TCU head coach Gary Patterson would not say if sophomore DE Devonte Fields will play against SMU.

Fields is dealing with a foot injury. The stud sophomore missed time due to suspension earlier in the season, so hopefully this injury doesn't slow him down too much. Keep in mind that Patterson does not usually comment on injuries, so his curtness on Fields' status is nothing new.

Penn State junior RB Saquon Barkley was compared to David Johnson, Corey Dillon and Ezekiel Elliott by NFL executives.

"Both of these guys are such complete, 3-down backs. Barkley's lower-body strength and explosiveness are pretty tough to match, though," the executive who drew the David Johnson comparison said. Johnson is such a unique player thanks to his legitimate receiving ability, and Barkley is showing a similar talent thanks to 59 receptions in three seasons plus outstanding skills in open space. Barkley might top some evaluators' prospect rankings this spring.

Ball State senior DE Anthony Winbush leads the FBS in sacks with 6.5.

Winbush has six individual and one assisted sack. Winbush is on a torrid pace, especially compared to his previous two seasons. In 2015 Winbush led the team with five sacks, and followed it up with another team leading season in 2016 with 8.5 sacks.

Miami sophomore WR Ahmmon Richards (hamstring) is questionable for Saturday's game against Toledo.

Richards initially injured his hamstring at the end of August camp and subsequently sat out the team's season-opening win over Bethune-Cookman. While Miami has not played since September 2 due to a Hurricane Irma-fueled cancellation and a scheduled bye week, Richards has still not healed up fully. Should he be unable to play on Saturday, Lawrence Cager would draw a second start at X-receiver. We'll continue to monitor his progress over the remainder of the practice week.

Oklahoma approved HC Lincoln Riley's five-year contract.

Riley will be paid a base salary of $3.1 million annually, with that number to see $200,000 bumps each year. The contract comes with plenty of goodies in the form incentives, too, including $125,000 if the Sooners win a game in the CFB Playoff and $250,000 if Oklahoma wins the title. Less standard incentives include 25 hours of private airplane privileges and membership to two private golf clubs.

Middle Tennessee redshirt junior QB Brent Stockstill revealed after Saturday's loss to Minnesota that he had a cracked sternum and a separated collarbone.

Stockstill sat against the Gophers on Saturday due to these injury concerns. We aren't getting much from HC Rick Stockstill as to his quarterback's return timetable, unfortunately, with the coach saying only that his son was "questionable" for Saturday's game against Bowling Green. Realistically, it would be a major surprise if the redshirt junior is able to play this coming weekend. John Urzua will almost certainly serve as starter against the Falcons.

Old Dominion senior RB Ray Lawry is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a torn hamstring.

Lawry (5'10/204) struggled with a hamstring injury at the end of preseason camp, took five carries in the opener and has not played since. Turns out this was not just a run-of-the-mill hamstring strain or tweak, as -- barring a rapid comeback -- it looks as though the senior back has been lost for the season. It's a brutal blow for the Monarchs given that Lawry rushed for 1,255 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. Jeremy Cox is expected to work as starter for the remainder of the campaign.

LSU junior RB Derrius Guice (undisclosed) did not practice on Tuesday.

Guice sat out practice on Monday, too, due to what HC Ed Orgeron has termed a "minor injury." Orgeron indicated that the star junior's sitting is a precautionary move and that he believes the running back is "going to be fine." Barring a setback during the conference week, Guice should be able to play against Syracuse this weekend.
Sep 19 - 6:34 PM

Baylor sophomore CB Grayland Arnold (arm) will be available for Saturday's game against Oklahoma.

Arnold sustained a broken arm near the end of preseason camp, an injury which required surgery to repair. At the time, he was given a 6-8 timetable for recovery. The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder healed up much faster than expected. Playing as a true freshman last season, he registered 20 tackles (2.0 for loss) and four pass breakups. Blake Lynch and Harrison Hand have seen increased snaps in his place, but Arnold is expected to slide in as starter now that he has been medically cleared for action.
Sep 19 - 5:30 PM

Baylor redshirt junior RB Terence Williams (shoulder) will return against Oklahoma on Saturday.

Williams ended up returning on the short-end of his three-game minimum timeline following offseason shoulder surgery. The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder rushed for 1,048 yards and 11 touchdowns last year. He'll be the focal point of offense until JaMycal Hasty returns (if not beyond). "Terence will get the lion’s share of the carries," Rhule said of Saturday's game.

The Read Optional cites an unnamed lawyer representing one of Florida's players in reporting that junior WR Antonio Callaway, redshirt freshman DE Jordan Smith and one other unnamed player are "likely to be arrested on charges of felony grand theft."

Not only that, but, per the website, there's a "possibility of further misdemeanor charges being tagged on." Callaway, Smith and the unnamed third player are three of the nine Gator football players under indefinite suspension for making improper charges on their student debit cards and then selling those items for cash. The players, according to the Read Optional, claim that the debit cards were stolen. Charges against the three are expected to be filed later this week or next week, while the other six are expected to be arrested as well.
Sep 19 - 3:23 PM

Oregon HC Willie Taggart is hopeful that senior WR Charles Nelson (lower-leg) can return for Saturday's game against Arizona State.

"Hopefully he’ll be back here soon and be ready to go," Taggart said. Nelson was carted off the field with the injury against Wyoming on Saturday. Nelson leads the team with 15 catches for 243 yards. He's also run for a score.
