Minnesota sophomore WR Andre McDonald was suspended for the season by coach Jerry Kill on Tuesday for a violation of team rules.

"Right now, he's not going to play for us this semester," Kill said. "That's all I'm going to say on that." Well, okay then. McDonald and Kill are starting to appear like star-crossed lovers in a demented Rom Com. McDonald, a high-profile local recruit from Hopkins, started Week 1 last year and then hit the shelf with injuries. Kill suspended him for the team's bowl game and McDonald responded by leaving the school in the spring for personal reasons. Kill reinstated McDonald in July. The wide receiver made it two weeks before Kill (excuse the pun) killed his season and removed him from the roster. At this point, it seems clear that McDonald has no future at Minnesota.

Utah State dismissed redshirt junior G Tyshon Mosley.

The Aggies wouldn't say why, outside of a violation of unspecified team rules. This isn't the first time that Mosley has gotten in trouble. He lost the first two games of last season to suspension, for instance. His latest indescretion leaves Utah State minus a starting, All-Mountain West Conference-caliber guard.

49ers signed Oregon DT Alex Balducci.

Balducci, 2014 first-rounder Arik Armstead and 2015 first-rounder DeForest Buckner all played on the same defensive line at Oregon. Balducci (6'4/309) made 29 starts at defensive tackle for the Ducks, finishing his career with 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He was selected honorable mention All-Pac 12 as a senior. Balducci showed passable athleticism for his size at Oregon's Pro Day, running 5.01 with a 9-foot-5 broad jump and 33-inch vertical. In the NFL, Balducci best projects as a rotational early-down run stopper.

Thirty players who declared for the 2016 NFL Draft early went undrafted.

In the end, 107 players left college with remaining eligibility, with 28-percent of them ultimately going undrafted. That list is headlined by names like DL Darius Latham, S Tyvis Powell, RB Peyton Barber and WRs Roger Lewis, Marquez North, Jalin Marshall and De’Runnya Wilson. Some players were running from disciplinary or academic issues, while some just badly misjudged their value.

AL.com's Matt Zenitz reports that former Alabama DL coach Bo Davis is being investigated by the NCAA for impermissible contact with recruits.

Davis tendered his resignation on Friday. There were rumors of possible recruiting violations in the air and those rumors took on extra heft with AL.com's report. Per Zenitz, "Davis is accused of visiting multiple out-of-state recruits during a period when coaches aren't allowed any contact with recruits." He went on to write that none of the recruits in question ultimately signed with Alabama. The NCAA got in touch with Bama's compliance office and spoke with Davis regarding these allegations -- Zenitz hears that they caught him being dishonest -- after which he resigned.

Four-star QB Lowell Narcisse committed to LSU for 2017.

Whether HC Les Miles is even around to see Narcisse join the Tigers is a story for another day, but at least for now, he can rest contented with the knowledge that he landed a stud quarterback commitment. The 6-foot-3, 224-pounder announced his decision via Twitter and thanked the other programs that had danced with him. Among those, heavy hitters in Alabama and Auburn. ESPN 300 ranks him as their No. 38 overall prospect and No. 1 dual-threat QB for the 2017 cycle.

Pro Football Focus believes that the Bears' selection of Florida DE Jonathan Bullard was the best pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The context here is key. As analyst Gordon McGuinness noted, "To find a defensive lineman with Bullard’s upside in the third round [at pick No. 72] is ridiculous value." He went on to write that "Bullard isn’t even a high-risk, high-reward type player. His run-stopping ability will most certainly translate to the NFL after he led all of college with a +51.5 run defense grade a year ago." McGuinness and the fine folks at PFF are less certain as to Bullard's potential NFL success against the pass.

ECU graduate QB Kurt Benkert will transfer to Virginia.

Because he will be transferring as a graduate, Benkert will be eligible to play immediately. He announced his decision via Twitter, writing, "I'm ready for the next chapter, it's going to be a great [two] years!" The 6-foot-3, 225-pound gunslinger did not play in 2015 due to a knee injury. One possible reason for the transfer to Virginia, specifically -- former ECU HC Ruffin McNeill (who was fired at the end of the 2015 campaign) was hired as an assistant with the Cavaliers earlier this offseason.

Auburn sophomores CB Carlton Davis III, DE Byron Cowart, CB Jeremiah Dinson and WR Ryan Davis were arrested and charged with second-degree misdemeanor marijuana-possession on Saturday night.

Ole Miss wasn't the only SEC school taking heat over the weekend. "I'm aware of the situation and we will handle the matter appropriately," Tigers HC Gus Malzahn said in a statement. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Davis was a freshman All-American last season after posting 56 tackles and three interceptions. Cowart was the No. 1 overall prospect in last year's recruiting class, though he only posted six tackles as a reserve defensive lineman in 2015. Dinson and Davis were both early contributors -- Dinson more so before he tore knee ligaments in his right knee nine games into the season -- expected to take on more playing time in 2016.

Patriots signed Mississippi State WR/TE De’Runnya Wilson.

Wilson (6'5/224) made 24 starts for the Bulldogs before turning pro, parlaying 133 career catches into 1,949 yards (14.7 YPR) and 22 TDs. He earned second-team All-SEC as a 2015 junior. Despite doubling as a basketball player at Mississippi State, Wilson proceeded to flunk the Combine, running 4.85 with a 28-inch vertical. Wilson also made poor use of his size in college, underwhelming in contested-catch situations. Optimists have compared Wilson to Plaxico Burress, but his skill set is more along the lines of Ramses Barden. He's a long shot.
May 2 - 5:36 PM

Jets signed Temple WR Robby Anderson.

Anderson (6'3/187) opened his college career as a special teamer and defensive back before converting to wideout, where he led the Owls in catches (70), yards (939), and touchdowns (7) as a senior. Snubbed for a Combine invite, Anderson showed explosive athleticism at Temple's Pro Day, blazing 4.36 with a 10-foot-8 broad jump. During the pre-draft phase, some scouts viewed cornerback as Anderson's best NFL position due to his small hands (8 3/8") and rangy frame. Ultimately, Anderson is a multi-year project with some developmental upside.

Oregon QB Vernon Adams will attend the Seahawks' rookie minicamp next week.

Adams surprisingly didn't get any UDFA offers. He'll attempt to parlay a tryout with Seattle into a contract. The Seahawks have also added TCU's Trevone Boykin to their quarterback mix behind Russell Wilson.
