Former USC QB Max Wittek will not transfer to an FBS school this summer.

Wittek planned on completing his degree this summer, but that accomplishment has been delayed until December. If he transferred to an FBS program prior to earning his bachelor's, Wittek would be forced to sit out a season of football to fulfill NCAA requirements. He previously visited Hawaii and Texas. Hawaii was reportedly holding a scholarship for the quarterback, while Texas stopped recruiting him for "unknown reasons," which have now been revealed.

Oklahoma WR coach Jay Norvell says redshirt sophomore WR Dorial Green-Beckham is "like a different guy" during his off year.

"He's been working really hard and doing a lot of great things off the field too. ... He's growing and maturing," Norvell said. DGB dealt with a domestic abuse incident at Missouri, which was one reason he is no longer with the program. He is able to practice with the Sooners this season, and we still think there is a chance DGB never plays a down for Oklahoma and instead jumps to the NFL.

Arizona State senior QB Taylor Kelly is expected to start versus Washington.

Kelly has missed multiple weeks while recovering from a right foot injury. We are of the opinion that Mike Bercovici might be a better player, but obviously Kelly has the "experience" tag on his side. It will be a difficult game to return for, as Washington has plenty of individual defensive talent.

Auburn sophomore DE Carl Lawson is not expected to play this season with lingering knee issues.

Teammates and coaches previously stated Lawson was on track to return from offseason knee surgery to repair a torn left ACL, but that seems unlikely now. "We've not gotten to the point yet it's good enough to talk about coming back," head coach Gus Malzahn said. If he does not play this season, Lawson would likely earn a redshirt label for 2014. He is one of Auburn's top defensive players.

Oregon junior DL Arik Armstead expects to play against Cal despite dealing with a left ankle injury.

Oregon has a bit of a short week, as they face the Bears on Friday. Armstead started the game against Washington, but could only muster a few snaps before being replaced. The junior has not put all of his potential together, but on positive snaps he shows great strength and good movement skills for someone of his size.

Virginia Tech senior DT Luther Maddy will sit out the remainder of this season and will seek a medical redshirt.

Maddy announced he needed another surgery after undergoing a knee operation just one month ago. The senior tore the meniscus in his right knee, and it obviously did not heal appropriately. Expect him to be granted the extra year of eligibility.

Nebraska senior RB Ameer Abdullah rushed for 146 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries in Saturday's 38-17 win over Northwestern.

The last time the Huskers played, Abdullah was held to 45 yards on 24 carries against Michigan State. It looks like a bye week -- and a far inferior defense -- did him some good. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Abdullah is a darkhorse Heisman contender. He has 1,024 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on a 6.4 YPC average during Nebraska's 6-1 start.

Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops refused to update the status of redshirt sophomore QB Trevor Knight on Monday.

"No, I’m not going to give updates on that today," Stoops said. Knight suffered a left arm or shoulder injury and was forced out of the game, but only for a brief amount of time. College programs are not forced to disclose injury information.

Oregon State redshirt junior WR Richard Mullaney will likely miss the remainder of the season with an elbow injury.

"We'll be lucky if we get him back before the end of the year," head coach Mike Riley said. The Beavers passing attack has taken a step down from what it was in the past two season, and Mullaney contributed 216 yards and a touchdown on 18 receptions prior to the injury. Jordan Villamin, who recorded two touchdowns against Utah, should start in Mullaney's place

Clemson freshman RB Adam Choice will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

"That's a big loss for us," head coach Dabo Swinney said. Prior to the injury, Choice rushed for 218 yards and a touchdown on 50 carries in his true freshman season. Junior CJ Davidson, who has a similar yards per carry, will likely take on a larger role.

Archie Manning has stepped down from the College Football Playoff committee due to complications from knee replacement surgery, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Per Mort, Manning needs additional surgery but nothing is expected to be life-threatening. He just does not have enough time to devote to the committee. ESPN's Brett McMurphy added the group will likely stay at 12 members instead of the original 13.

Marshall senior QB Rakeem Cato completed 15-of-27 attempts and threw for 214 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 45-13 win over FIU.

In so doing, he broke Russell Wilson's FBS record by throwing for a touchdown in his 39th straight game. "It was a team effort for all 39 games and we still got more games to play," said Cato. The efficient and record-setting performance must have been sweet for the Miami native playing in his hometown. Cato has thrown for 1,912 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions in seven games this season. "How about Cato?" said Marshall coach Doc Holliday. "I mean, it's a record that may never be broken. That's a heck of a record. If anyone deserves it, that young man does. And to be able to come down here to Miami and do that in front of his family, 15 minutes from where he grew up, that was huge."
