LSU sophomore RB Jeremy Hill will meet with a judge on Monday regarding his offseason battery charge.

Hill could learn during the meeting whether he'll remain on probation under terms allowing him to play football, according to beat writer Jim Kleinpeter. "The purpose of Monday's hearing is for (District Judge) Jackson to review more restrictive terms she attached to Hill's probation -- including a curfew and bar ban -- in May," Kleinpeter writes. There is plenty more court room vocabulary in the link below, but Hill's team appears to be speeding the process up.

LSU junior RB Leonard Fournette wants to play in the school's bowl game despite dealing with the nagging ankle injury that has sidelined him for four games.

Head coach Ed Orgeron said Fournette has been in every team meeting, wanting to get on the field. Orgeron considers the star running back day-to-day for the bowl game against Louisville. This will be Fournette's last collegiate contest.

Cincinnati beat writer Tom Groeschen reports ex-Texas HC Charlie Strong, WMU HC P.J. Fleck and WKU HC Jeff Brohm are the top three choices for the Bearcats coaching vacancy.

We can already envision the universal love Cincinnati would receive if the school hired Strong. This is the first time we've seen the former Longhorn coach's name among possible schools. Fleck and Brohm have been listed with many other programs, including Purdue, Oregon, Baylor, Houston and others. Strong already recruited in the area while coaching at Louisville. Tommy Tuberville stepped down as coach this weekend.

Alabama graduate QB Cooper Bateman will transfer.

At this time, it's not certain that Bateman will be with Alabama through its run in the College Football Playoff. Bateman started out the summer as the team's No. 1 QB, but he was quickly shoved aside in favor of Jalen Hurts and Blake Barnett. Hurts has three more seasons of eligibility, which is why both Barnett and Bateman are looking for new schools at the moment. Bateman completed 12-of-14 attempts for 119 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions at Alabama.

Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Washington were selected into the College Football Playoff.

The No. 1 Crimson Tide will face the No. 4 Huskies in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 31. On the same day, the No. 2 Tigers will take on the No. 3 Buckeyes in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. This year's spurned party is No. 5 Penn State, the Big Ten champion who beat Wisconsin 38-31 on Saturday and had a victory over Ohio State earlier this season. Michigan finished No. 6. This will be Alabama's third straight Playoff appearance, Clemson and Ohio State's second straight, and Washington's first.

ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reports that Western Kentucky's Jeff Brohm is expected to be the leading candidate to land the Cincinnati head coaching opening.

Rittenberg notes that Cincy will have to fend off two Power 5 schools, Purdue and Baylor, for Brohm's services -- assuming the coach decides to relocate at all (he could have last winter and didn't). Rittenberg goes on to write that Air Force coach Troy Calhoun and Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell are also candidates for the Bearcats, while Buckeyes assistant Kerry Coombs "could get a look as he has extensive roots in the Cincinnati area."

Alabama OC Lane Kiffin will stay at the school through the Playoffs.

"People talk about next year," he said, "but we have a lot of work to do." Kiffin is reportedly a prime candidate for openings as Houston's head coach and LSU's offensive coordinator. ESPN's Brett McMurphy previously reported that Kiffin will interview on Sunday for the Cougars' head-coaching vacancy. Last week, HC Nick Saban told the media that Kiffin was "absolutely" ready to be a head coach again. "Those are signs of tremendous maturity as a coach who is not just committed to a system but is committed to doing things that he has to help players be successful," Saban said. "I think he's proven when he was a head coach he had a reasonably good amount of success -- much more than I think he gets credit for -- and he's done a phenomenal job in the three years he's been with us."

ESPN reports that 5-7 Mississippi State will play Miami (Ohio) in the St. Petersburg Bowl.

The Bulldogs (5-7), one of three sub-six-win teams granted bowl eligibility based on its Academic Progress Rate rankings, was the last of 80 teams to earn a bowl berth, per the report. Most bowl bids have not yet been announced. We'll receive the dance card on Sunday afternoon.

Tommy Tuberville stepped down as Cincinnati's head coach.

The Bearcats had back-to-back nine-win seasons in 2013 and 2014 but fell off a bit in 2015 and then went 4-8 this season, winning just one American Athletic Conference game. Tuberville had an 85-40 record (52-30 SEC) at Auburn from 1999-2008. Football Scoop is reporting that Western Michigan's P.J. Fleck and Troy's Neal Brown are possible candidates for the Cincinnati job. We're big fans of both.

Clemson junior QB Deshaun Watson completed 23-of-34 passes for 288 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 42-35 win over Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game.

In a rare change of pace, Watson also chipped in with 85 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns. His ground statistics have been noticeably muted for most of the season. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Heisman candidate entered Saturday's game with just 439 yards rushing and four scores over the course of 12 contests completed, this after he gouged opposing defenses for 1,105 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in 15 games a year ago. With his five total touchdowns on Saturday, Watson has now accounted for 43 of them. He figures to have a busy month ahead of him, with a potential Heisman trip to New York and a Playoff showing at the end of December. And then, no rest for the weary, it will be on to draft preparation for the star quarterback.
Dec 4 - 12:31 AM

Wisconsin senior RB Corey Clement rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in Saturday's 38-31 loss to Penn State in the Big Ten Championship Game.

While Clement put forth several impressive runs -- including a 67-yard scoring run around the left edge in the first quarter -- he will be haunted by one play late. With Wisconsin down seven and facing a fourth-and-short late in the fourth quarter, the 5-foot-11, 227-pound senior took the carry and tried to find wiggle room for the necessary gain. It was not to be, though, as Penn State played his dive perfectly and held him short of the line to gain. The Nittany Lions proceeded to run out the clock. This loss unofficially knocks Wisconsin out of Playoff contention.
Dec 4 - 12:20 AM

Penn State redshirt sophomore QB Trace McSorley was brilliant in Saturday's 38-31 win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game, throwing for 384 yards and four touchdowns.

McSorley was nothing short of phenomenal in this one, helping the Nittany Lions to withstand an early flurry of punches from the Badgers via a monster comeback from down 28-7 midway through the second quarter. The 6-foot, 195-pounder showed beautiful touch and placement on multiple passes, including a 70-yard scoring toss to Saeed Blacknall early in the third quarter. McSorley averaged a stellar 12.3 YPA in the win. His performance on Saturday boosted him to single-season school records for both passing yardage (3,360 yards) and passing touchdowns (25).
