NFL.com's Bucky Brooks believes Buffalo senior OLB Khalil Mack is a late first-round talent.

Brooks does not that Mack has the "potential to become a difference maker on a defense with a few key contributors already in place," but believes Mack fits best as a sidekick to a veteran edge player. "While I don't see him as a franchise player in the mold of Von Miller, I believe he can be a cornerstone player on an elite defense with other established playmakers," the former NFL scout writes. We ask this: who is in the mold of Von Miller, other than Von Miller? We believe Mack is a superior player to Anthony Barr at this time, and wouldn't be surprised to see Mack draw a top 10 selection.

Minnesota coach Jerry Kill said senior RB David Cobb is "very questionable" for Saturday's game at Wisconsin.

This is a troubling development indeed, as Kill had previously designated Cobb, injured in last week's win over Nebraska, merely "questionable." Forty-eight hours later has brought a slight downgrade to that prognosis. Cobb's loss would cripple Minnesota's run-heavy offense. He's rushed for 1,430 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. The Golden Gophers also might be without backup tailback Berkley Edwards, who suffered a concussion against Nebraska. If both Cobb and Edwards can't go, Minnesota figures to prescribe a heavy dose of QB runs for Mitch Leidner, as well as cross their fingers that RBs Donnell Kirkwood and Rodrick Williams can be effective.

Stanford senior WR Ty Mongtomery has been ruled out for the upcoming game against UCLA with a shoulder injury.

Montgomery suffered the right shoulder injury against Cal. Physicality after the catch is a staple of Montgomery's game, as he wins with the ball in his hands out of the backfield or on screens. Head coach David Shaw said it is a "distinct possibility" Montgomery returns for the school's bowl game. Redshirt junior Jordan Pratt was listed as a starter in Ty's place.

Florida sophomore CB Vernon Hargreaves III will not shadow FSU senior WR Rashad Greene.

Hargreaves is one of the top corners in the country, and you will be hearing all about him this summer. However, few corners actually prefer to shadow opposing receivers, especially ones that also work in the slot (like Greene). Jameis Winston has tended to lock on to Greene and Nick O'Leary this season, and expect to Florida attempt to bait Winston into interceptions with underneath coverage.

Notre Dame redshirt sophomore DL Jarron Jones will miss the remainder of the season with a lisfranc injury.

Recovery is a four to six month process. Jones was obviously hobbled against Louisville, but has made big plays each week once using his length and strength to push his opponent in the backfield. Jones is draft-eligible, however, do not expect him to declare.

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Southeastern Louisiana senior Bryan Bennett as the No. 6 QB in the 2015 class.

If that name sounds familiar, Bennett is the quarterback Marcus Mariota beat out for the starting job a few years ago. In fact, many believed Bennett was the favorite to win that job. He needs plenty of refinement in the pocket, but right now Bennett is best outside of structure. That is not a recipe for sustained NFL success.

LSU LT La'El Collins has been invited to the Senior Bowl.

Collins' evaluation is reportedly "all over the board," according to draft insider Tony Pauline. We are huge fans of Collins because of his use of length, functional strength and assertiveness. However, there are a handful of very poor plays, and some will focus on those as the foundation of his report.

UCLA redshirt junior QB Brett Hundley told Jim Rome "there is a really good chance" last weekend's win was his last versus USC.

"The conversation keep coming up. I’ve got my degree," Hundley said during the interview. "I’ve done everything I wanted to do here. I’ve left something really, truly great, and I feel good. That’s probably my last one against USC." This is not a surprise, but many evaluators have suggested Hundley return to school for one more year to refine his skills in the pocket.

NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah spoke with two NFL executives who believe Alabama junior WR Amari Cooper would have ranked as the fourth best prospect at the position in last year's class.

We agree with these player personnel staffers, placing Cooper behind Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans and Odell Beckham Jr. In fact, Rotoworld's Josh Norris does not rank Cooper as the top receiver in his own class. Two other executives believe Cooper would have ranked third, while one lone NFLer placed him second, just behind Sammy Watkins.

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks reports that NFL evaluators "are fascinated by the long-term potential" of Washington State redshirt senior WR Vince Mayle.

The 6-foot-3, 219-pound Mayle, who will play in both the Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Game, has hauled in 101 receptions and 1,405 yards this year. "Mayle is a big-bodied pass catcher with outstanding ball skills who has grown into a legitimate No. 1 receiver in the Cougars' passing game," Brooks wrote. "Against Arizona State, Mayle snagged 15 passes for 252 yards while displaying impressive athleticism, explosiveness and leaping ability. Mayle's ability to win 50-50 balls on the perimeter makes him an intriguing option for a team desperately looking for a big-bodied athlete to use on jump balls in the red zone. Considering the impact big, athletic receivers are making in today's game, Mayle's size and talent could make him a fast riser on draft boards during the pre-draft process." If Mayle tests out well, he figures to shoot up boards leading up to the draft.

Bovada has cut its list of Heisman candidates to Oregon QB Marcus Mariota and Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon III.

The sports betting site apparently is pretty confident that previous candidates such as Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett, TCU QB Trevone Boykin, Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott, Baylor QB Bryce Petty and Florida State QB Jameis Winston are no longer realistic options for the trophy. Mariota, at 1/3 odds, is looked at as the favorite to become the first Heisman Trophy winner in Oregon history. Gordon was given 2/1 odds to win the award.

Michigan State redshirt sophomore OT Jack Conklin "has taken his game to new heights this season," according to TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.

"Manning the left tackle spot for the Spartans, he grades out as the top blocker on the unit and his performance against Ohio State sackmaster Joey Bosa raised eyebrows," Pauline wrote. "Many are of the opinion Conklin is best at right tackle in the NFL and most believe he has first round potential down the road." Conklin is a massive 6-foot-5, 326-pound specimen. The former walk-on redshirted his first season and has been starting ever since.
