New Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin said Alabama's running backs unit would rank amongst the three best in the NFL.

"There probably aren't three more talented tailbacks in the NFL on a roster than we're fortunate to be able to work with at Alabama," Kiffin said. It's an odd statement from the loose-lipped former Trojans' coach, but he does have an embarrassment of riches. The Crimson Tide's trio of T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake is one of college football's best, but to call it one of the NFL's best is a little silly. Yeldon rushed for 1,235 rushing yards with 14 scores in 207 carries last year.

Troy redshirt senior QB Brandon Silvers completed 24-of-31 passes for 306 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 50-30 victory over North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl.

He also had a rushing touchdown. In our bowl preview series, we mentioned that Silvers could have a monster day to cap off what had been a disappointing sophomore campaign because North Texas' pass defense is atrocious. Silvers -- who entered with an underwhelming 13/6 TD/INT rate and less than 3,000 yards passing despite big preseason expectations -- looked like an NFL prospect once more on Saturday, calmly slicing up North Texas on all three levels. The 6-foot-2, 208-pounder will now embark upon a pre-draft process voyage in which he'll have much to prove. Draft Analyt's Tony Pauline currently grades him as a UDFA, but that could change. "Silvers is well liked in some scouting circles," Pauline wrote earlier this week. "He’s a high-percentage passer who makes proper choices in the pocket and minimizes mental errors. A strong postseason could push him into the late rounds."

Troy redshirt senior RB Josh Anderson rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in Saturday's 50-30 victory over North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl.

With starting RB Jordan Chunn unable to go, Anderson flashed in his final collegiate game. The 5-foot-11, 251-pounder played fullback for a large part of his Trojans' career. He's not really an NFL prospect, but if Anderson were to audition for professional work, he'd have to make it as a FB.

North Carolina A&T defeated Grambling State 21-14 in the Celebration Bowl on Saturday.

Thus caps a perfect 12-0 season for the Aggies. North Carolina A&T only has one legitimate NFL prospect, but he's highly intriguing. Senior T Brandon Parker, who's headed to the Senior Bowl next, "has all the makings of a next-level starter," per Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline. Parker (6'7/309) was utterly dominant at the FCS level. "Parker has outstanding size, growth potential and upside," Pauline wrote. "He’s athletic, can slide his feet and really looks good in pass protection. Parker needs only to improve his run-blocking strength."

WNDU-TV's Alex Wilcox reports that Notre Dame sophomore WR Chase Claypool will undergo shoulder surgery.

Per Wilcox, Claypool (6'5/213) tore multiple ligaments in his shoulder during practice last week. His surgery is set for Tuesday. This unfortunate setback will cost the sophomore wideout a chance to play in the Citrus Bowl against LSU on New Year's Day. Claypool put in a 29-402-2 receiving line across 11 games during the regular season. Chris Finke and Cameron Smith could potentially see increased snaps against the Tigers with their comrade down for the count.

Texas HC Tom Herman said he hasn't decided who will start at quarterback for the bowl game against Missouri.

Shane Buechele and Sam Ehlinger have split reps with the first-team in practice, but Buechele has been going out first, followed by Ehlinger. "They've both had good days and both have had not so good days," Herman said. "So we've got a lot of time to worry about that, in terms of who's going to get the bulk of the reps in the game." Either way, the pair will likely platoon against Mizzou, with Buechele functioning as the passer and Ehlinger the runner.

Per the ESPN broadcast, Troy redshirt senior RB Jordan Chunn (leg) labeled himself "questionable" to play in Saturdays's bowl game against Troy.

Chunn seemed like he had a better than 50-50 chance of playing, but pre-game warmups didn't go as well as he'd like. He's in uniform and moving around on the sidelines as we speak. Troy HC Neal Brown said he'll leave the decision up to Chunn.

North Texas senior RB Jeffery Wilson (foot) is officially out for Saturday's bowl game against Troy.

As expected. The Mean Green were hoping for a miracle, but Wilson's foot injury didn't heal in time. UNT will lean on freshman Nic Smith at tailback.

When asked on Twitter whether he'll play in the Peach Bowl against UCF on Jan. 1, Auburn junior RB Kerryon Johnson (ribs, shoulder) responded: "Of course."

Johnson is dealing with sore ribs and a shoulder injury. Neither required surgery, so it's probably all about pain tolerance at this point. While other runners may have used the medical issues as a reason to skip the bowl matchup, Johnson has no such intentions. Johnson has rushed for 1,320 yards and 17 touchdowns over 11 games, along with a 20-152-0 receiving line. After the season, he has a decision to make regarding the NFL.

South Carolina HC Will Muschamp announced that sophomore RB Rico Dowdle (leg) will play against Michigan in the Outback Bowl.

Dowdle has been out since fracturing his fibula in October. Prior to the injury, had had rushes for 206 yards on 60 carries for the Gamecocks. South Carolina has struggled to run the football all season, but Dowdle, A.J. Turner and Ty'Son Williams give USC at least a chance to pound the rock against the tough Wolverine run defense.

Ole Miss announced Friday that they will file an appeal on the bowl pan they received from the NCAA Infractions Committee.

The school had a self-imposed bowl ban for 2017, and will now appeal for the chance to play in a bowl -- assuming the Rebels qualify -- in 2018. The postseason ban comes after the Infractions Committee found that Mississippi committed 21 rules violations. The school also received a loss of scholarships, and former coach Hugh Freeze will have to serve a two-game conference ban if he returns to coaching.

FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman reports that a "deal is imminent" between Louisiana and Arizona State OC Billy Napier.

This is a nice hire for the Ragin’ Cajuns, who will attempt to rebuild courtesy of an offensive revolution. Napier will bring an up-tempo spread system that prioritizes speed and getting athletes into space. The 38-year-old is a former Alabama and Clemson assistant who did strong work calling the shots for the Sun Devils' offense. Per Feldman, Napier is "really connected in the South."
