Ohio State redshirt junior CB Bradley Roby's misdemeanor charge has been reduced to an offense for disorderly conduct.

Head coach Urban Meyer had not announced any official discipline for the star cornerback, and there is now a chance he avoids a game related suspension. Roby considered entering the 2013 NFL Draft and will likely build on his game this season. Don't be surprised if he is mentioned among the top 15 prospects in the country during the draft process.

Oklahoma redshirt sophomore WR Dorial Green-Beckham's appeal for immediate eligibility has been denied.

The school released the news via twitter, adding it accepts the decision. Green-Beckham transferred from Missouri this offseason, following a recent off-field issue. The Sooner prospect applied for a waiver appeal from the NCAA almost two weeks ago, but with the recent denial, it's possible he could enter the 2015 draft. In fact, we expect him to leave Oklahoma without playing a down for the team. He will be allowed to practice with the Sooners all season.

Texas HC Charlie Strong told reporters redshirt junior QB David Ash has looked "unbelievable" during preseason camp.

There was a point when many thought Ash might not play another snap of football due to multiple head injuries. The biggest question is Strong previously stated he would not allow Ash to take a hit prior to the season, so we will see how the quarterback reacts to that first contact. Ash is locked in as the team's starting quarterback.

Oklahoma senior TE Blake Bell is taking some snaps at QB again after backup Cody Thomas has missed time with an injury, according to beat writer Jason Kersey.

"...Thomas has been injured, which is why Bell has split second-team reps this week with true freshman Justice Hansen," Kersey reported. The last blurb under Bell's name reads "Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops reiterated that under no circumstances will senior TE Blake Bell be moved back to QB," so even though this might not be a permanent move, Bell is certainly taking some limited snaps at his former position. Bell has drawn praise at tight end throughout camp, however.

Pittsburgh named redshirt sophomore Chad Voytik starting quarterback.

No surprise here. The former top recruit -- the No. 4 pro-style QB coming out of high school -- beat out senior Trey Anderson to replace Tom Savage. In 2012, Voytik redshirted behind Tino Sunseri (this is the third straight year the Panthers will break in a new starting QB). Voytik had a star turn in last season's Little Caesars Bowl win over Bowling Green, throwing for 108 yards on nine attempts and rushing for a touchdown while coming on in relief of an injured Savage.

Michigan State junior QB Connor Cook was not named one of the school's three captains.

Senior safety Kurtis Drummond, junior edge rusher Shilique Calhoun and senior offensive lineman Travis Jackson were named the three captains. Beat writer Joe Rexrode calls the outcome "somewhat surprising, not shocking." 2014 was Cook's first year as a starter. He displayed plenty of upside, but development in the form of poised pocket would be nice to see.

Florida senior S Jabari Gorman said senior QB Jeff Driskel has not thrown an interception during training camp.

This might be the shock of the summer. Driskel was a highly touted recruit and continues to earn buzz because of his frame and arm, but we believe he consistently makes poor decisions while pressured. Poised pocket movement is just not there, but hopefully Driskel has taken a step forward as this news indicates.

Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay ranks Wisconsin redshirt junior RB Melvin Gordon III over Georgia junior Todd Gurley.

The Wisconsin running back "is a home run hitter with very good acceleration and top-end speed, with the ability to make defenders miss both in the hole and in space," McShay writes. Gordon III was given a grade of 89 and Gurley was tagged with an 85. A third member of the SEC, Alabama junior TJ Yeldon, was given an 84. South Carolina's Mike Davis (80) and Duke Johnson of Miami (73) round out the top five.

Texas HC Charlie Strong told reporters sophomore QB Tyrone Swoopes "is the clear No. 2 quarterback."

David Ash is entrenched as the starter, but as we've seen there is no lock for him to play in every game. Swoopes only played in five games last season and completed five of 13 attempts for 26 yards, adding 79 rushing yards and a touchdown. He could grab the starting job in 2015.

Florida State HC Jimbo Fisher said senior Christian Green will likely start at WR opposite Rashad Greene.

Fisher also "made it clear he sees viable options in the underclassmen," according to ESPN's Jared Shanker. The beat writer adds sophomores Levonte Whitfield and Jesus Wilson are the most likely slot options, however, the latter still has work to do to get out of the doghouse. We think Greene works best from the slot, but his reps there might diminish during his final season. Expect him to rotate into the slot regardless.

The Senior Bowl has released their watch list of over 350 prospects for 2015's event.

The usual (senior) prospects are obviously included, but we are more interested in the redshirt juniors who are mentioned on the list. Phil Savage, the event's executive director, was able to alter the rules of players eligible for the Senior Bowl, allowing fourth year juniors that will graduate by December to qualify. Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and UCLA Brett Hundley are two listed.

Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman tabbed Texas Tech sophomore QB Davis Webb as the Big 12's breakout player of the year.

"Don’t be surprised if Webb makes it to NYC as a Heisman finalist in the next two seasons," Feldman begins. "Kingsbury says Webb has the strongest arm of any QB to come through Tech, and he’s also extremely cerebral and determined." Webb was part of Texas Tech's quarterback carousel last year, but started the majority of games. he completed nearly 63 percent of his passes for 2,718 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
