The Newark Star-Ledger reports that the Giants aren't "aren't especially high" on UNC TE Eric Ebron.

"Everything I've heard in recent months and weeks," wrote beat writer Jordan Raanan, "indicates" that New York "won't draft [Ebron] at No. 12." Ebron has been an extremely popular mock draft selection to the Giants, but Raanan doesn't see it. "I'm a big fan of dynamic tight ends who can leap over defenders and high-point the ball," he wrote. "But the Giants apparently don't see that from Ebron. They're not overly impressed with his skills and overall package."

Jets QB Michael Vick called FSU redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston "the future of the NFL."

An interesting take indeed from a player who himself was once called the future of the NFL. "I think he's a great player," Vick said. "I look forward to watching him. I have high expectations for him. I think he, over time, has made some poor decisions. Have I been there to know exactly what happened? No. But I do know one thing: He may make some poor decisions, but he gets on that football field and he plays his ass off. Yeah, he can mature. He'll mature. I see him maturing as time goes on. Like, this year hasn't been as bad of a year as the first year was for Jameis. I think the kid will continue to improve. I think he's the future of the NFL." Winston is a projected top-five pick, and a possible target of Vick's Jets.

Ohio State redshirt freshman QB J.T. Barrett "still has some work to do with mechanics and accuracy, but he shares similar traits to Alex Smith when he was playing in Urban Meyer's system at Utah," Scout Inc.'s Steve Muench and Kevin Weidl wrote.

"He had some struggles early on, but he was arguably the most improved player on this list throughout the season," they wrote. "Barrett still has some work to do with mechanics and accuracy, but he shares similar traits to Alex Smith when he was playing in Urban Meyer's system at Utah, with his ability to make quick and efficient decisions while also showing the mobility to move the chains with his legs." Barrett was named the Big 10's freshman of the year and finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting after posting 3,772 total yards and 45 total touchdowns. Barrett broke his ankle versus Michigan and is out for the season, though he's expected to be ready for spring practices.

Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage spoke with one NFL team that is judging this year's T prospects based on their performance against Ohio State sophomore edge rusher Joey Bosa.

It makes sense. In fact, teams often look for a prospects' top matchup that season and use it as one of the three base exposures when creating an evaluation. Bosa will be that top opponent for every tackle who faces him. Michigan State redshirt sophomore tackle Jack Conklin is probably the best prospects Bosa faced this year. Expect the edge rusher to be at the top of many boards heading into the 2015 season.

Notre Dame senior T Christian Lombard's career is over due to a bulging disc, according to Irish Illustrated.

Lombard could have given the NFL a shot, but he will not pursue a professional football career. Sophomore Mike McGlinchey will likely take his place in the starting lineup. Notre Dame faces LSU in their bowl game.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn remained noncommittal regarding junior WR Duke Williams' status for the school's bowl game against Wisconsin.

Williams missed three games with a sprained MCL and bruised knee but returned against Alabama. He has dominated form the slot on underneath routes, which is a great complementary piece to Sammie Coates' vertical ability Coates has already announced he will enter the draft, and Williams could follow suit.

Oklahoma senior TE Blake Bell has accepted an invitation to play in the East West Shrine game.

This year's tight end class is not very intriguing in terms of first or second day picks, but the Shrine staff has done well in finding some possible gems in Bell, Wes Saxton, MyCole Pruitt and A.J. Derby. Bell joins Derby as two former quarterbacks making the position switch.

Mississippi State HC Dan Mullen said redshirt junior LB Benardrick McKinney is "indeed likely to turn pro."

The announcement, long expected, will come after the Orange Bowl. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound McKinney is huge, athletic, and packs a punch in the trenches. You can criticize his deficiencies in space and pass coverage, though it's fair to point out that he has the athletic tools to improve in both categories. ESPN's Mel Kiper wrote earlier this week that McKinney "is a good bet to be a first-rounder if the draft were tomorrow."

Minnesota redshirt sophomore TE Maxx Williams declined to comment on his NFL Draft intentions when asked by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Williams smiled and said, "We’ll find out," when asked about declaring for the NFL. He won't talk about it until after the season ends. "After the bowl game," he added. "We’ve got to worry about the bowl game." Williams confirmed he submitted his name to the NFL Draft Advisory Board. It's possible he'll be told he's a projected second-rounder. "Most of the time, through my dealings, [the board is] pretty close on things," Gophers coach Jerry Kill said. "Ultimately, it’s [the player’s] decision, and I support whatever happens." The coach added: "If he comes back, he’ll make a good decision. And if he doesn’t, he’ll make a good decision. And we’ll be excited either way." The 6-foot-4, 250-pound sophomore has a similar skill-set to Cowboy TE Jason Witten.

Indiana junior RB Tevin Coleman is "strongly considering" entering the 2015 NFL Draft, reports Yahoo! Sports' Rand Getlin.

You can write Coleman's name into the draft in ink. TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline reported earlier this month that the star runner was already meeting with agents. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Coleman rushed for 2,036 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. He's been pegged by most, including ESPN's Mel Kiper, as a second-rounder.

FSU redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston went No. 2 to the Titans in Todd McShay's inaugural 2015 mock draft.

"Winston has all the tools to be great on the field as an NFL quarterback," McShay wrote. "He excels from inside the pocket, has prototypical size, can drive the ball downfield and to the outside hashes, and displays very good game-management skills and on-field leadership. But his off-field behavior to this point frightens me. The Titans and any team that considers drafting him are going to have to be comfortable with what they find when they look into his past, and with his psychological testing." While some wouldn't touch Winston -- former NFL executive Greg Gabriel recently said he would not draft him in any round -- his upside is such that a team in the top 10 (or five) will no doubt talk itself into him. Because of this reason, McShay said it's "hard to envision either [Winston or Marcus Mariota] getting out of the top 10."
Dec 19 - 8:20 PM

South Carolina senior QB Dylan Thompson has accepted an invitation to play in the East West Shrine game.

Thompson has plenty of starting experience, filling in for the likes of Connor Shaw and starting this season. His career TD to INT ratio is 38:16 with a career high completion percentage of 59.5 for this season. The Shrine now has all six of their quarterbacks: Duke's Anthony Boone, Nevada's Cody Fajardo, ODU's Taylor Heinicke, Georgia's Hutson Mason, Arizona State's Taylor Kelly and Thompson.
