Former NFL scout John Middlekauff says there is "no doubt" that UCLA senior OLB Anthony Barr is the second best defensive prospect in the country behind DE Jadeveon Clowney.

Middlekauff added Barr mentioned he has gained 20 pounds of muscle since last season. "I think when scouts see him he will have the BYU Ziggy Ansah "WOW" factor physically," Middlekauff added. "Barr is a player you text your college director or GM immediately when you see in person... Barr just looks like a top 5 pick walking through the door which is valued in the NFL." Expect the edge rusher to only improve during his second season at the position.

Washington LB Shaq Thompson is scheduled to visit the Vikings, according to Darren Wolfson.

This connection makes a lot of sense. In fact, we might narrow the Vikings' first-round selection down to linebacker or cornerback. Thompson surprisingly tested like an average athlete for the position at the Combine, but he is very fluid on the field and will stay in games for all three downs. Mike Zimmer found his strong side backer who can blitz in Anthony Barr last year. Thompson could fill the weakside spot and be a missile from the back side.

Louisville WR DeVante Parker will visit the Ravens prior to the draft, according to Aaron Wilson.

Wilson confirms visits to the Dolphins and Titans. Visits means different things for different teams, but the Ravens certainly are focusing on prospects projected to be earlier than the No. 26 pick. The teams has an obvious need at receiver, and Parker has flashed ability to win in both the big and small games.

Utah DB Eric Rowe "is flying up draft boards and most feel there's no way he gets out of the second round," reports TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.

Last week, Pauline reported Rowe had visits scheduled with the Dolphins, Ravens and Lions, and now he passes along that the Philadelphia Eagles "are very high on Rowe, who's drawing intrigue based on his size/speed and ability to line-up at either cornerback or safety." The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Rowe ran a 4.45 40 at the combine.

Utah edge rusher Nate Orchard has met with the Browns, Colts and Vikings over the past few days, reports TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.

Per the analyst, the Browns project Orchard to linebacker and the Colts project him to defensive end. The defensive end hoisted up 23 reps on the bench and "looked terrific in position drills" at his pro day event, wrote Pauline. At the combine, Orchard logged a mediocre 31.5-inch vertical jump and 4.80 second 40-yard dash. He didn't bench due to a shoulder injury. The breakout star recorded 84 tackles, 21.5 TFL and 18.5 sacks last season after posting only three sacks in 2013.

UCLA LB Eric Kendricks will visit the Cowboys on April 6, according to Dane Brugler.

Kendricks is an absolute stud, but the Cowboys might not be the first due to their attachment to Sean lee and Anthony Hitchens. Kendricks is aggressive when moving forward to make the tackle, but he is also comfortable and aware in space. He is a three down linebacker, which is tough to find.

Draft insider Tony Pauline reports Rice CB Bryce Callahan will visit the Bucs, Browns, Titans and Chargers.

Callahan posted a very good pro day workout, running a 4.32 in the 40 and jumping 43.5 inches in the vertical and 11 feet in the broad jump. An East West Shrine attendee, Callahan could be a name who receives more attention in the next month.

Baylor QB Bryce Petty and Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson are second-round picks, according to ESPN's Mel Kiper.

Kiper made the statement on a Thursday conference call, adding the two are competing to be the third quarterback selected. We are shocked it has come to this. Petty is an athletic passer who likes to throw downfield, but that does not mean he is good at it. He did not show the skills to overcome pressure or display comfort when throwing to covered receivers. Grayson has worked through simplified progression and is comfortable inside of structure, but he is limited. Neither should be drafted before the third day.

The Cowboys will put Georgia WR Chris Conley and QB Hutson Mason through a private workout this week.

Conley was one of the best performers at the NFL Combine so expect a number of teams to give him a second look in the next month due to Georgia's run first offense. Mason is likely an undrafted free agent, but some evaluators have praised his willingness to stick to the pocket and throw to contested receivers.

UCF WR Breshad Perriman recorded a drop rate of 14 percent during the 2014 season, according to College Football Focus.

Drops are always subjective, but PFF sides on the receiver's side when charting NFL games. As does Rotoworld's Greg Peshek. To come up with the figure, CFF added catches (50) plus drops (8) to find the catchable passes number. Perriman posted a blazing forty time and did his best work on vertical routes. Poor dropped rates carried over from the 2013 season to rookie's first NFL seasons last year. Josh Norris recently mocked Perriman to the Browns at No. 19.

West Virginia's Kevin White is not a lock to be the first or second WR selected, according to NFL Media's Charles Davis.

In trying to come up with reasons why this might be possible, the only one we can come up with is the "one year wonder" label. Davis' statement stood on its own without reasoning, but it was likely a "bold prediction" type question. We guess many teams will look at White and see a receiver who has the potential to win in both the big and small receiver games. That is difficult to find.

Nebraska EDGE Randy Gregory visited the Panthers last week, according to Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport adds Gregory is "unlikely" to make it to pick No. 25, but that was before Gregory revealed he failed the Combine's drug test. Some prospects have "dropped" partially due to a failed test, but it is really impossible to pinpoint where Gregory will be selected this April/May. He has now visited the Panthers and Ravens, who own picks 25 and 26 respectively.
