun Watson will make his first career start against North Carolina on Saturday.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney announced the news on Sunday, belatedly conceding what had been clear for the past few weeks: The Tigers are far more dangerous with Watson at quarterback than Cole Stoudt. Watson came on in relief of Stoudt in Saturday's overtime loss to Florida State, completing 19-of-28 attempts for 266 yards, and rushing 12 times for 30 yards and a touchdown. Watson is 29-for-41 for 479 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions overall. He was graded as the No. 3 player in the nation by Tom Lemming coming out of high school.

Oregon redshirt junior QB Marcus Mariota completed 21 of 25 attempts for 329 yards and five interceptions in the school's 38-31 win over Washington State.

Mariota was sacked on seven occasions, only one of which appeared to take longer than 2.5 seconds. Oregon's make shift offensive line is a big issue, but Mariota is showing he has the talent to overcome it. The quarterback also rushed for 58 yards. Oregon faces Arizona after an off weekend.

Indiana junior RB Tevin Coleman rushed for 132 yards and a score on 19 carries in a 31-27 upset win over Missouri on Saturday.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Coleman averaged 7.3 yards per carry last season, and he's making a mockery of even that amazing number so far. He's up to 569 yards and six touchdowns on 66 carries (8.6 YPC) during Indiana's 2-1 start. NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks says that Coleman's "electric running skills" makes the Hoosiers' offense "a nightmare to defend." Indiana's defense might not stop anyone this year, but the offense can score with almost anyone.

Penn State sophomore QB Christian Hackenberg completed 12-of-23 attempts for 179 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in a 48-7 blowout win over UMass on Saturday.

This was the first game in the Nittany Lions' 4-0 start that Hackenberg hasn't exceeded 300 yards passing. Penn State, of course, didn't ask Hackenberg to do much in the easy win. During the week leading up to the game, Minutemen coach Mark Whipple said Hackenberg would be the No. 1 overall pick when he enters the draft: "He's going to be the first player picked. If he could come out this year, he'd be the first player picked," Whipple said.
Sep 20 - 9:56 PM

Alabama redshirt senior QB Blake Sims completed 23-of-33 passes for 445 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's win against Florida.

The 6-foot, 208-pounder left the game briefly in the third quarter due to a shoulder injury -- he was replaced by Jake Coker -- but he returned to continue carving up the Gators. After the game, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said his signal-caller bruised his shoulder. Luckily, Alabama has a bye next week. This game would have been far uglier for Florida, but the Crimson Tide committed 11 penalties for 80 yards, and had four turnovers that turned into all 21 UF points.
Sep 20 - 7:58 PM

Alabama junior WR Amari Cooper had 10 catches for 201 yards and three touchdowns in a 21-point win against Florida on Saturday.

Cooper had a pretty leaping grab in the end zone against stud Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves with 21 seconds left in the third quarter to give the Crimson Tide a 35-21 lead and essentially end the Gators' threat. On the play, he fought Hargreaves off with his hands before taking to the air, displaying two NFL traits against a fellow future pro. Cooper didn't get called for the penalty, but two of his other potential touchdown catches were called back on flags. The Cooper-Hargreaves matchup was everything scouts had hoped for, and draft analysts will be buzzing over it for at least the next week. If Cooper hadn't stamped his ticket into the first round before, he certainly has now. NFL.com's Albert Breer wrote earlier this week: "The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Cooper projects as a bigger, stronger Odell Beckham, and could be a top-15 draft pick."
Sep 20 - 7:46 PM

Wisconsin redshirt junior RB Melvin Gordon III rushed for 253 yards and five touchdowns on just 13 carries in the school's 68-17 win over Bowling Green.

Gordon III had been kept at bay this season due to facing a large volume of eight and nine man boxes, along with dealing with a minor hip injury. However, Rotoworld's Josh Norris had pointed out when Gordon saw open space he was still very effective. Gordon saw that space in this game, producing scoring runs of 21, 24, 50 and 69 yards. It is also worth pointing out that Gordon lost the first fumble of his career in this contest.
