Texas A&M redshirt sophomore QB Johnny Manziel told reporters he did not oversleep a meeting at the Manning Passing Academy due to drinking or a hangover.

Manziel simply said he was tired from a busy summer schedule and a dead phone battery caused his alarm to not go off. He even admitted to possibly having too much on his plate this season, and even though he was disappointed when leaving the camp, it was a "mutual decision." Manziel would not comment on the details, however, including if he drank alcohol the night before.

Georgia junior RB Nick Chubb (ankle) did not practice on Tuesday.

Chubb has not practiced since spraining his ankle in Saturday's loss to Ole Miss. HC Kirby Smart is hopeful that the 5-foot-10, 228-pound junior will be able to play against Tennessee this coming weekend. Sony Michel will receive the bulk of the work versus the Vols should this ankle injury keep Chubb out of action.

Charges against suspended LSU junior DL Davon Godchaux have been dropped.

Godchaux was arrested Monday on charges of false imprisonment, domestic abuse battery and child endangerment. In a statement, East Baton Rouge district attorney Hillar Moore said, "The primary basis for this change of booking was the inconsistent statements of [the victim], the statements of Mr. Godchaux and the physical evidence at the scene, and not her request to dismiss these charges." The 6-foot-4, 293-pound Godchaux remains indefinitely suspended for the time being.

In the wake of LSU's firing of Les Miles, Louisville HC Bobby Petrino said, "I'm not interested in going anywhere."

"I'm very fortunate to be the head coach here at the University of Louisville, very happy about that," Petrino said, "very glad I have the support of our athletic director Tom Jurich." He is one of a number of coaches who have immediately come out to deny interest in taking over for the Mad Hatter at LSU. Urban Meyer and David Shaw have also confirmed their respective commitments to Ohio State and Stanford, while FSU HC Jimbo Fisher and Houston HC Tom Herman both said that LSU has not contacted them. Ed Orgeron is currently serving as interim head coach.

While Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says redshirt sophomore QB DeShone Kizer will start against Syracuse, the coach indicated that Kizer's play was "below standard" and "not acceptable."

Kelly told the media that all positions would be evaluated following Saturday's loss to Duke, even opening up the possibility of playing third-string QB Brandon Wimbush. Yep, it's panic time for the 1-3 Irish. If Kelly is looking for another scapegoat, he ought to keep focusing on the defense. You can nitpick the turnovers if you like, but Kizer is a No. 1 overall draft prospect who has thrown for 1,096 yards and an 11/3 TD/INT rate on 62.1-percent completions and 9.45 yards per attempt with almost 200 yards rushing and four ground scores despite getting jerked around by Kelly and his staff. Put it this way: If Kizer is the problem, then there's no solution.

Western Michigan HC P.J. Fleck says Central Michigan senior QB Cooper Rush will "be an incredibly high draft pick."

"He’s an incredible leader," Fleck said. "He gets everybody in the right spot. You can see that everybody leans on him and that’s the definition of a true leader. Everybody looks to him to be his best all the time and he has been. He’s incredibly consistent. He's very accurate, has a big arm. He’s very, very smart and makes elite decisions and you can tell his leadership runs true through the entire football team." Rush ranks No. 8 in passing yards (1,359) and has completed 62.6 percent of his passes for a 9/4 TD/INT rate. The Chips get Fleck's Broncos this weekend.

USF redshirt sophomore QB Asiantii Woulard is no longer on the team.

A ballyhooed four-star recruit, Woulard flamed out at UCLA before doing the same at USF. A fractured foot had put him on the shelf early on. That injury allowed redshirt Brett Kean to steal Woulard's backup job, pushing Woulard out the door at his second school. If Woulard is close to graduating, he'd make an interesting transfer option for a Sun Belt or Conference USA team in need of immediate signal-calling help.

Interim LSU football coach Ed Orgeron made the call to fire OC Cam Cameron.

Orgeron replaced Les Miles on an interim basis after the latter was fired Sunday. He apparently chose to replace Cameron by moving Steve Ensminger -- formerly an offensive coordinator at Clemson, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State and Texas A&M -- from tight ends coach to offensive coordinator. Orgeron has indicated he wants to open the offense up, which is a sage inclination.

Central Michigan redshirt senior WR Jesse Kroll will miss the remainder of the 2016 season due to a knee injury.

Tough blow for the Chippewas, as Kroll exits for the year having caught 12 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown through four games. With the 6-foot-3, 214-pounder out of the picture, now, Corey Willis figures to receive extended work moving forward.

Iowa senior WR Matt VandeBerg has been ruled out indefinitely due to a broken foot.

VandeBerg suffered the broken foot during practice on Monday. Said HC Kirk Ferentz, "We know that Matt will work extremely hard to get back on the field as soon as possible." The 6-foot-1, 195-pound senior was working to a 19-284-3 receiving line through four games. It is not yet known just how long this broken hoof will sideline VandeBerg, but at the very least, he will not be playing against Northwestern this weekend.

Football Scoop's Scott Roussel is reporting that LSU is looking to swing for a big-name coaching replacement for the departed Les Miles.

No surprise here, as the Tigers have national title-level talent. Per Roussel, the program is putting together a search committee and they plan on "gaug[ing] the interest" of the likes of Alabama's Nick Saban, Ohio State's Urban Meyer, Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, FSU's Jimbo Fisher and Houston's Tom Herman. Roussel was told that "money will not be an issue here." It should be noted that Ed Orgeron is serving as interim head coach in the wake of Miles' departure and it is not outside of the realm of possibility that he could secure the job in the longer term.

Iowa senior WR Matt VandeBerg suffered a broken foot in practice on Monday.

Through four games Vandeberg is the school's leading receiver, catching 19 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns. Head coach Kirk Ferentz won't address the media until Tuesday, and we will learn more about VandeBerg then. Iowa's schedule has been quite easy, even when factoring in a loss to North Dakota State, and doesn't ramp up until Wisconsin on October 22.
