Four names have been confirmed as possible picks for Thursday's Supplemental Draft, including SMU RB Traylon Shead.

The other three names include: New Mexico wide receiver Chase Clayton, UNC linebacker Darius Lipford and Virginia-Lynchburg defensive tackle Lakendrick Ross. Shead is a larger than average running back, while Ross is a massive (6'4/336 lbs) defensive tackle. Multiple teams attended each prospect's pro day, but there is a legitimate chance none are selected. If a club does select one of these players, they lose a corresponding draft pick in the 2015 draft.

South Alabama senior RB Xavier Johnson (ankle) is expected to be able to play in Saturday's game against Louisiana-Monroe.

"He's practiced the last couple of days, so actually he looks almost 100 percent. He looked really good this week," said Jaguars HC Joey Jones. Johnson (5'11/190) sprained his ankle in a win over Troy a week ago Wednesday. The senior is just 13 yards shy of setting the school-record for career rushing yards. He's currently sitting on 2,574, with 349 of those coming this season.

Florida received a verbal commitment from four-star 2018 verbal T commit Richard Gouraige.

Gouraige (6'5/250) opted for the Gators over fellow finalist Clemson. He ranks as Rivals' No. 101 prospect in the 2018 class. The Tampa native offers the flexibility and frame of a likely future left tackle, but will need to continue to hone his strength and physicality once he heads down to Gainesville.

Appalachian State redshirt senior RB Terrence Upshaw will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn triceps muscle.

It's been a disappointing wind-down to Upshaw's career after he rushed for a combined 1,015 yards in 2014 and 2015. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound redshirt senior missed the entirety of the 2016 campaign due to academic issues. He looked to be on his way to a fine season this year, having rushed for 314 yards (4.6 YPC) and four touchdowns in six games prior to the triceps tear. Barring an NCAA waiver of some variety, this injury will mark the end of his collegiate career.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio announced junior RB LJ Scott will play Saturday against Indiana.

On Wednesday, Scott was arrested for his seventh(!) driving infraction since 2016. "In what has been a lengthy process, LJ Scott now has a valid driver’s license, free of any restrictions," Dantonio said via a statement released 48 hours later. "He has resolved the matter completely, and has paid a price, both financially and publicly. His status will be affected for Saturday’s game, but he will play." Scott accepted a plea deal on Friday, paving the way for Dantonio's surprising decision.

Former Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan compared Oklahoma senior QB Baker Mayfield to a "shorter version of Brett Favre."

"He reminds me of a shorter version of Brett Favre," McCloughan said. "Tough guy. He can throw it. And he’s very confident, and he’s not afraid whatsoever, whatsoever. He’s a battler. I know saying Brett Favre’s a big name, and I was around him for a while, but this guy’s got talent." Mayfield entered this season as something of a Day 3 afterthought -- drawing comparisons to Colt McCoy, for instance -- but he's winning over more NFL followers by the day. ESPN's Todd McShay and Mel Kiper recently agreed that he's a Day 2 prospect at this point.

Notre Dame HC Brian Kelly confirmed that senior LB Greer Martini (knee) would miss Saturday's USC game after undergoing a surgical procedure.

According to Indianapolis Star beat writer Laken Litman, Kelly "Feels confident [Martini will] be back for NC State." In other words, Kelly believes Martini can return after a one-game absence. Previously, Irish Illustrated reported that Martini could miss a month. Martini ranks third on the Irish with 39 tackles and leads the team with two forced fumbles. Junior Te’von Coney is expected to take his place in the starting lineup.

Memphis redshirt senior WR Anthony Miller caught 10 passes for 178 yards in a 42-38 victory over Houston on Thursday.

Miller (5'11/190) got off to a slow start like the rest of the Memphis offense, but was lights out in the second half. He didn't reach the end zone, but he and the rest of the Tiger wideouts set up several short-yardage scores for sophomore tailback Patrick Taylor Jr. Miller showed in the final 30 minutes why he has a chance to be one of the first wide receivers off the board this spring. He'll have another field day against New Mexico State next week.

Memphis redshirt senior QB Riley Ferguson threw for 471 yards and a touchdown on 33-of-53 passing in a 42-38 victory over Houston on Thursday.

To be blunt, Ferguson was awful in the first half, and his inaccuracy was very much responsible for the Tigers having a 17-0 deficit at halftime. From the start of the third quarter on, however, Ferguson was outstanding. He was able to connect with wideout Anthony Miller and playmaker Tony Pollard often in the second half, putting Memphis back in the game. His touchdown pass was a big one, a 21-yard strike to Sean Dykes to give the Tigers the game-winning score with just 1:28 left in the game. Ferguson and the Tigers will look to stay in the AAC race next week against Tulane.
Oct 19 - 11:45 PM

Arkansas State redshirt junior QB Justice Hansen threw for 275 yards and ran for 120 more with three total touchdowns in a 47-3 thrashing of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Hansen (6'4/207) was everywhere for the Red Wolves on Thursday. Not only did he have the big passing and rushing totals, he also caught a 34-yard pass on a trick play. The Ragin Cajuns defense was putrid, and the talented all-purpose quarterback was able to use his size, speed and arm-strength to burn the front seven and secondary. Hansen should have another monster game against New Mexico State next week.
Oct 19 - 11:20 PM

Arkansas redshirt freshman QB Cole Kelly is likely to earn his second-straight start on Saturday against Auburn.

Kelley would get the start in place of senior Austin Allen (shoulder) who is unlikely to play on Saturday. The 6-foot-7, 268-pound quarterback has completed 56 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Uncommitted four-star 2018 T Nicholas Petit-Frere is taking an official visit to Notre Dame this weekend.

Petit-Frere (6'6/272) will be drinking in the atmosphere in South Bend for this weekend's monster game against USC. The Irish will have several recruits on campus for that contest and a victory could go a ways toward locking up some pledges. Scout.com's No. 40 overall prospect in the 2018 class could use some added muscle, but that figures to come as he matures. He already boasts a fluid, tenacious mindset on the line. Florida, Alabama, Auburn and Ohio State are also vying for Petit-Frere's pledge, with the Gators considered the probable leader for the Tampa native come Signing Day.
