Oregon junior OW De'Anthony Thomas said the Ducks should "at least put up 40" against Stanford on Thursday.

The comment was in response to a question about whether the Cardinal could hold the Ducks to 14 points again; Stanford upset Oregon 17-14 last year. "I don't think so," Thomas replied. "I feel like, this team, we should at least put up 40." The comment wasn't made maliciously, and Las Vegas is leaning toward agreement. The Ducks are currently 10.5-point favorites.

Georgia junior RB Todd Gurley will declare for the 2015 NFL Draft, confirmed HC Mark Richt.

Even with a torn ACL, we still rank Gurley as the No. 1 RB in the class. He's one of the most physically gifted backs to enter the NFL in the last decade, combining outstanding vision, footwork, speed and power. He's fast enough to hit home runs, powerful enough to run through arm tackles, and skilled enough to wait on his blockers when a screen is called. Gurley averaged 6.4 yards per run in college. The 6-foot-1, 236-pounder suffered his knee injury in November. He might be ready by Week 1.

West Virginia redshirt senior QB Clint Trickett is retiring from football due to concussions and will not play in the school's bowl game.

Trickett told the media he has suffered five concussions in the past 14 months, hiding two from trainers. Sophomore Skyler Howard should start in his place. Trickett was previously cleared to practice, but a recent update said he had not been cleared to play. The quarterback started his career at FSU before transferring to West Virginia.

Virginia Tech redshirt junior DE Dadi Nicolas announced he is returning for the 2015 season.

"Looking forward to coming back to school next year to accomplish all the goals I have set for myself and becoming the man God wants me to be," Nicolas tweeted. This year's edge rushing class is loaded, but Nicolas likely would have made a name for himself when evaluators were able to catch up on his tape. He will enter the 2015 season as a fifth-year senior after registering nine sacks this year.

Michigan State redshirt junior edge rusher Shilique Calhoun has met with a number of agents who want to represent her son, according to Rand Getlin.

Obviously Calhoun is considering declaring for the draft, just like many other fourth-year juniors. Still, Calhoun does have another season of eligibility remaining and Getlin cites one source who believes there's an "awfully good chance" the Spartan stays in school for another year. Calhoun wins with length and power.

Citing a source, draft insider Tony Pauline writes Utah junior T Jeremiah Poutasi is expected to enter the 2015 NFL Draft.

Poutasi earned praise earlier this season from NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah, saying he is an "intriguing prospect" that is "pretty raw," with "plenty of upside." Utah has already played their bowl game, so Poutasi has time to focus on the decision. Poutasi has experience at left and right tackle.

Despite everyone expecting USC junior DL Leonard Williams to enter the 2015 NFL Draft, he continues to send mixed signals.

"I definitely wanted it to come to this point," he told the LA Times. "Now that I'm at this point, I feel like I'm not finishing what I started. I feel like I'm getting cut short." Williams brought up having to support a two year old child but also expressed how much he enjoys playing at the college level. It would be a major surprise if Williams stayed for another season.

TCU HC Gary Patterson was named the Associated Press' 2014 Coach of the Year.

Patterson received 27 of 54 votes to take home the hardware. Ohio State’s Urban Meyer (14) and Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen (6) rounded out the top three. This is the second time Patterson has won AP Coach of the Year honors. He joins Nick Saban as the only two-time winners of the award. Patterson led TCU to an 11-1 record and a No. 6 placement in the final College Football Playoff standings. The Horned Frogs went 4-8 last year.

South Carolina junior RB Mike Davis confirmed he will enter the 2015 NFL Draft.

Davis' final game will be against Miami, and he and Duke Johnson will be showcasing their skills in the same contest. Davis has not crossed the 100 yard mark in the last five games, however, he still offers late second or third day ability as well as passing down skills.

Oregon junior DL DeForest Buckner is a "near-lock" to return to school next season, according to a source close to Rand Getlin.

This is great news for any Oregon fan. Buckner put together some of the best flashes of any defensive prospect in this class and has the versatility to play in a variety of alignments. Fellow defensive prospect Arik Armstead is almost certainly leaving for the NFL, so Buckner could be the focus up front next season for the Ducks.

Western Kentucky redshirt senior QB Brandon Doughty went 31-of-42 passing for 486 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions in a 49-48 win over Central Michigan in Wednesday's Bahamas Bowl.

You had to see the end to believe it. With 12 minutes remaining, WKU led 49-14. The Chippewas preceded to score 34 straight points, the last touchdown coming as time expired on a 75-yard Hail Mary that featured three laterals. CMU went for a two-point conversion and the win, and the Hilltoppers batted away a fade to escape. WKU head coach Jeff Brohm ended this dream season with two consecutive zany one-point wins and an 8-5 record. Doughty, who leads the nation with 4,830 passing yards and 49 touchdowns, was recently granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA. The Hilltoppers will have once again have one of the nation's most prolific offenses in 2015.
