NFL.com's Bucky Brooks "can't jump onboard" with the idea that Baylor redshirt senior QB Bryce Petty is a potential franchise quarterback.

A four-game film study left Brooks "questioning [Petty's] overall talent and potential." The 6-foot-3, 230-pound redshirt senior put ip 4,200 yards and a 32-to-3 TD-to-INT ratio last year, but Brooks gave a lot of credit for those numbers to his stellar supporting cast. "I saw a quarterback who greatly benefitted from a clever offensive system and supporting cast loaded with future NFL playmakers," wrote the analyst. "Petty didn't exhibit the arm talent, accuracy and playmaking ability I would expect from a franchise quarterback; I would need to see dramatic improvements in his mechanics and overall play to place him in the conversation with Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston and Brent Hundley as the top quarterback in the 2015 class."

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler believes Marshall senior QB Rakeem Cato "has some likeable traits with his athleticism to evade pressure and arm talent to push the ball downfield."

"However, his inconsistent mechanics, footwork and delivery motions can be maddening and his ball placement wavers too much, especially on the move," Brugler wrote. "Cato also lacks NFL size with a skinny frame and will likely go undrafted, projecting as a smaller, not as refined version of his childhood friend, Teddy Bridgewater." Last time out against FIU, Cato broke Russell Wilson's FBS record by throwing a touchdown in his 39th straight game. The Thundering Herd star has thrown for 1,912 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions in seven games this season.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler projects Indiana junior RB Tevin Coleman "as a mix of Darren McFadden and DeMarco Murray."

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Coleman hasn't been held below 100 yards yet this season. He leads the nation with 1,192 rushing yards and 8.8 yards per carry. "[Coleman] is able to gash defenses with his vision to find holes, body control to get skinny and burst to accelerate downfield," Brugler wrote. "He has worked his way into the top-75 discussion as a NFL prospect if he decides to declare early for the 2015 NFL Draft, projecting as a mix of Darren McFadden and DeMarco Murray."

SI's Chris Burke believes USC junior DL Leonard Williams projects as a defensive tackle in the NFL.

Last week, while ranking Williams as his No. 1 overall prospect, ESPN's Todd McShay wrote that Williams' "best projection is as a 5-technique defensive end, but he has the quickness and point-of-attack skills to perform inside as a 3-technique." Basically, that means J.J. Watt's role. "The discussion is not indicative of any uncertainty surrounding Williams' game, but rather confirmation of his wide-ranging game," Burke wrote.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler suggested West Virginia senior WR Kevin White could be the top receiver on some teams' draft boards in the spring.

Many analysts have been doing backflips over White over the past seven weeks, but this is perhaps the first time one has suggested that the Mountaineer could leapfrog Alabama's Amari Cooper and Michigan's Devin Funchess for top WR billing in the 2015 draft. "Barely a blip on the NFL Draft radar entering the season, White has displayed first round traits this season and is shooting up draft boards," Brugler wrote. "It won't be a surprise if he's the top receiver prospect on some team's draft boards next spring." The 6-foot-3, 210-pound White is on pace for a historic 128 catches, 1,885 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. If WVU finishes strong, he'll get invited to New York for the Heisman ceremony.

Oklahoma WR coach Jay Norvell says redshirt sophomore WR Dorial Green-Beckham is "like a different guy" during his off year.

"He's been working really hard and doing a lot of great things off the field too. ... He's growing and maturing," Norvell said. DGB dealt with a domestic abuse incident at Missouri, which was one reason he is no longer with the program. He is able to practice with the Sooners this season, and we still think there is a chance DGB never plays a down for Oklahoma and instead jumps to the NFL.

Arizona State senior QB Taylor Kelly is expected to start versus Washington.

Kelly has missed multiple weeks while recovering from a right foot injury. We are of the opinion that Mike Bercovici might be a better player, but obviously Kelly has the "experience" tag on his side. It will be a difficult game to return for, as Washington has plenty of individual defensive talent.

Auburn sophomore DE Carl Lawson is not expected to play this season with lingering knee issues.

Teammates and coaches previously stated Lawson was on track to return from offseason knee surgery to repair a torn left ACL, but that seems unlikely now. "We've not gotten to the point yet it's good enough to talk about coming back," head coach Gus Malzahn said. If he does not play this season, Lawson would likely earn a redshirt label for 2014. He is one of Auburn's top defensive players.

Oregon junior DL Arik Armstead expects to play against Cal despite dealing with a left ankle injury.

Oregon has a bit of a short week, as they face the Bears on Friday. Armstead started the game against Washington, but could only muster a few snaps before being replaced. The junior has not put all of his potential together, but on positive snaps he shows great strength and good movement skills for someone of his size.

Virginia Tech senior DT Luther Maddy will sit out the remainder of this season and will seek a medical redshirt.

Maddy announced he needed another surgery after undergoing a knee operation just one month ago. The senior tore the meniscus in his right knee, and it obviously did not heal appropriately. Expect him to be granted the extra year of eligibility.

Nebraska senior RB Ameer Abdullah rushed for 146 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries in Saturday's 38-17 win over Northwestern.

The last time the Huskers played, Abdullah was held to 45 yards on 24 carries against Michigan State. It looks like a bye week -- and a far inferior defense -- did him some good. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Abdullah is a darkhorse Heisman contender. He has 1,024 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on a 6.4 YPC average during Nebraska's 6-1 start.

Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops refused to update the status of redshirt sophomore QB Trevor Knight on Monday.

"No, I’m not going to give updates on that today," Stoops said. Knight suffered a left arm or shoulder injury and was forced out of the game, but only for a brief amount of time. College programs are not forced to disclose injury information.
