CBS Sports' Dane Brugler would choose Georgia senior QB Aaron Murray over Alabama senior QB A.J. McCarron.

Brugler made the statement in response to Mel Kiper noting Murray is likely a fourth- to sixth-round prospect. The Georgia passer started the season on a high note, handling pressure and firing after being forced off his spot, but his play has declined with the loss of multiple offensive weapons.

NFL Draft Scout's Rob Rang projects Washington to select Georgia LB Roquan Smith with the 13th pick in his latest mock draft.

The headline if Smith does go to Washington writes itself. Most mocks we've seen have a quarterback going in this spot, but as Rang points out, Washington has an obvious need at linebacker as well with five of them set for free agency. "Smith, the 2017 Butkus Award winner as the nation’s top linebacker, lacks ideal bulk but his speed to the flanks and in coverage makes him perfectly suited to today’s modern pass-happy NFL," Rang writes. If Smith does "fall" here and Kirk Cousins is brought back, this is an obvious fit.

Ohio State received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 DT Tyler Friday.

Friday made his decision on Friday (we know, we know), and chooses the Buckeyes over finalists Michigan, UCLA, Penn State and Miami. He's rated the fourth-best defensive tackle in the class by 247 Sports, and the 126th best player overall in ESPN's rankings. Reports indicate that he'll need to work on shedding blocks, but that he has a relentless motor and is an effective tackler. It sounds like the already loaded Ohio State class gets even better.

Wisconsin has extended HC Paul Chryst through the year 2023 with a five-year extension.

Chryst gets the deal after a 13-1 season and a win over Miami in the Orange Bowl. He'll make $3.3 million starting in 2018, with raise of $100,000 after each season. In his time with Wisconsin, he's gone 34-7, and the Badgers have gone 3-0 in bowl games under his leadership.

ESPN's Bill Polian believes that Louisville QB Lamar Jackson will be a "dynamic wide reciever" at the NFL level.

Polian believes that NFL teams will want to get the ball in Jackson's hands, which is the positive way of saying that Bill Polian doesn't believe Lamar Jackson can play quarterback. He cites his his doubts about his ability to play the position by mentioning his frame, throwing accuracy and "penchant for taking off on the run." He's certainly not the first person to believe Jackson won't play quarterback in the NFL, but this is certainly one of the most high-profile.

NFL Media Analyst Daniel Jeremiah has the Browns taking USC QB Sam Darnold with the first pick in his latest mock draft.

Jeremiah keeps it short and sweet, simply stating that "The Browns finally find their franchise signal-caller." Because of how much talent their is at the position -- and because none of them separated themselves over the 2017 season -- we're going to see a few different quarterbacks projected with the first pick. That being said, Darnold still appears to be the favorite, if there is such a thing as a favorite three-plus months before the event.

FAU HC Lane Kiffin compares redshirt freshman QB Chris Robison to former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.

Per the Palm Beach Post, Robison is "the likely frontrunner" for the 2018 starting job following Daniel Parr's transfer to Duquesne and Jason Driskel's retirement. Robison's biggest competition for the job is ex-Florida State Seminole and "Last Chance U" star De’Andre Johnson, who missed most of last year following surgery to remove blood clots in his arm. Robison, a four-star recruit in the 2017 cycle who competed at the Elite 11 event, was kicked off the Oklahoma roster last April following a DUI arrest. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder could be in line for huge numbers in FAU's explosive offense if he wins the job.

Purdue announced the resignation of co-offensive coordinator Tony Levine.

Levine also served as HC Jeff Brohm's special teams coordinator and TE coach. The 45-year-old Levine previously served as Houston's head coach from 2011-2014 before hooking up with Brohm at Western Kentucky. No reason was given for his departure outside of this super-abrupt, strangely brief press release: "Purdue head football coach Jeff Brohm announced today that assistant coach Tony Levine has resigned to pursue opportunities outside of coaching."

Formerly dismissed Tennessee senior WR Jauan Jennings posted on Instagram on Thursday evening that he will be playing "one last season" for the Volunteers.

Jennings‘ return to the Tennessee football team is facilitated by the Vols' new coaching staff. He was booted off the team in November by interim HC Brady Hoke following a profanity-laced social-media tirade aimed at the coaching staff. New head coach Jeremy Pruitt and new athletic director Phillip Fulmer opted to give him another chance. The 6-foot-3, 201-pound Jennings is probably Tennessee's best receiver, which no doubt helped his reinstatement cause. He posted a 40-580-7 receiving line in 2016. Last season was wrecked by a season-ending wrist dislocation sustained against Georgia Tech in the opener.

Louisville defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon resigned.

Louisville coach Bobby Petrino announced the news. While he didn't provide details, it's likely that Petrino told Sirmon he wouldn't be back. In Sirmon's one season at Louisville after replacing former DC Todd Grantham, the Cardinals regressed from the No. 14 total defense in 2016 to No. 62. Sirmon also struggled in 2016 as Mississippi State's DC -- Grantham was hired to replace him and the defense showed immediate, drastic improvement.

South Florida QB Quinton Flowers has left the East-West Shrine Game due to a death in the family.

Flowers (5'10/202) will not play in Saturday's game. The timing of a death of a loved one is never opportune. Particularly so in this case, as Flowers was trying to win fans in NFL front office's in advance of April's draft. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline believes Flowers will have to shift to RB in order to potentially make an NFL roster.

Clemson redshirt sophomore QB Zerrick Cooper will transfer.

The writing was on the wall. Cooper functioned as Kelly Bryant's backup last season. He wasn't likely to remain QB2 in 2018. Bryant is back, and Clemson has two five-star signal-callers to compete with him in sophomore Hunter Johnson and true freshman Trevor Lawrence. Cooper, a four-star recruit in the class of 2016, completed 25-of-41 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns in limited action last year. He'll draw plenty of interest on the transfer circuit.
