NFL.com's Gil Brandt believes Texas A&M redshirt sophomore WR Mike Evans is one of five players who should have stayed in school for an extra season.

"I can see why he didn't want to stay -- for one thing, he's losing a great quarterback to the draft --but I really believe that staying and improving his route-running and understanding of the passing game would've made him an even better player than he already is," Brandt writes. The four other prospects listed are USC's Dion Bailey, Wyoming's Brett Smith, Colorado's Paul Richardson, and FSU's James Wilder.

Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen said redshirt junior RB Melvin Gordon III had a hip flexor injury that limited him in the second half of Saturday's loss to LSU.

Gordon was the best player on the field early, rushing for 139 yards and a touchdown on his first 13 attempts. He mysteriously vanished in the second half, however, getting only three carries in the final 29 minutes of the 28-24 loss (Wisconsin led 24-7 at one point). Anderson said after the game that Gordon wasn't hurt, but the running back said on Monday that he injured himself on a second quarter run. "I should have let them know, let Coach A know and stepped up and told them, 'Look. I need to be in there,'" Gordon said. "I put that on myself." Gordon doesn't think the injury is serious. "It was very obvious he pulled up," Andersen said. "We were trying to be smart with him."

Washington sophomore QB Cyler Miles has been reinstated from suspension and will start against Eastern Washington this weekend.

Huskies' coach Chris Petersen announced the news Monday. Miles was allegedly involved in a pair of assaults over the winter and was suspended for the opener. Jeff Lindquist had a chance to run away with the job, but completed just 10-of-26 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown in a 17-16 squeaker over Hawaii. "He's done everything right, without question, or he wouldn't be with us," Petersen said of Miles at Pac-12 Media Days. "Guys make mistakes, we all know that, certainly in that age group. We always say that the age group we're dealing with, for the most part, is the dumbest age group in America."

Iowa State junior wide receiver Quenton Bundrage will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in the season-opening upset loss against North Dakota State.

"He's a big playmaker," Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads said on Monday while announcing the news. "Bundrage was a very big part of our offense ... he was looking forward to not only a big-play season but a consistent season for himself. To have that taken away on the fourth play of a football game is really disheartening for the young man. I feel for him." The junior led the team with 48 catches in 2013 and ranked amongst the NCAA leaders with nine TD grabs. Stud true freshman Allen Lazard, one of Iowa State's best recruits ever, is expected to have a big hand in replacing Bundrage's production.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced senior WR DeAndrew White (shoulder) and senior DB Jarrick Williams (foot) will both miss time after suffering injuries on Saturday against West Virginia.

White will miss two weeks with a separated shoulder, while Williams is out four weeks with a fractured foot. Robert Foster is listed as White's backup on the depth chart, but junior Chris Black got the call to replace White against West Virginia. According to Saban, Geno Smith and Maurice Smith are the options to replace Williams at the "star" position.

Texas redshirt junior QB David Ash (concussion) will miss this week's game against BYU.

Texas HC Charlie Strong told reporters Ash didn't show any symptoms during Saturday's 38-7 win over North Texas, but said his coaching staff got a call about Ash later that night. Strong didn't discuss Ash's injury, but the junior took several hits to the head against NTU, and his head bounced off the turf. Sophomore Tyrone Swoopes will get the call against the Cougars.

Auburn junior WR D'haquille Williams caught nine passes for 154 yards and one touchdown in the school's 45-21 win over Arkansas.

This was Williams' debut for the school, and it was a good one. The JUCO transfer mostly played out of the slot but displayed positioning, contested catches and speed to pick up yards on the ground. He could be the next one and done receiver prospect, however, it is very early. Expect Auburn to throw more often this season.

Former TCU redshirt sophomore DE Devonte Fields is now playing for Trinity Valley Community College.

Fields has had a whirlwind of an offseason, but it seems that he will actually play football this season. After multiple off-field encounters, Fields and TCU permanently separated, however he was not eligible to transfer to any FBS or FCS program. Fields should obviously destroy the competition at the JUCO level, but there are multiple layers to his evaluation.
Aug 31 - 6:18 PM

Florida State redshirt sophomore DE Chris Casher was suspended prior to Saturday's opener against Oklahoma State because of an "academic-related matter."

"Chris Casher is being withheld pending review of an academic-related matter," a statement from the school read. "Student privacy will not allow us to expand any further." The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder would have made his first career start against the Pokes after appearing in 13 games as a redshirt freshman. Casher's career is now at a crossroads. He was previously placed on probation for one year for two violations of the university's student honor code for his alleged involvement in the sexual assault case centering on Jameis Winston.

Georgia junior RB Todd Gurley rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries in the school's 45-21 win over Clemson.

Gurley added a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The bruising running back frequently had big alleys to run through, but he took advantage of them thanks to great vision, patience and speed. His lateral jump cuts are explosive and Gurley absolutely has the strength to be first contact. Do not be surprised if Rotoworld's Josh Norris ranks Gurley as a top 10 prospect overall.
Aug 30 - 9:18 PM

Alabama junior RB T.J. Yeldon rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries in the school's 33-23 win over West Virginia.

Yeldon's most impressive run saw him break the line and accelerate through the second level and glide over the goal line. He seems to have a different gear in the red zone. Gurley looked a bit tentative at times last year to go along with ball security issues, but his talent is outstanding.
Aug 30 - 7:26 PM

Notre Dame redshirt junior QB Everett Golson completed 14 of 22 attempts for 295 yards and two touchdowns in the school's 48-17 win over Rice.

Golson added three more touchdowns on the ground to go along with 41 yards. Golson displayed improved passing awareness, and even threw with the laces. At was an impressive return for Golson, who missed last season due to academic issues. Notre Dame has a good amount of talent on both sides of the ball.
