Penn State junior WR Allen Robinson caught seven passes for 129 yards and a touchdown against Eastern Michigan.

Robinson is one of the top receiver talents in the country and has a young, but talented, passer throwing to him in Christian Hackenberg. The junior boasts great size and can separate at the catch point. Expect big numbers all season.

Former Texas and Arizona State position coach Jay Norvell will be the new head coach at Nevada, according to Football Scoop.

Norvell departed Texas prior to the season and joined Arizona State for one year. This is Norvell's first head coaching job at any level, but he has a wealth of offensive experience at big time college programs and in the NFL. Brian Polian went 23-27 in four seasons at Nevada.

USA Today's Dan Wolken reports Alabama OC Lane Kiffin will be Houston's next head coach, pending "pending a Thursday meeting at which school President Renu Khator will have to give the final OK."

As you all know, Tom Herman left for Texas. Kiffin was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2007-2008, Tennessee in 2009 and coached USC from 2010-2013 before being fired mid-season at the airport. Since then, Kiffin has been an outstanding coordinator at Alabama, taking the Crimson Tide's offense to the next level and at times matching the school's historic defense. Houston has been an offensive minded team in the past, but their best player is freshman defensive lineman Ed Oliver. Kiffin, at the very least, can keep Houston at the level they currently sit. Beat writer Joseph Duarte disputes Houston has made its decision at this time.

Alabama redshirt sophomore David Cornwell will transfer.

Prior to last season, both ESPN and the Alabama-centric AL.com predicted that Cornwell would beat out Jake Coker to start for the Tide. That didn't happen, and Cornwell subsequently tumbled down the depth chart. Having already graduated from Alabama as a third-year soph, Cornwell is eligible to play immediately wherever he goes and has two years of eligibility remaining. A four-star 2014 recruit, Cornwell was ranked as the No. 4 pro-style QB in the country. Cornwell is the third Tide quarterback to transfer over the past few weeks, following Blake Barnett (committed to play at Arizona State) and Cooper Bateman (undecided). Last December, Tide QB Alec Morris transferred to North Texas. Looks like it's time for Nick Saban to go shopping for a few Jalen Hurts backups.

Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey confirmed that he will enter the 2017 NFL draft.

McCaffrey announced the news Wednesday on Twitter. McCaffrey wrote in a follow-up news release that "there's nothing more I can put on film," and we tend to agree. He shattered Barry Sanders' NCAA single-season record for all-purpose yardage in 2015 with 3,864 yards, winning the AP National Player of the Year award and finishing second in the Heisman Trophy race behind Alabama's Derrick Henry. C-Mac battled through injuries in 2016 but still put up 2,327 all-purpose yards, leading the country with 211.55 all-purpose yards per game. Despite Stanford's offense regressing and his aforementioned health issues, McCaffrey's ypc average actually jumped from 6.0 in 2015 to 6.3 this season. McCaffrey is the No. 28 overall prospect, according to Todd McShay.

Ole Miss redshirt senior QB Chad Kelly (knee) accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Unfortunately, Kelly will be a bystander, unable to participate in practices or play in the game due to a torn ACL and lateral meniscus. The silver lining is that he can rub elbows with evaluators. Across nine games this year, Kelly threw for 2,758 yards and 19 touchdowns. Fully healthy last season, he threw for 4,042 yards.

USF HC Willie Taggart will be Oregon's next head coach, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

Taggart's name popped on occasion, but some reports gave him no chance of landing this position. Oregon decision makers disagreed, and Taggart was hired over names like P.J. Fleck. Taggart played football at WKU and coached there from 2010-2012 before taking the USF job in 2013 in his home state of Florida. His team is 17-4 over the last 21 games. Taggart has shown a willingness to change styles, as he fired offensive and defensive coordinators after a slow start at USF, something many coaches struggle with. This is the first external hire at Oregon in a very long time.

Clemson junior QB Deshaun Watson was named the winner of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

The Golden Arm is handed out annually to the top senior or junior quarterback (on track to graduate with his class) in the country. Watson earns the honor on the strength of 3,914 yards passing (67.6% completions) and a 37/15 TD/INT ratio over the course of 13 contests completed. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder will also be attending Heisman proceedings in New York on Saturday, though Louisville QB Lamar Jackson may already be setting up camp in the Heisman House at this juncture.

Tennessee received a verbal commitment from five-star 2017 T Trey Smith.

The Volunteers might have disappointed with an 8-4 2016 campaign, but that was apparently not enough to sway Smith from making a commitment to Tennessee. This is a monster pledge. The 6-foot-6, 299-pounder ranks as ESPN 300's No. 1 overall prospect for the 2017 cycle. Ole Miss, Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Ohio State were also in the running for his commitment. Scout.com notes that Smith "has a great frame with good feet, flexibility, and the ability to be one who protects the quarterback and opens holes for running backs." The outlet calls him a "finisher."

CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd hears that Oklahoma OC Lincoln Riley "killed it" during his interview for Houston's head-coaching position.

A plugged-in source had nothing but a glowing review for Riley's interview performance, telling Dodd, "I would be surprised if they don't hire him." Having spent eight years at Texas Tech, Riley already has the requisite roots in the state. Current Cougars coordinators Major Applewhite and Todd Orlando have also reportedly drawn interviews, as well as former LSU HC Les Miles and Alabama OC Lane Kiffin. Expect an official decision on Houston's Tom Herman replacement by the end of the week.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller reports that Stanford junior RB Christian McCaffrey will declare for the 2017 NFL Draft.

No huge surprise there. McCaffrey was limited by injury during the middle of the 2016, missing one contest due to the undisclosed ailment, but has bounced back to end the regular-season campaign in high style. The 6-foot, 202-pounder ripped Rice and Cal for back-to-back 200-yard efforts in Stanford's final two games to conclude a stretch of five consecutive contests in which he rushed for at least 135 yards. McCaffrey's 211.55 all-purpose yards per game mark is the best in the country, while his 1,596 rushing yards are the most by a back in the Pac-12. He will have a chance to make one final game-impression on the scouting community when Stanford plays North Carolina in the Sun Bowl on December 30.
Dec 6 - 3:01 PM

ESPN's Sam Khan Jr. reports that Houston has interviewed Alabama OC Lane Kiffin, former LSU HC Les Miles, OC Major Applewhite and DC Todd Orlando for their open head-coaching position.

Per Khan, Houston is expected to make their hire to replace the departed Tom Herman by the end of the week. ESPN's Brett McMurphy previously reported that former Baylor HC Art Briles has also received an interview. Should Kiffin come away with the gig -- Nick Saban is said to be in support of him taking the job -- he is still expected to patrol the Bama sideline during their Playoff-run-to-be.
