NFL.com's Charles Davis believes UCF redshirt junior QB Blake Bortles' NFL potential is steadily rising.

"How about this year, 15 touchdowns, four interceptions... but his leadership is the best part of it," Davis said. "He got in the huddle in the Louisville game when they were down late and said, "Guys isn't this where we want to be?" Bortles has been on NFL radars for quite some time, and should enter next season as one of the top draft-eligible prospects at his position.

Marshall senior QB Rakeem Cato completed 15-of-27 attempts and threw for 214 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 45-13 win over FIU.

In so doing, he broke Russell Wilson's FBS record by throwing for a touchdown in his 39th straight game. "It was a team effort for all 39 games and we still got more games to play," said Cato. The efficient and record-setting performance must have been sweet for the Miami native playing in his hometown. Cato has thrown for 1,912 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions in seven games this season. "How about Cato?" said Marshall coach Doc Holliday. "I mean, it's a record that may never be broken. That's a heck of a record. If anyone deserves it, that young man does. And to be able to come down here to Miami and do that in front of his family, 15 minutes from where he grew up, that was huge."

Baylor redshirt senior QB Bryce Petty's struggles against West Virginia "only add to the concerns" surrounding his draft stock, according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

Petty completed 16-of-36 attempts for 223 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-27 loss. Those stats aren't great, and we certainly won't argue that Petty played well, though it should be pointed out that he was the victim of a handful of crushing drops by Baylor's receiving corps, which has disappointed this season. "[Petty's] struggles against West Virginia matched the concerns many have with Petty in his NFL transition: Struggles against pressure, too many predetermined reads and little touch downfield," Brugler wrote. "Petty seemed out of sync with his targets and couldn't get into get into a rhythm, struggling with a crowded pocket and easily becoming rattled."

Oregon freshman RB Royce Freeman had a career game in Saturday's win against Washington, rushing for 169 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries.

Fox Sports Bruce Feldman wrote that Freeman is a "stronger, more physical version" of De'Anthony Thomas last month, and said he was Oregon's most talented runner since Jonathan Stewart. Both are difficult assertions to argue. The 6-foot, 229-pound Freeman's presence prompted the Ducks coaching staff to shift former starting RB Byron Marshall to receiver. He's that talented.

Oregon redshirt junior QB Marcus Mariota completed 24-of-33 attempts for 336 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 45-20 victory over Washington.

This was the first time he'd gone over 300 yards since September 20 against Washington State. Mariota has posted a ludicrous 19/0 TD/INT ratio and 70.2 completion percentage, easily career bests. As is often the case, Mariota faced pressure in this game, but seamlessly danced away and made intelligent decisions, checking down or throwing the ball away. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound dual-threat is the favorite to go No. 1 in the spring draft.

Ole Miss senior CB Senquez Golson had two interceptions in Saturday's win over Tennessee.

He returned the pair of picks for 19 yards total. Golson is up to an impressive seven interceptions during Ole Miss' 7-0 start. An AFC area scout told NFL.com last week that Golson must show he can play man-to-man defense in order to play in nickel packages in the NFL. NFL media's Albert Breer called Golson "a poor man's version of Chargers rookie Jason Verrett." The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Golson has 4.43 speed.

It is "virtually certain" FSU redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston will declare for the 2015 NFL Draft "no matter what happens in the second half of the season," according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora adds there is no consideration for Winston to drop out of FSU to avoid legal inquiries and head coach Jimbo Fisher has been pressured by others to suspend Winston for more game action, but he has refused. "There is no upside in waiting to go the NFL now, after all of this," one source told La Canfora. Winston took out an insurance policy prior to the season, which many concluded as 2014 being his last season at FSU. Winston and his father have previously stated Jameis' goal is to get his degree, and that would not be immediately possible if Winston leaves following this season.

Notre Dame redshirt junior QB Everett Golson completed 31 of 52 attempts for 313 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in the school's 31-27 loss to FSU.

Golson added 33 rushing yards. Overall it was a very positive performance from Golson. Yes, a handful of throws were ill-advised, but he created operable space with his feet or worked through progressions in the pocket. Golson's vertical arm was certainly on display. There is a reason why Rotoworld's Josh Norris ranks Golson as the No. 3 quarterback in this class, as he puts his talents to use much more consistently than Connor Cook and Brett Hundley.
Oct 19 - 9:59 AM

FSU redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston completed 23 of 31 attempts for 273 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the school's 31-27 win over Notre Dame.

Winston dominated the second half, completing 15 of 16 attempts. It was not in a clean pocket either, as Winston frequently had to fire in the face of a free rusher or move to find workable space. It was a great quarterback duel, but there were plenty of other pieces that played at a high level too. FSU would have to play down to their competition to stumble before the College Football Playoff.
Oct 18 - 11:52 PM

UCLA redshirt junior QB Brett Hundley completed 31-of-42 attempts for 330 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 36-34 win against Cal.

He added 94 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries in the huge performance. Hundley wasn't harassed as much as usual today, as UCLA's awful offensive line wasn't as challenged by Cal's mediocre defense. Rotoworld's Josh Norris is lower on Hundley than most, ranking him as the No. 5 draft-eligible QB. "Improvements have been displayed some weeks, namely using his athleticism as a passer along with a runner," Norris wrote. "In others, he reverts to his poor old form of dropping his eyes and becoming a running back after beating the first defender... or once fixating on the rush. Two steps forward, two steps back."

Oct 18 - 9:39 PM

TCU redshirt junior QB Trevone Boykin completed 26-of-39 attempts for 410 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 42-9 victory over Oklahoma State.

Boykin added nine carries for 41 yards. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior is "far from a polished product as a passer," according to NFL.com's Bucky Brooks. That said, Boykin is undoubtedly one of the nation's most improved signal-callers this season. Boykin had 1,198 yards passing and a 7/7 TD/INT ratio last year as Casey Pachall's backup/competition. He already has 1,873 yards and a 14/3 TD/INT ratio this season in Sonny Cumbie's wide-open offense.
Oct 18 - 9:11 PM

Michigan State junior QB Connor Cook completed 24-of-32 attempts for three touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 56-17 win over Indiana.

Believe it or not, this was just the second time this season that Cook cracked 300 yards passing. Cook looks outstanding in a clean pocket, waiting for breakout WR Tony Lippett to get a step on his defender, but he gambles a bit too much at this juncture in his career for our liking. Rotoworld's Josh Norris ranks Cook as the No. 4 draft-eligible QB. "Has to improve how he manages the pocket. Has to," Norris wrote. "But on a team that will keep him clean on most snaps in the pocket, Cook will have success. That is an unrealistic scenario to ask for."
