Titans selected Washington RB Bishop Sankey with the No. 54 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Sankey is the first running back off the board. The No. 54 pick is the latest the draft's first runner has ever been selected. Sankey (5-foot-9 1/2, 209) turned pro as a third-year junior after rushing for 3,496 yards and 37 TDs on 644 carries (5.43 YPC), adding 65 career catches. He broke Corey Dillon's school record for single-season rushing yards (1,870) in 2013, and ran 4.49 at the Combine, impressing with a 10-foot-6 broad jump and outstanding times in the short shuttle (4.00) and three-cone drill (6.75). Sankey's measurables don't show up consistently on film, however, where his burst, tackle breaking and vision underwhelm. Perhaps an NFL conditioning program and position coach can maximize his t-shirt-and-shorts athleticism. Ultimately, we see him as a poor man's Gio Bernard. He'll try to strike lightning next to Shonn Greene's plodding thunder.

ECU senior WR Justin Hardy broke Ryan Broyles' FBS record of 349 career receptions in Saturday's 34-6 win over Tulane.

Hardy came into the game needing just four catches to surpass Broyles. He ended up with nine receptions for 104 yards to put him at 355 career catches. The senior has a few more games to pad his shiny new record. Fittingly, Hardy didn't bust anything longer than 21 yards in the game. The senior's a consummate possession receiver who uses his excellent body control and sure hands to move the chains. He's viewed as a mid-round draft selection, where he could find a career in the NFL working out of the slot, something he's already shown a great ability to do at the college level.
Nov 22 - 8:51 PM

Oregon redshirt junior QB Marcus Mariota completed 24-of-32 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 44-10 win over Colorado.

Mariota just keeps on truckin' along toward a Heisman and possible Top-3 draft selection. On Saturday, he broke the Pac-12 single-season record for total TDs with 42. It had previously been set by USC's Matt Barkley in 2011. In addition to his 323 yards through the air, Mariota also added 73 on the ground. He showed off his effortless speed on a 46-yard touchdown run off read-option at the end of the first quarter. Mariota simply took the ball, tucked it and ran past the secondary without being touched. Games like this remind why's Charles Davis has compared Mariota to Robert Griffin III.
Nov 22 - 7:59 PM

Notre Dame redshirt junior QB Everett Golson completed 16-of-24 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 31-28 loss to Louisville.

Earlier this week, CBS Sports' Dane Brugler called Golson "Mr. Turnover." Golson had some ugly plays on Saturday, but he was largely able to minimize the typical mistakes. His body language was horrific before halftime, though, particularly after a play in which he spun away from several defenders in the backfield, only to fumble the ball backward fifteen yards. Notre Dame eventually fell on the fumble and ended up in a 3rd-and-38. Head coach Brian Kelly could be seen in replays yelling the word "Why?" as though he was being tortured. Golson settled down eventually and almost led the Fighting Irish back to a win. When he's not turning the ball over, Golson's an intriguing athletic talent who has the requisite arm strength. It's unfortunate for his draft status that every game seems to have several "why?" plays.
Nov 22 - 7:46 PM

Wisconsin redshirt junior RB Melvin Gordon III rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries in Saturday's win over Iowa.

Unlike the wet paper towel of a front he faced against Nebraska on his way to 408 yards, Iowa actually played a modicum of defense on Gordon and managed to bottle him up for most of the game. He was repeatedly forced to take small gains and it wasn't until an 88-yard late in the game that the redshirt junior pumped up his yardage total. Gordon's willingness to take what he's given, rather than dance in the backfield for losses, is one of his best traits and something he did again and again versus the Hawkeyes. This was his fifth game with 200 or more rushing yards, and his third in a row.
Nov 22 - 7:07 PM

FSU redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston completed 22-of-32 passes for 281 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 20-17 win over Boston College.

Winston also threw an interception in the contest. Yet again, he had to pull a rabbit out of his hat, this time leading the team to a game-winning field goal in the final minutes. Winston seemed agitated at times, yelling at the officials, his receivers and himself. His wideouts dropped several passes and favorite target Rashad Greene left for a time with an injury. Even on what was an off-day, Winston still completed 68.8% of his passes and showed the pinpoint accuracy and arm strength that could see him drafted in the Top-10.
Nov 22 - 6:41 PM

Minnesota senior RB David Cobb tweeted that he would be ready to play next Saturday.

The full tweet was "all is well! I'll be ready to go next Saturday! Thanks." Cobb rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He appeared to pull his hamstring on his 17-yard scoring scamper. While it's a good sign that Cobb's feeling confident, his status in practice this week will be something to keep an eye on as the Golden Gophers prepare for their meeting with Wisconsin.
Nov 22 - 6:27 PM

Alabama junior WR Amari Cooper left Saturday's game against Western Carolina with a knee injury.

Cooper had caught three passes for 46 yards before he exited with a knee injury prior to the close of the first half. Alabama head coach Nick Saban indicated that Cooper could have come back into the game. Given that the halftime score was 38-14 against a vastly inferior team, the team could afford to let him sit with the injury. We'll update his status when more information becomes available.
Nov 22 - 6:06 PM

Stanford senior WR Ty Montgomery exited Saturday's game against Cal with a right shoulder injury.

Prior to leaving, Montgomery had one catch for 14 yards. Physicality with the ball in his hands is one of Montgomery's trademarks, and that will be difficult to do with a bum shoulder. Montgomery is at his best after the catch, as a ball carrier or on returns, but those might have to be manufactured touches early on once reaching the NFL.
Nov 22 - 5:47 PM

Pittsburgh sophomore RB James Conner will miss the remainder of the game against Syracuse with a hip injury.

Conner rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries before leaving. The running back has been the foundation of Pitt's offense all season long, and was even asked to play some defensive end at times.
Nov 22 - 5:35 PM

Penn State sophomore QB Christian Hackenberg completed 8 of 16 attempts for 93 yards and a touchdown in the school's 16-14 loss to Illinois.

Do we have to repeat ourselves? We have read some blaming the offensive line for Hackenberg's poor play this season while citing sack totals. That is not fair to the offensive line, as Hackenberg is the reason for so many of the sacks. It might not be a situation that many could succeed in, but right now Hackenberg is not one of them.
Nov 22 - 4:52 PM

Oklahoma freshman RB Samaje Perine rushed for 427 yards and five touchdowns on 34 carries, breaking Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon III's FBS record which was set last week.

Perine did not even start this game. Keith Ford did. In fact the game is still going on but Perine has been pulled. Gordon rushed for 408 yards last week, which broke a record set by LaDainian Tomlinson that had stood for over 10 years. Perine rushed for 213 yards last week, so he is having a pretty good month. Oklahoma has only attempted three passes thus far, and Perine caught one of them.
