San Diego State junior RB Adam Muema tweeted he was leaving for the NFL, but later deleted the post.

"I'm declaring to the NFL, there's no secret," Muema posted on Monday. The school noted they are aware of the statement, but have no further comment at this time. "I know Keith Smith (linebacker from San Diego State) is coming out. The two of them may come out together," Lou Farrar, Muema's high school coach, said. The two were childhood friends. The junior rushed for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns this year.

Stanford senior WR Ty Montgomery (shoulder) will not play in Tuesday's Foster Farms Bowl.

Cardinal HC David Shaw indicated that Montgomery could have played had the game been played later in the week. Instead, Stanford will be cautious with Montgomery. Stanford had previously been nearly two-touchdown favorites against Maryland, but a mediocre offense has now lost its best player. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound wideout had 61 catches for 604 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Tampa Bay Bucs GM Jason Licht will attend the Rose Bowl to scout Oregon QB Marcus Mariota and FSU QB Jameis Winston.

The pair will lock horns on Thursday for a berth into the first College Football Playoff Championship Game. Mariota and Winston have yet to declare for the draft, but the industry views both decisions as foregone conclusions. The 6-foot-4, 219-pound Mariota, who just won about every award a college player can win, is the frontrunner to go No. 1. Winston is a projected top-five selection. Tampa Bay clinched the No. 1 overall pick Sunday and seems like a great bet to end up with one of them.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban indicated that junior RB T.J. Yeldon (ankle) is continuing to progress and appears to be on track for this week's playoff game against Ohio State.

"Hopefully he’ll continue to progress," Saban said. "He had a significant amount of time off but he seems to be making progress now and I’m hopeful that he’ll be able to make a contribution in the game." Yeldon sprained his ankle against LSU last month. He also suffered through a hamstring injury in the first month of the season. Even so, Yeldon leads the Tide in rushing with 932 yards.

Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News reports that senior WR Ty Montgomery's (shoulder) "availability for the Foster Farms Bowl remains in question."

Stanford plays Maryland on Tuesday. Montgomery suffered the right shoulder injury against Cal on Nov. 22 and missed the school's date with UCLA a week later. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound wideout has 61 catches for 604 yards and three touchdowns this season, after catching 61 passes for 958 yards and 10 touchdowns last year. Montgomery is at his best with the ball in his hands, whether as a ball-carrying receiver or on returns, but touches might have to be manufactured for him at the next level.

USC redshirt junior QB Cody Kessler completed 23-of-39 attempts for 321 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 45-42 Holiday Bowl win over Nebraska.

Kessler's 20-yard scoring strike to Bryce Dixon with 2:03 left in the third quarter gave the Trojans a 45-27 cushion that became very valuable later on, and also tied him with Matt Barkley (2011) for the USC single-season record of 39 touchdown passes. "That is completely irrelevant to me," Kessler said. "I'm not just saying that. I really do mean it. I've always put the team before me." The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Kessler announced that he'll return to school in 2015. He's an early frontrunner for the Heisman trophy.

Penn State sophomore QB Christian Hackenberg set school records for completions and yards passing by completing 34-of-50 attempts for 371 yards in Saturday's 31-30 overtime Pinstripe Bowl win versus Boston College.

Hackenberg also threw for four touchdowns, tying a school record, in earning MVP honors. The firework show and record writing began early, as Hackenberg tied another program record -- this one for longest scoring pass -- with a 72-yard TD strike to Chris Godwin down the right hash with 5:22 remaining in the first quarter. Hackenberg struggled throughout the season, clearly regressing from his true freshman season, but he'll head into the winter coming off arguably his most impressive collegiate performance. In this game, he displayed all the tools scouts have pointed to in calling him a potential top-five overall talent, including a howitzer arm to push the ball downfield, the velocity to fit the ball into tight windows, toughness in the pocket, accuracy, and an underrated ability to evade pressure. Penn State's maligned offensive line played a little better in this game, and there is hope that the unit will be far better in 2015.

USC redshirt junior QB Cody Kessler announced after Saturday's bowl win against Nebraska that he will return to school in 2015.

Outstanding news for the Trojans. Kessler said he wants to compete for a national championship, and he should have an opportunity to do so with next year's loaded USC squad. Kessler threw for 3,826 yards with a 39/5 TD/INT ratio this year. Next season, he'll throw to a deep receiving corps featuring JuJu Smith and perhaps Nelson Agholor, who is still mulling a jump to the pros. Star RB Javorius Allen is also considering opting into the draft. ESPN's Mel Kiper ranked Kessler as the No. 7 draft-eligible signal-caller. An evaluator speaking with the OC Register earlier this month said Kessler is a fourth-round prospect and cited a lack of "elite" physical traits.

NFL scouts have questioned South Carolina junior RB Mike Davis' conditioning and focus, calling it the "Clowney syndrome," reports to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

Davis failed to crack 1,000 rushing yards in his final collegiate season and last broke the century mark two-and-a-half months ago. We've also been disappointed by the on-field sluggishness we've seen. "Davis has the compact, physical build for the NFL, running behind his pads and low to the ground to violently work off contact and finish runs," Brugler wrote. "He carries the ball with easy burst and an aggressive mentality, but runs into his own blockers too often and his vision and anticipation showed some rust as a junior. Davis has a versatile skill-set to be an effective receiver with soft hands and experience running routes. However, his work ethic and durability need vetting before a team invests a pick as high as his talent says he should go." The 5-foot-9, 223-pound Davis grades out as as the No. 7 RB in the 2015 class by, which projects him to go in the top-75. We wouldn't be shocked if he slips into Day 3.

Miami junior RB Duke Johnson officially declared for the 2015 NFL Draft.

Of the many poorly-kept early-entry decisions, Johnson's may have been the worst. Nobody expected him to return for his senior season, and his mother revealed he would jump to the pros on Saturday. Johnson said he made his decision before the team left for the Independence Bowl, and we think it's possible his mind was made up before the season even began. The 5-foot-9, 194-pound Johnson had 1,652 rushing yards on a 6.8 YPC average and 10 touchdowns in 2014. He also chipped in as a receiver with 38 receptions for 421 yards and three scores. Johnson owns several Miami records, including most career rushing yards (3,519), career yards per carry (6.69), and career all-purpose yards (5,526 yards). He has the look of a Day 2 pick.

Notre Dame junior G Nick Martin will return to school for the 2015 season.

"I’m coming back to Notre Dame, there’s no doubt about that," Martin said, adding it was a "simple decision." Martin, Zack's younger brother, asked for an evaluation from the draft advisory board.

Duke senior WR Jamison Crowder caught seven passes for 102 yards and returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown in the school's 36-31 loss to Arizona State.

Crowder makes plays from multiple alignments: out wide, in the slot and as a returner thanks to agility and body control. He could put on a show in Mobile at the Senior Bowl thanks to precise route running. Still, the earliest we expect him to be drafted is the second day.
