South Carolinas DT Kelcy Quarles and CB Victor Hampton have both been cleared of all wrongdoing by police in a NYC nightclub fight, reports TMZ.

The pair had been under suspicion by the New York City Police Department for a possible role in April 11's brawl at the Greenhouse nightclub. Apparently, Quarles and Hampton were part of a group who objected to marijuana being smoked. Quarles is a Day 2 prospect. Jadeveon Clowney wasn't the most productive USC DL last season. Quarles led the Gamecocks in sacks (9.5) and tackles for loss (13.5) in 2013.

Florida State reinstated redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston.

Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher said Winston's suspension "hit home" with the quarterback. Winston, of course, was suspended for Saturday's victory over Clemson after he jumped on a table and shouted expletives in the school's Student Union. "Tremendously," Fisher said when asked how missing Saturday's game affected the Heisman Trophy winner. "I think you could see it on the sideline ... [but] he was a great influence for Sean [Maguire] and the other guys on the sideline. It was not for show or go. It was something heartfelt. I think it hit home, there's no doubt." Fisher named Winston the starting QB for Saturday's game against NC State on Monday. Because of this incident and several others, Winston's stock has fallen with evaluators. It's absolutely imperative that he not get into further trouble prior to the spring.

NFL media analyst Bucky Brooks writes that the hype surrounding Michigan senior QB Devin Gardner "has subsided."

That's an understatement. Gardner completed 14-of-26 attempts for 148 yards and two interceptions in a loss to Utah on Saturday, and has posted a 0/5 TD/INT rate in Michigan's two games against quality opponents this year (the other being Notre Dame). Michigan HC Brady Hoke is currently contemplating who will be his starting quarterback against Minnesota on Saturday. Frankly, sophomore Shane Morris looks like the Wolverines' best bet at the moment. "It was only a year ago when some in the NFL community felt like Gardner had the potential to develop into a franchise quarterback," Brooks wrote. "However, the hype surrounding the senior quarterback has subsided after watching him become a turnover machine in critical moments for the Wolverines. The turnovers not only killed the Wolverines' chances of holding off a feisty Utah squad, but it continued to spotlight the concerns about Gardner's judgment and accuracy from the pocket."

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline writes that "had been raving" about Utah redshirt senior edge rusher Nate Orchard prior to Saturday's game against Michigan.

Orchard aced another key test, collecting seven tackles, two for loss, two sacks and a pass deflection. "After a slow start Orchard turned on the burners during critical moments in the second half and looked dominant at times," Pauline wrote. "The ability Orchard displayed off the line of scrimmage in space was impressive and nicely complimented his pass rushing skills. Comparisons are being drawn to former Boise State star Demarcus Lawrence, selected in the second round last April by the Dallas Cowboys. If Orchard continues his impressive play he could also move into the second frame." The Utes' prospect has successfully added 60 pounds of muscle to his frame since starting his career as a 195-pound receiver.

While he awaits verdict on his appeal of a second positive drug test, Ohio State junior DE Noah Spence is no longer participating in team activities.

Spence briefly returned to practices last week. This reverse is course doesn't affect his status with the Buckeyes, who have chosen not to dismiss the talented prospect. "He's not going to practice now," OSU HC Urban Meyer said. "That was just last week. He's not practicing, getting full-time treatment and working out just for his well-being. What is a zero tolerance [policy] when an addiction has set in or whatever? The decision, when you harm yourself or harm your team, we wrestle with those all the time. I've been criticized for many, many years about how I treat these guys. I treat them like they're my kid, and I'm not a big fan of dismissal. I don't try to do that very often. It's got to be a severe one where you're hurting someone else."

Clemson OC Chad Morris insinuated that new freshman starting QB Deshaun Watson will not see snaps directly under center.

"Morris said Watson fumbled a snap under center in a short-yardage situation during last Thursday's practice. He's a shotgun guy," beat writer Roy Philpott tweeted. The question was raised after Clemson failed to convert a crucial fourth down play, choosing to run a slow developing play instead. "I didn't trust him," Morris said when asked about Watson potentially taking the ball directly from center in that situation.

UCLA junior DB Randall Goforth will have surgery on both shoulders and miss the remainder of the season.

Goforth separated his right shoulder against Memphis on September 6 after previously separating his left one. Beat writer Chris Foster says Goforth is expected to be out until next fall. Sophomore Tahaan Goodman started in Goforth's place against Texas.

Alabama freshman LT Cameron Robinson received a +6.1 grade from Pro Football Focus against Florida.

1.6 of that grade was attributed to pass protection, with 3.6 as a run blocker. We usually like to wait to crown prospects, but Robinson has all the makings of a future high NFL draft pick. He can move his man in the running game or work out in space when asked to.

Florida missed 30 tackles in the school's 42-21 loss to Alabama, according to Pro Football Focus.

"Three Gators missed four apiece, including linebacker Michael Taylor, cornerback Brian Poole, and safety Jabari Gorman," PFF's Steve Palazzalo writes. In fact, the PFF crew notes safety Marcus Maye has the only Florida defensive starter who did not miss a tackle. Be sure to click the link below to see every player graded.

Alabama junior S Landon Collins received Pro Football Focus' highest grade, a +6.9, in the school's game against Alabama.

Steve Palazzolo of PFF points out Collins made plays when lining up close or far from the line of scrimmage. "He picked up two stops in the running game, but it was his play at free safety that really stood out." In fact, Collins picked up a +5.5 grade in coverage. Remember, these grades are an opinion and evaluation of play, but Collins' game really stood out.

Virginia Tech senior DT Luther Maddy will miss 2-4 weeks after undergoing knee surgery.

The surgery is to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. Maddy initially suffered the injury against ECU and was limited throughout the following week. The defensive tackle then played 48 snaps against Georgia Tech, seeing numerous cut blocks. Sophomore Nigel Williams is expected to fill in for Maddy.

UCLA redshirt junior QB Brett Hundley has returned to practice, but HC Jim Mora has thus far refused to address his availability for Thursday's huge game against Arizona State.

Hundley suffered a "slight" hyper extension last Saturday against Texas and was forced out of the second half. "All of our players who are out, what we try to do is make the best decisions for them based upon the knowledge we have," Mora said. "We depend on our doctors to get us good information, and we got the best doctors in the nation in my opinion. If they clear him, and they say he can play, just like everyone else, then we’ll play him." Hundley is 57-of-81 for 686 yards with three touchdowns and one interception this year. If he can't go, the Bruins will turn to backup Jerry Neuheisel, who completed 23-of-30 passes for 178 yards with two touchdowns against the Longhorns.
