Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald announced that senior RB Venric Mark (ankle) will miss Saturday's game against Iowa.

Senior QB Kain Colter, meanwhile, is listed as day-to-day with a sprained ankle that caused him to miss last weekend's loss to Minnesota. Mark has already missed four games with his injury. Beat writer Teddy Green Stein wrote last week that there is some concern that Mark has a fracture in his left leg. The Wildcats are currently embroiled in a three-game losing streak.

NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein compares Texas RB D’Onta Foreman to Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart.

A true junior, Foreman has announced that he will declare for the upcoming NFL Draft. "Foreman is way bigger than people realize. He has elite size almost to the point where he might need to lose weight to maintain his quickness at the next level," said Zierlein. "Good vision. Quick feet. Proved he can handle being an every-down back this year. His workload this season might be cause for some concern, but it hasn't been an issue until this year." The 6-foot-1, 250-pound Foreman leads the FBS in both carries (323) and rushing yards (2,208).

NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein compares Clemson senior WR Mike Williams to ex-Giants star WR Plaxico Burress.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Williams is slightly smaller than the 6-foot-5, 231-pound Burress coming out of college, but he plays the same physical game and may be able to run a little better than the high 4.5-second range that Burress logged. "What Burress lacked in speed, he made up for with his ability to pluck the ball out of the air," Zierlein wrote. "Burress was mostly a two-level wide receiver and that should end up being the case with Williams as well. Additional play strength was a need for both guys, as prospects, but their ability to become scary red-zone factors is yet another similarity between the two wideouts."

Indiana coach Kevin Wilson resigned due to "philosophical differences."

It was first reported that Wilson was fired. Either way, the story is that Wilson and athletic department officials had a heated disagreement over his treatment of players and no resolution could be found. "There was no smoking gun, no precipitating event," that led to Wilson's resignation, athletic director Fred Glass said. Glass said he and Wilson "weren't on the same page" about leadership style. The Hoosiers promoted DC Tom Allen, a nominee for the Frank Broyles Award, to head coach to replace Wilson. "My heart breaks for [Wilson]. I never expected this to happen," Allen said.

USC junior WR JuJu Smith-Schuster is "leaning heavily" toward signing with Roc Nation for representation, according to Neil Stratton of Inside The League..

This means Smith-Schuster is expected to declare for the 2017 NFL Draft, which was expected all along. Smith-Schuster is widely viewed as one of the top receivers in the country and likely thrives in the yards after catch area of the game. His production dropped significantly, by almost half, in 2016 compared to his sophomore season. Smith-Schuster dealt with a back injury this season, which included x-rays.

Iowa State junior WR Allen Lazard announced he will return to school for the 2017 season.

Lazard stands tall at 6-foot-5 and 223-pounds and posted his best collegiate season in 2016 with 69 catches for 1,018 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Lazard points to his love of Iowa State and wanting to be a Cyclone while growing up. He will remain Iowa State's top pass catcher next season, when he enters the season at 21-years-old.

Colorado HC Mike MacIntyre was named winner of the Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award.

Well deserved by MacIntyre. He compiled a paltry 8-27 mark with the Buffs over his first three seasons, but everything has gone right in 2016. Colorado is heading to the Pac-12 title game to face off against Washington on Friday courtesy of a 10-2 record (8-1 in conference). Their lone losses in 2016 have come to a borderline-Playoff outfit in Michigan and a red-hot USC team. And that's it. If Colorado really wants to have some fun, a win over Washington could force some interesting decisions for the CFB Playoff committee, though Colorado itself is unlikely to crash the top four.

Indiana promoted DC Tom Allen to head coach in the wake of Kevin Wilson's firing.

Of note here, Allen is not being named the interim head coach, here. He is being named the actual head coach, on the day of Wilson's firing. Just bizarre all the way around. In a statement, AD Fred Glass said, "I quickly concluded that person was in our midst in Tom Allen. He is a leader of men. He is demanding without being demeaning." Allen was just hired as defensive coordinator away from USF last January, so it isn't like he has been a mainstay on the Indiana staff. Allen will have his first chance to show off his fresh head-coaching chops when the 6-6 Hoosiers play in their yet-to-be-determined bowl game.

Missouri redshirt junior DE Charles Harris declared for the 2017 NFL Draft.

In a statement, HC Barry Odom said, "I wish we could have another year with Charles leading our program, but there's no question in my mind that he's ready for the next level." Not everybody is as certain as his coach. In early November NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter cautioned that the 6-foot-3, 255-pounder hasn't proven "he has the quickness and bend to reach the quarterback consistently against college tackles," the obvious insinuation being that he is not NFL-ready in that aspect of his game. This past season, Harris has registered 61 tackles (12.0 for loss), nine sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. He is coming off a 2015 campaign in which he recorded a whopping 18.5 tackles for loss.

USC redshirt junior QB Max Browne has left the program.

Browne is going to begin looking at transfer options and will not compete in USC's yet-to-be-determined bowl contest. He infamously opened the season as the Trojans' starter, but proved terribly ineffective in his three starts. HC Clay Helton and crew then switched to redshirt freshman Sam Darnold, who has led USC on a monumental second-half run. The Trojans are currently rolling on an eight-game winning streak, erasing the bitter taste of that 1-3 start. As a graduate transfer, Browne will be eligible to play next year regardless of which school he ultimately lands at.

UCF HC Scott Frost dismissed the possibility that he could end up coaching Oregon.

"I'm not a candidate for Oregon," Frost said, "I'm where I want to be." There are strong connections between the Ducks and the current Knights' coach, as Frost served as Oregon's offensive coordinator from 2013-2015 and prior to that, served as their wide receiver coach. ESPN's Brett McMurphy relays that Oregon has already reached out to USF coach Willie Taggart and Ohio State DC Greg Schiano, with Western Michigan HC P.J. Fleck. expected to be contacted in the coming days. Oregon has already indicated that they do not plan on promoting a coach already on staff.

Western Kentucky OL Forrest Lamp accepted his invite to the Senior Bowl.

ESPN's Mel Kiper sees in Lamp "a little bit of Brandon Scherff." A four-year starter, Lamp has been a stalwart left tackle for some prolific offenses. "He has good feet, is a sound technician and is very alert, which means he sees blitzes and senses stunts ahead of time. These traits are why I think he's ready to play immediately in the NFL in 2017," Kiper wrote. "Lamp is in the second-round range right now, and I'm excited to see how he performs against better talent in the Senior Bowl."
